Local Radio Station Playing Christmas Music 24/7

That's what motivated me to get Satellite radio 5 years ago. My favorite station started playing Christmas music 24/7 way too early for my liking.

what station is that?

I know in DC it was 94.7 or one of them in that area which played it.

Now i am down here and love to find one that plays Christmas music

already enjoying the cable tv radio/ music channel which plays Christmas music.

Mix 95 is playing it. 95.1 FM

To me the official start of the Christmas season is when Santa's sleigh ends the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. And, except for the end of that parade, NO Christmas or holiday music until the day after Thanksgiving!

My local radio station has been playing Christmas Music since Friday 11/13. They are playing it 24/7 until Dec 26.

I have been listening to it but I'm not sure what to think. Does anyone else think it's a little early?

Little too early for me. I like my holidays in order. I hate it when I go into the stores in October and see Christmas decorations, by the time Christmas actually gets here it's not special. I enjoy fall and Thanksgiving. I like Macy's thanksgiving day parade and seeing Santa at the end. So I wait until Black Friday to start the calendar.

I love Christmas music and have already started listening to it. We have a local station that has been playing it for about 2 weeks now. :santa:

We also put up our outside decorations over the weekend. The temps were in the 60's so we took advantage of the nice weather. We will not turn them on however until Thanksgiving weekend.

I agree! I enjoy the music and 4 weeks is just too short. I also get depressed that they stop playing it the day after Christmas.....at least play it through New Years!

We also put most of our outside stuff out yesterday but we also don't light it til Black Friday. It was just so beautiful and WARM out we had to do it. It stinks putting out lights when you cannot feel your fingers!

I try to spread all my holiday stuff out so as to not get too stressed out during December. Gives us a chance to really enjoy the Holiday season!

I have the AOL Christmas "Oldies" station blasting right now.

One of our local radio stations usually starts playing on the Monday during the week before Thanksgiving. I turned the station on this morning and was disappointed to hear the soft rock programming.

I am trying to do some deep cleaning for the upcoming holidays and it just seems better with Christmas music playing :goodvibes

My one complaint about the 24/7 Christmas music is.....some stations stop playing the music after 2pm ON CHRISTMAS DAY!! Heck, that's the day when you want to hear it the most!!!

That is my complaint, too. They rush the season then close it down when it is still happening. Kind of like when they put bathing suits out in the spring and by August you can't even find one!
My next complaint is the kind of music the stations play. They are sooo unimaginative and keep playing the same sad stuff. When I hear "Christmas Comes Each Time This Year" by the Beach Boys I want to scream! Why can't they include some jazz and classical, and how about some Christian Christmas music? There is some great music out there and I am shocked that the stations rely on the exact same tunes each year.

Yep. Or the song "Dear, Mr. Jesus". Seriously?!? How is that a Christmas Song?

I"ve been scanning the stations in NJ looking for the Christmas station since nov 1st! I love it in the car when I'm alone.. the kids won't let me listen this early in the season! Does anyone know of any stations in NJ/NY playing Christmas music yet? :)

WPLJ (95.5) did all Christmas music two years ago. I loved it, but apparently a lot of people did not because last year they did away with it. I guess their ratings went down because of it.

I think our Magic 98.3 is starting today. I hope so! I love to listen to them. calms me down and makes me get more into the season and all the work I have ahead! :lmao::santa:

I had to flip off the Christmas CD in the car to check to see if the station that does 24 hour music had started, they have :lmao:.

I have already started at home on cd, :rotfl2: because I know of no station by me (ny) that has this....I'd love it...but it freaks out the rest of the family :confused3
I say...bring it ON! :rotfl2:

WMJC (94.3) has started intermingling (sp?) Christmas music with their regular programming. The station is based in Farmingdale, NY. I don't know if their transmitter reaches NJ or not though.

Most radio stations now have a way for people to listen over the internet so that's also an option for you if you want :)

A couple local stations have made the switch already. What I want to know is this:

There are thousands of Christmas songs. Dozens of versions of many of them. Classic, contemporary, religious, secular, rock, orchestra, choir, you name it. So why the $%*&$%*($&% do they play the same 37 or 40 different songs? Every 90 minutes or so, it repeats. It's not a loop, however because last time it was Frosty, White Christmas, Rudolph, Jingle Bells, and now it is Rudolph, Frosty, Jingle Bells, White Christmas. Same songs, different order.

I have more variety with the Christmas CDs here at home.

Wash FM 97.1 FM in the DC area started playing Christmas music today. I prefer my Christmas music to start after Thanksgiving -- yes after the Macy Parade.
