Yes I understand IF the pool is gated you will need your KTTW card That is the reason for the question about what pools require them..!!!!!

Jeez 1pixiemom No need to take my head off! My response wasn't even directed to you! If you were paying attention it was in response to what Deb&Bill posted about taking a KTTW card & DL to a pool for possibly buying alcohol as well as being admitted if it was gated! So maybe you need to pay a little closer attention before you go snapping at people about their posts. Because clearly You were the one not paying attention. Have a great evening!

The OP asked which pools today are locked when you enter them, not what happened a few years ago.

You originally said you saw it gated in the summer, now it is maybe Easter/ Spring Break. I have stayed at the BW in the summer months for the last 7 years, and the pool was never locked with a gate.

Umm. The OP's post says nothing about "today." Relax, will ya?! Sheesh

I went back into my file of Disney vacations and found the time frame and it wasn't summer, but Spring Break/Easter. I was trying to clarify my response. And I agree with NHKristy76 that there is nothing in the original post that says "today". It just happened in the past and could happen in the future.

I always take my KTTW to a pool when I swim. If it's overcrowded at they are checking to make sure everyone is a guest of that hotel (or a DVC member on an allowed pool hopping day at an allowed pool for hopping), I've got proof that it's OK for me to be there.

It's why we bought Witz brand nearly waterproof cases that go on skinny lanyards, and I wear them while swimming.

Dh is really big on having ID on me *everywhere* and he has convinced me...so I do. I also throw a "few" bucks into the Witz case, in between the two cards, in case I want to buy something.

I have been asked this question by a friend looking to book a resort

I take this to mean mean that they want to book a resort in the near future (ok but not necessarily today), not something that might have happened "a few years back".

From our experience, YC/BC, BLT, AK KV, has gates around the pool. YC/BC they check your KTTW card and give a wristband. I've heard there are going to be a lot of pool refurbs coming in 2013, so you may want to check those dates as well before planning your trip.

From DVCnews.com

The following resort pools and slides have maintenance closures scheduled to occur early in the new year:

Animal Kingdom Villas Uzima Pool slide: Closed January 14 to February 8

Saratoga Springs High Rock Spring pool slide: Closed January 15 to February 8

Beach Club Stormalong Bay pool slide: Closed January 16 to January 25

Beach Club Stormalong Bay kiddie pool slide: Closed February 1 to February 12

Old Key West sandcastle pool slide: Closed January 24 to February 15

BoardWalk Luna Park Pool (entire facility): Closed January 28 to March 1

Bay Lake Tower Bay Cove Pool slide: Closed February 4 to February 15

Reminder that refurbishment dates are estimates only. Specific schedules are subject to change.

Seriously, I've never seem a thread go more discourteous, so quickly in my life.

The short answer is, while highly unlikely in some cases, a guest can be asked to show a room key at ANY Disney resort pool, at any time of year.
