Day 1
Hello everyone. My DW and I arrived at WDW this afternoon to begin our 12 night, largely DVC odyssey. We're saving weekend points here at the beautiful Dolphin until moving into BLT on Sunday, then AKL, then SSR. We're here with the grandparents, three nephews (7, 10, 13), and their mom (DW's sis), all first timers.
DW and I arrived ahead of the rest of the clan. Have a lovely 3 room suite here. Impressed with the opulence of the Dolphin. Wow! Not a bad first stop. Room overlooks the water and we could see Illuminations from the room tonight!!
Once all arrived, I went on a journey to Epcot guest relations to upgrade 10-day park hoppers given as a gift into DVC discounted annual passes. The hoppers were more expensive than APs. Sweet!! Even have a balance in a Disney gift card.
However, I did this solo at 2:30. The boat was so stifling that I got out at Yacht/Beach and walked. All was fine, got the passes, walked into Epcot for 5 minutes just because I could, and then eschewed the boat to walk back. Big mistake! Boardwalk was radiating heat at nuclear fission temps. Thought I might begin hallucinating, so I found a DVC model villa and got some A/C! By the time I was back at Dolphin, I knew this "go rest at your resort each afternoon" advice was for real.
We drove to AKL for dinner at Boma. Checked out the animals first, of course. Nephews were awestruck by a giraffe right next to them. Boma was rocking and so, so good. Now I'm sipping a beverage by the fountain in the Dolphin lobby and anticipating tomorrow's early HS and a later dinner in Mexico, followed by Illuminations. Praying self-misters hold up.
Catch you all tomorrow with scoop on first full day.
