Does anyone know of a local grocery store need WDW that does charge "tourist" prices? We are driving down and we don't want to have to bring everything, but we don't want to pay so much for groceries that we should just eat in the parks. :)

Hi...I don't know if you saw the other post, but just in case...

STAY AWAY FROM GOODINGS!!!

Publix is definitly your best bet. The prices are just like at any other grocery store and it has a full selection of different items. There are several locations in Orlando, so I woud recommend checking out which one is closest to where you are staying on their website, http://store.publix.com/publix/cgi/...=Lake+Buena+Vista&region=FL,US&zip=&x=62&y=11

Hope that helps, have a good trip!

Coming from the DD area, turn right onto 535. Go under the I 4 overpass to Vineland. (There will be a Bahama Breeze Restaurant on the corner) Turn left. Go down about a mile or so on the left will be Publix. The prices at this store are the same as all their others.
Publix closes at 10 pm each night, they are NOT 24 hours.
They have excellent subs in the deli I might add!

The phone number for this location is 407-238-9924

This is my "home away from home Publix" store. In case you want to look this particular location up on a map, it is at the intersection of 192 and 535...or in other words, where Irlo Bronson Hwy meets Vineland Road.

Irlo bronson Hwy = 192
535 = Vinland Road
536 = the road that goes right past all the Disney exits...maybe it becomes World Drive? Anyone know for sure?

(I just know where I go and never really pay lots of attention to street names...except I AM sure about Irlo Bronson being 192 and 535 being Vineland Road.)

In addition, I can assure you that this Publix has EXCELLENT take-out chicken (as well as many many other selections) and that it is reasonably priced AND that it has the best whole Key Lime pies for about $7 (give or take .50) in the whole world!...and that includes DisneyWorld where you pay that price for just 2 pieces instead of 6!

How is this store in comparison with prices to the Wal-Mart supercenter which isnt much further down the road?(approx 3 miles) Last time we were down there I saved 50% over shopping at the grocery store over by DD, GOODINGS?? If it is comparable and saves a few miles that would be great, but I dont think many grocery stores can beat Wal-mart prices???

We have tried all the chains over the years, the BEST is Publix, great grocery selections and the BEST prices!
Wallmart in Kississimee *(large)has great fruit(s) selections at fantastic prices!

Goodings does offer "better take out meal(s)" if you want to save money *compared to Disney.
Just my two cents..

During our trip in Feburary we ended up shopping at both Publix and Walmart supercenter....we hit Walmart first because we knew where that was and we had gotten all turned around and lost (we were traveling without a map and directs at the time and only going by what we remembered so don't let me scare you. :D ) Walmart ended up not having some of the stuff we were looking for...then heading back to WDW (with map in hand) we ended up passing Publix and I ran in to grab the things Walmart didn't have and the prices between Walmart and Publix were about the same but Publix had a better slection. Plus I was able to get my DDs 2 autograph books and 2 fat pens at Publix $7..a very good price. So we don't ever plan to go back to Walmart because the Publix was cleaner the service people were helpful they took things to the car for me. So my vote would be Publix hands down.
