Some of you were kind enough to give me advice on a loft conversion last year and may know that we decided to go ahead with it. Work started on a Monday back in February and now, after a 3 week break while we were on holiday, it's almost finished. At times, it's been a complete nightmare and not without its problems but we're coming to the end and I thought I would post some pics to show you the before, during and how it looks now.

They were able to put the staircase up from the existing landing so, once it's decorated and finished, hopefully it will look as though it's always been there.

Lovely Joh!
It looks like it was worth all the hard work, disruption and dosh!
Have you picked out all your colours and things? I'm useless at that stuff even though I go in with what I think is a clear idea of what I want :lmao:

Looks great Joh, (just goes to show how much progress had been made by the time i saw it )

The end is in site at last :cool1:

Looking good Joh:thumbsup2 .Be sure to post more piccies once completley done with colours, furniture etc...x.

it looks lovely, what colours are you going to go for

Thanks everyone - although the rooms are for the girls, we have agreed that they should be decorated so that they can also be used for guests (and fellow DISers ;)) if need be. So both rooms will be decorated in chocolate brown and duck-egg blue, although slightly differently. The girls love the colours so they're happy and they will get to choose the furniture and accessories :)

Joh

What a great use of space. Lucky girls to have such fab new rooms. Love the colour scheme too - can't wait to see final pics

OK so run that my me again, which one is mine and which one is Theresa's???

It looks smashing Joh, can't wait to see it in the real.:goodvibes

is it finished ahead of your schedule Joh ?

No Jules - they said it would take 8 weeks and, even allowing for the 3 weeks off, it has taken 9 and they probably won't be finished for another couple of weeks. Plus, some of the doors were damaged so we have to wait 6 weeks for replacements.

Wow! That looks fantastic. We're trying to decide whether to convert our attic or move. Looking at your pics, the attic conversion looks very tempting (if only we could then pick up the whole house and move it!!! lol).

How exciting for you!

So it seems they first cut those middle beams and add some horizontal ones? Our attic looks the exact same right now so I'm interested in this process. Then again we might just move. :confused3

Wow Joh! It looks fab! And I love your colour scheme... :thumbsup2

I confess to being super-jealous - our house is an absolute wreck (one example: hall ceiling fell down whilst we were away in March) but we can't justify doing anything until we get planning permission for an extension which is taking our planning department forever... :furious: It's driving me  at the moment...

I was asking in case you were able to spare time for the GGG, I was hoping maybe so if you would have been finished earlier :goodvibes
