Locals-Trick or Treating in Orlando?

We are going to be in Orlando over Halloween. We are not doing any park entertainment on Halloween but my little ones want to go trick or treating.

I have looked into Trunk or Treats (which would be favorable) but all the churches having them seem to be a 45 min drive away.
My next idea was to go to Celebration. I have never been there and I hear it is fun on Halloween but pretty busy.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? What time do kids start trick or treating in Orlando? Will Celebration be too insane?

Why not go to Fort Wilderness? We've been ther over Halloween and its great

We are not staying onsite and I heard that last year they only let campers participate. Otherwise I would have loved to.

Dr. Phillips and Windermere are two nice areas near Disney property. I grew up in DP and always went trick-or-treating. There's plenty of non-gated neighborhoods to choose from.

If you go to Celebration I would get there early as last time we went they were queuing to get in off the 192!

I live in Celebration. It gets crazy here! If you don't want crazy, go to Windermere. I hear it's nice there.

If you want to chance the crazy, come in the back way from World Drive and head to the back of the community away from town. It's less busy the further from the center of town you go.

Don't - under any circumstances - try to get in from 192!

Someone must have read my post - we noticed the "back way" was a LOT busier this year. ;)

Hope everyone had a great Halloween.
