My daughter (10 years old) has been growing her hair to donate it to Locks of Love. Her favorite aunt had breast cancer and she has been growing it out since her diagnoses. She is not cancer free and so A is ready to cut it off. She really wants to have it cut and mailed from the Magic Kingdom. However, I'm afraid that since she has never cut more than a half an inch off her hair, so will be upset if she does not get a stylish cut. Plus, I want to make this special. Where should I take her to have her hair cut? She is a complete girly girl. Is there anything I can do to make it extra special?
Any suggestions are welcome!

I responded to you but I responded in the other place you posted this thread. Congrats to your daughter for her decision, I did give some advice as well on the other thread.

MT~

Tell Princess she is doing something amazing. As I told you last night, PJ did this in 2012 right after graduation.

Her hair was the shortest it has ever been and she liked it at first but then she didn't...She knew it would grow back and she tried styling it many different ways. (half up/half down, french braid, beach curls, etc). It's now even longer than it was before and she loves it..

I would have her start looking through styles and even talk to your regular hairdresser to see what style would work best for her.

I'm not sure how it would be handled for them to receive the donation through locks of love our hair dresser handled everything. She was amazing. She even cried when PJ donated as she has always seen PJ with long hair..

We donate to pantene. Their program actually gives to girls and women with hair loss due to cancer. Locks of love doesn't.

They have a website, with.the address. My 8 yo has donated twice. The second time she got a bob right up to her earlobes. All her idea. I have them rubberband it, then I baggie it, pop it in a mailer and send. They even send a thank you note if you want.

so sweet A is doing this for her aunt :goodvibes

What about on Main Street US? I am not sure if they cut girls hair or not, but would think they would? https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/magic-kingdom/harmony-barber-shop/ I do know they sprinkle pixie dust and do fun things with hair? So if they cut it too, that would be perfect. Just make sure you bring a zip lock in to store the hair. I donate my own hair every 12-18 months or so. My daughters do sometimes as well. I would research Locks of Love, Wigs for Kids, and Pantene to see what different hair lengths are required and to see if the charity is doing what you think it will do with your daughter's hair donation. We too always donate to Pantene as well based off of information I have discovered. Good luck! :goodvibes
