As a local Passholder, we don't stay on property, but would so love to do some of the things that happen at the resorts..Is there any provision for this? What about pool areas? I see lots of meets happening at the resort pool areas, I would hate to take my dd to one and tell her she can't play in the water.....

Pools and other "free" facilities are reserved for guests; you have to stay there to use them. However anything you pay for, you would almost certainly be welcome. The most obvious thing is dining at resort restaurants; you should have a Priority Seating (like a reservation) so you can give a PS number if requested. There is no harm in exploring the resort for a while after eating. But in general, just like the parks, if you want the resort experience you have to pay for it.

I have to admit I don't know what you mean by "meets happening at the resort pool areas".

Sometimes when meets (ppl from internet forums meeting in person) are planned, people plan them for Resort pool areas...so that means we wouldn't be able to go :(

BTW, love your tag line, we are HUGE LOTR fans here!

If a meet is being held at a resort then the resort guest could ask the resort if it would be possible for your daughter to use the pool. Otherwise it is only for resort guests.

If I wasn't staying at that resort I would think I wouldn't be able to go swimming and that is what I taught my kids.

Great, I'll just have the meet organizer check as meets come up! Thanks!

For the reasons mentioned, hosting an internet meet at a resort pool area is NOT a very good idea. I wonder if this has been cleared with the resort in question.

I wondered about that too Erik, but assumed it had since it was offered...hmmm, re thinking...

Disney doesn't have provisions for this, you'd have to pay for at least one night to be able to do so. Although, you know, even if you are local, sometimes it's fun to stay in the resorts and get away from home.

Although there shouldn't be a problem with an internet meet and greet getting started at some pool, the security guy at the gate may get a bit nervous of lots of people come in. I think it would be probably easy though for someone to inform the resort and they could give the security guy a head's up. Or maybe it would be better to pick a place that is a little more public to meet at that is not gated, like Downtown Disney where the kids can play in the fountains.
