Hope someone can help since I'm panicking about our trip tomorrow. I hope you guys like story problems....We're taking my mom for the first (and probably only) time and I want things to go smoothly.....We have a 6:30 PS for dinner at Artist Point (we're staying at WL) and Wishes is at 9pm. It's supposed to start raining tomorrow night right around that time. Is it worth it to take the boat over to MK if we get out of dinner by 7:30-8:00 or are we just asking to get caught in the hoards of people trying to exit MK. I was thinking we could go in, watch Wishes (if it's not pouring) and then hang back until the majority of the people leave, then take the boat back to WL. I would hate for my mom's first impression on WDW to be squashed with wall-to-wall people in the rain after ten minutes of fireworks. I figure if it's really raining, we'll just stay and explore WL - any advice?

Main Street around the fireworks is always going to be busy. I guess it depends on your mother's age, health, etc. You may just want to wait for the next night, get there earlier and stake out a spot.

We usually stand front and center, close to Cindy's, and then hang out at Casey's or do some shopping. The crowds don't bother us--our kids are teens so no strollers, etc.

Your idea to hang out afterwards is good one. No way would I leave at the same time as everyone else. You will just be agravated! Ask when the last boat to the WL is. I think at some point you would have to take the bus back but I'm not sure. And don't worry, Disney won't leave you stranded! :)

Have a wonderful trip!!! Hope it doesn't rain too much! :umbrella:

You should definitely give it a try to go to MK for Wishes after dinner. In December my husband and I wanted to go back to MK in the evening for Wishes, and our schedule said it was at 9 pm that night. We got back to MK around 7.50 pm, planned to go on Splash Mountain before Wishes.

When we entered the gate, I asked, just to confirm, if Wishes was at 9 pm and a CM said, no, it is at 8 pm, as was park closing time! We got there only 10 minutes before it started! So we just headed straight down Main Street, stood right in front of the castle near the end of Main Street (the end closest to the castle) and had a fantastic view.

Definitely linger back and walk around a bit before exiting. I thought it was wonderful to arrive just for Wishes. Also when we had taken the monorail over, there was no one waiting in the queue to go TO MK, so we sat up front with the driver. My husband got a kick out of this as he had no idea it could be done. I'd read about it on the DIS, never knowing if we'd have an opportunity to it, but it was perfect as no one else was waiting.
