Hi all! I'm doing another live trip report on a trip that started this morning. I thought about skipping it, but I have some time to collect myself, so here it is!

So, for the planning and pre-tripping stuff, you can read all the details here. We'll call that the intro and go from there.

Getting settled in my room. Updates shortly.

Alright, the first part of my trip isn't actually Disney. That doesn't start until Monday. Until then, I'm staying at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club and Lodge. Check in was very quick and easy, with very friendly staff at the front desk. The grounds are set back a bit from the main road and travel through a beautiful neighborhood. It's quiet, too, which I'm liking already. It has a very home-y feel to it. I wish that I were into golf. I think I would enjoy this place even more. As it stands, I'll be using it as a place to relax.

Room pics, for those curious:

Two queen beds that feel pretty comfortable. Not overly firm, like some of the Disney Resort beds, but a nice bit of give. The size of the room is decent. It doesn't feel all smooshed in. The two chairs in the left of the picture are really, really comfortable. I would love to steal one and take it home.

Another angle, and a dark picture. Sorry about that. the window overlooks the parking lot. I'm on the first floor, which is kind of a bummer, but oh well. There's a little patio area with a chair that I'll probably not be using.

I've passed on hotels based entirely on the bathroom in the pictures. A bad bathroom seems to lead to a bad room in general. This is a nice one. It's clean ( always a plus) and a nice size.

Toiletries and such for those who care to know. Everything has a nice smell to it, and I think this may be the first time I've stayed somewhere that gives you mouthwash. Neat!

They give you a robe to wear! This place is way to fancy for a shlub like me!

Alright, I'm settled. Time to make my way to Disney Springs. Tonight's agenda: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, followed by Blazing Saddles! Score!

At Disney Springs, and the weather is nicer than expected. It's a little on the humid side (obviously) but the temps are nice.

Eating poutine. I expected mind blowing. It's got the blowing part down. Oh well. Movie in an hour. Wandering now.

The Town Center addition is considerably larger than I expected. Very nice. Also nice to be at Disney Springs and not see an abundance of construction walls.

20 minutes until show time. This place is filling up quickly. I wonder how all of these little kids will react to the boat scene. That scared the crap out of me as a kid.

PRO-TIP:
If you're showing up ten minutes before the sold out show, your large party is probably going to have a tough time finding a row of prime seats to seat your whole group. You may have to suck it up and split up the squad.

I love live trip reports. I'll be following along. I had the poutine fries at DS this summer and thought they were okay. I hope you are enjoying the movie!

What an interesting experience. I'm not sure if the kids enjoyed it, but the adults seemed to. There were far more jokes aimed at the adult crowd than I remember. I also forget how much the movie drags in the beginning. The movie really picks up when Gene Wilder takes the screen. He has an amazing presence. The pace picks up substantially, which helps, but it's the subtle stuff, like the crazy glares, the eye rolling, the asides to the parents that really adds to the film. There were genuine applause when the film ended. What a fun time.

Blazing Saddles next. I'm guessing there will be far fewer kids.

Hi! Thank you for reading! I hope this is entertaining.

The poutine really was kind of mediocre. I think it was the brown gravy. It tasted like low grade powdered gravy that comes in packets and the powder is clumped together into a puck that never seems to fully absorb. The other bits were fine, but the gravy just ruins it. I'd like to try real poutine one day to compare the two, but that'll come another day.

Seated for Blazing Saddles. There are a lot more kids than expected. Do they know that this movie is not exactly kid friendly?

Also, the person next to me smells like vinegar.

Enjoying your live report! The hotel looks great and I agree with you - I've never seen mouthwash offered in a hotel room before. Anxious to hear how you enjoyed Willa Wonka movie!
