The Cast
Me (Goofy)and my DD10 (Princess)
Tomorrow after noon the other 10 get here. My best friends and their families.
Where
AS music. We are in Jazz 9, a regular room. The big families have suites.
Why
Celebration of 2 years of being Forever Family. My friends are coming because my obsession has rubbed off on them enough to come and give it a whirl. We came here after DD had been home for 6 moths as it was advertised as a "magical place, where dreams come true." For us it has been and continues to be.
Wednesday
Arrival today was smooth sailing. We got on the Magical Express and within 15 minutes were headed to the resort. Mr. Gregory, our driver tried to be super engaging, but not even the team of young women basketball players were "ready to make some noise!"
Check in went very smoothly too. My (not so) subtle asking for an upgrade to a suite was denied, but we are in Jazz, hopefully near my friends who do have suites. We are near the parking lot but only about a 3 minute walk to the pool, food court and bus stop.
The room is a standard room, but DD10 proclaimed it fancier than Sports and Movies. I think it was the privacy curtain that moved her over the edge. We were greeted by towel head Mickey and Stacy.
It was an immediate clothes change and we were on our way to the pool. It is about 75 out and over cast, but not the kind that causes rain. After about 30 minutes of swimming the pool staff announces that there will be a hot potato game by the dj booth.
(OK, this part is fancier than the other two All Stars. I love the fact they are rolling with a rec staff to play with the kids.)
Princess was knocked out with 4 people to go and returned with the treasure of a HSM magazine, some Tink/Fairy temp tattoos and candy. Magic!
The allure of the pool was lost as she realized we hadn't eaten in 8 hours. It was around 4 so we went back to the room, hoping beyond hope that our luggage will be waiting for us. HUZZAH!! It has arrived magically and poof! we are changed, and on our way. We got our refillable mugs and I filled mine with liquid diet carbonated caffeinated golden goodness and we headed to Downtown Disney.
I wanted Rainforest Cafe or T=Rex, she wanted Mickey Ds. So 2 burgers and some salty fries later we strolled through the World of Disney, looking for some Bolt action. None to be found. Anywhere.
(Princess has saved her pennies this year and her budgetary outlay is $17 a day.) At this point, it is burning a hole in her pocket and she must have something. At the Less Than $10 Store she decides she wants some bouncy ball, until I informed her that such ball would not be traveling with us, I would have them send it to our hotel. She goes instead for a Disney Channel Monopoly game. Whatever.
At this point, there is quite a ruckus over at the carousel. This carousel seems to have a spinny twirly Mad Hatter Tea Party thing on it and some very boisterous tween boys seem intent on making their female companions hurl. Princess must be in on this action.
Determined, she pries the last $2 from my pocket and gets herself on said spinny twirly Mad Hatter Tea Party thingy, but alas no cute boys ride this time around. Not to be denied, she twirls herself mercilessly around and stumbles off and back to me asking for more cash. Thankfully, I forgot actual real money and can not help her. Knowing that the pout/whine is useless while at Disney (as it is a magical place) we move on.
After strolling through a few more stores, the only thing I can not live without is some chocolate covered pretzels from Goofy's Candy Company. We head back to the bus and get back to the hotel around 7:00.
By the pool, they have set up a giant screen that they are playing karoke with. I need more diet Coke and Princess chooses her bedtime snack to be chocolate ice cream. So a food court stop later we are walking back to our room.
We play a round of Disney Monopoly, (note to parents, it goes WAY quicker than normal Monopoly
) snack on our various chocolate concoctions and then it is bath and brush time. It's 10:00 and she has been out for 45 minutes.
Tomorrow's plan is to hit EMH at MK until lunch and then back to the hotel for some chill time, and meet up with the rest of the Christmas Club.
Working on the pictures. Hope to get them up ASAP
