Just went on the Loew's site and either I ignored reading some stuff before or it's been added since I first planned trips. I had thought after this last 10-night stay at RPR, combined w/7 night stay last July (same time frame) plus the one-night stay at New Year's @ Loew's Philadelphia would give me platinum status. I've just finished reading the part about "calendar year stay... Loew's calendar-year meaning Jan.1- Dec.31 of any year. Another thing I noticed was the blackout dates. You have to click on and view another screen, but there are a lot of dates listed. Just don't recall seeing all this info before. Anybody?

I had quite a lengthy chat with Loew's First when I did the "Third Times a Charm" promo and I still don't understand it. I asked if the slate was wiped clean starting Jan. 1 and they said "No"? So I'm still not sure how they figure it. I stayed enough for Platinum in a year but not calendar year. RyGuy is Plat and seems to understand how it works.

Well, if that's the case, then my July to July year would count. I'm going to have to call them directly and see what I'm listed as after this last stay (trying to give it enough time to be entered into their system---don't know exactly when/how that works either! lol) I'm also still trying to get my July bill straightened out w/RPR. Starting to feel like that old saying...I need a vacation from vacation!

I asked them for my status after only 4 nights this calendar year and was told I'm a Goldmember!

The way it works is whatever status you were as of 6/1/03 you will remain until 12/31/04 unless you move up to a higher level. You would of course keep the higher level until 12/31/04. On 1/1/05 they will decide your membership level for that year based on your stays from the previous year (1/1/04 to 12/31/04). That is how it will work from then on. Each years level will be based on stays from the previous year.

Example

I was Loews Gold on 6/1/03 so I would have been able to stay at least Gold until 12/31/04. I moved up to Platinum a few months later and now I will remain Platinum until 12/31/04. My membership level for 05 will be based on my stays occuring this calendar year (1/1/04 to 12/31/04) . Hopefully I can squeeze a few more in to keep Platinum! The suite upgrades are well worth it!

RyGuy, thanks for kind of clearing that up! I became gold after July '03's 7-night stay, and then stayed 1 night at Loew's Philly. I thought I had calculated (yeah, real vacation term--lol) that 1/2 way through this last July '04 10-night stay that I would become platinum. The fine print is confusing, because it says in the "rules and regulations"....#3. "A stay is defined as all consecutive nights at 1 hotel, even if member checks out and checks back in again during those dates" I think maybe I'm bronze or something. Also, do you remember ever reading about blackout dates before?

GREAT NEWS!!! I just got off the phone with Elijah @ Loew's and I am platinum!!! I will stay platinum through 2005. My status will drop down if I don't continue the required stays. Now, if I could just get one erroneous charge from RPR off my credit card I'd be a happy camper.

Sooooo RyGuy...........have you had good/bad experiences at RPR w/platinum? Just thinking ahead here......got to plan another vacation for next summer! lol

I just got my Platinum card! So I guess I can continue to rub shoulders with ya'll.:smooth: What does this mean at RPR, Ryguy? They have so few suites. If we call and book a standard what would we get? Pool? I'm ready to go again! What is the deal with the Loews website? I have'nt been able to get an APH, FLO or FAN rate in a couple of months!

WTG Motherfletcher!! I just got mine in the mail today too! We've stayed on club level for the past two years and now I'm wondering whether to opt for the other levels if it means getting a suite. Oh well, plenty of time to START PLANNING AGAIN!!! :bounce:

From what I read on another RyGuy post it depends on what rate you book. Example- I want 10/14 for my DD11's birthday and HHN. The APH rates I've seen (like Barry) got the 15th for $129. If I get that rate they will probably offer Plat pool view which I really don't want and the suite would be an extra $25-35. Club will be an extra $60-80. BTW, I received 2 Plat cards. Does that mean I'm double Platinum? What do you get for that?

In July 2003, I didn't know about these boards in time and went with Universal Vacations and was Loew's Blue. I was offered/took an upgrade to club level for $35 from a standard 2 qn room on another floor. Luckily, I ended up getting the credit for "qualified stays" and became Loew's gold. This July we went back after having booked club level through Loew's and no upgrades were available. Has anyone ever booked reg. room at club level and gotten any type of upgrade from there? Is there one? I would like to think it runs the same way as the others w/
standard view, garden, poolview, etc.

My experience at RPR with upgrades has not been very good. I have stayed there 6 times and only been upgraded to a suite once for $35. The rest of the time I have stayed in a standard room or club level which I paid for. HRH and PBH have two suite types that you can upgrade to with platinum. RPR only has one which is the King/Executive. I think there are like 36 of these suites but they are always booked. RPR does a lot of convention business which is why the hotel is usually full. They always look to see if they can upgrade me even with the low rates I pay but there is never anything available. They will upgrade to pool view if available for free but I prefer the theme park views in tower 1. If you book a club level room they will upgrade you to a king suite on club if available but I think there are only two king suites on club level so your chances are not very good. Hope that helps.

Thanks RyGuy. I booked club level and I had asked about the upgrade to a suite for this past trip and was told it was only to the king suite which could hold 3 people (we had 3, 2 ad. 2kds) so I dropped the idea. Then I read on these boards that a whole family was able to stay in the suite. If we go this next summer I will push a little more if they say there is a king suite available. Even for the $35 or whatever extra would be ok. Guess I'll wait and see what happens when I get to the planning stages again.
