Live Report VWL - 10/03 to 10/10 (with pictures)

Thanks for all the nice photos. If you're not opposed to food pics, could you grap a few at Cape May? We'll be dining there this month and have never been. Thanks!

Will do.

:bday: thx for all of the great pics! We leave in 9 days and hope the crowds stay low! Hope you had a great birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! We hope you enjoy your dinner at CMC. We've thought about going there, but I don't like seafood, so we aren't sure if it is worth it to us. We've heard wonderful things about it though, so I am anxious for your report. Everything sounds just wonderful. Continue to have fun. Also - thanks for taking the time to share with those of us stuck at home and at work. :goodvibes

Wednesday morning update -

Well our WDW vacation is almost half over now. So sad how quick the time flies when you're on vacation.

Let's see where did I leave you last? We were back in our room yesterday afternoon resting up. DW decided to go down and lay out by the pool some, so I took the boat over to MK and just wandered around some. Crowds were very small. I rode Haunted Mansion and noticed something interesting. Since Monday, they have put up some wooden barriers on top of the brick walls next to the cemetery as you enter HM. I asked the CM and he said they were refurbishing that area. After HM, just wandered around some more taking videos and then took the boat back to VWL.

DW was still sitting out by the pool, so I gathered her and we went up and got ready to go over to Beach Club. Drove the car over and got there a little early for our ressie at Cape May, but just sat and enjoyed the lobby. Our dinner was absolutely delicious. Someone asked me to post some food pictures, so I have below. I love seafood and especially steamed mussels and clams. We both ate way too much. Here is what I had - caesar salad, steamed shrimp (cold), clam chowder, mussels, clams, crab legs, baked fish (I think Mahi Mahi), fried calamari, roast beef and pork tenderloin. And for dessert lemon cheesecake. We will definitely be eating light today.

After our pig out, we wandered over to Epcot and got a Tangerine Mimosa at the Morocco F&W kiosk and then just planted ourself on a bench outside Morocco and waited for Illuminations.

It was a great day and a great way to celebrate my birthday. I can't believe I'm 60 years old. I sure don't feel it. I still enjoy WDW as much as I did when we first came in 1982. I told DW, I hope we don't ever reach the point where we stop enjoying coming. We have this picture in our minds of ourselves tottering around WS when we are in our 90's using walkers and with me having a beer in a cup holder :lmao:.

Plan for today is head on over to Epcot and get an FP for Soarin. We then hope to do the "Behind the Seeds" tour at The Land. We've done this tour before and really like it. DW is very active in a Community Garden operated by our Church and we really like looking at the different ways of growing fruits and veggies. Tonight is EMH night at Epcot, so we plan to be out late tonight.

Okay, here are a few food pictures from the Clambake. Sorry, they aren't better quality, but I was too busy eating :rotfl:.

:bday:party: what a perfect way to celebrate at WDW !!

Enjoying your TR & photos. Thanks for taking the time and looking forward to reading more. Enjoy :goodvibes

Wow, what fantastic pictures. I've never been to WDW in fall/Halloween/food & wine, looks like so much fun! It's interesting how we all like to at pictures of other peoples vacations and good times.

I'm looking forward to the day when I can maybe take my time and capture a few leisurely shots. Traveling with kids on the go makes it rather dificult!

Happy Birthday and thanks for a great trip report!

Happy Birthday! Thanks for the great TR. I'd love to see some pictures of your room at WL if you have time as I have never stayed at VWL.

Happy Birthday again and thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures. Did you have ADR's at Cape May. We will be at BCV. I think we are going to give it a try. The food looks delicious.

Will do, the next time we have the room kind of straightened up :).

Happy Birthday again and thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures. Did you have ADR's at Cape May.

Yes we did. If you didn't have an ADR, the wait time was about 30 minutes last night.

Wednesday afternoon update -

Well our vacation is now officially half over. I hate it when you reach this point in your vacation. Oh well, time to start planning our next trip.

This morning the bus situation was pretty bad once again. We had to wait 30 minutes for a bus to Epcot while we saw at least 3 MK buses and 3 HS buses. Some people had waited at least 45 minutes. It took an hour from the time we arrived at the bus stop to get to Epcot. I told DW I'm thinking seriously about just driving to Epcot and AK in the future. We'll see (which means we'll probably continue to tolerate the buses).

Once we got there we headed to The Land and got an FP for Soarin and then went on the "Behind the Seeds" tour. If you like gardening, you would love this tour. Plus it's got to be one of the best tours offered. With DVC discount, it was only $14 per person. It lasted at least an hour and 15 minutes and was very interesting.

After the tour, we did Soarin and then watched the Circle of Life. We decided to just have lunch in The Land and shared a sandwich and had a bowl of soup with it (Black Bean for me and Veggie for DW). Both very good.

We then walked across FW and saw Ellen. I always love this attraction and hope it isn't phased out for a "thrill" ride. We then started walking around WS. Went on the ride at Mexico (DW doesn't like it since they changed it, but I do). Epcot was absolutely packed with people. It was wall to wall and very hard to walk, so we decided to just come back to the room to rest our feet.

Plan for rest of day is to head back to Epcot around 6:00 and have dinner at some of the F&W kiosks. Tonight is EMH at Epcot. So we'll probably be out late.

Here are some pictures I took this morning including some from the "Behind the Seeds" tour.

PS - Oh one more thing. I thought our political TV ads at home were vicious. Man they hold nothing against these here in Florida :lmao:.

Thanks for the live report! Love Cape May! Glad you are having a good time...the pic looking out from WL to Bay Lake/pool is gorgeous, my favorite thing about WL

Wednesday night update -

Four days down, three to go. So sad.

Epcot was absolutely packed with people tonight. It was wall to wall people in WS and all the kiosk food lines were long. Crowds reminded me of those at Christmas. DW said I shouldn't be surprised - it is the first week of F&W and it was EMH tonight. But still I was disappointed. I had hoped by coming this time of year we'd be experiencing smaller crowds. And we have everywhere except Epcot yesterday and today and MK on Monday.

We did hit 3-4 kiosks. The best thing we've had so far is the Belgian Waffles. We will definitely hit that kiosk again before we leave.

Other than that, not much else to report tonight.

Plan for tomorrow is to get up early and hit HS at opening so we can get a decent FP for TSM. Plus we have a lunch ADR at Sci-Fi Dine In. Then tomorrow night is MNSSHP, which we're both looking forward to.

Sorry, no pictures tonight. I left my iPhone back in the room tonight.

Thanks for the room pics! VWL look great. I couldn't help but notice your Apple Airport. Are you able to just take from home and plug it in at VWL without any configuring? I'm thinking of taking mine next trip in order to use my WiFi iPad if it isn't a pain to setup.

It was no problem at all. Just plugged my router in and I was set to go. I have an iPad and it works great. You do have to go through the signup web page once a day but that is no big deal. I have my Mac mini, iPad and two iPhones connected.

Wow, wonderful pictures. Any plans to eat at Artist Point? We stayed @ WL 2 years ago but never ate at AP. It is on our list to try in April and I can't wait.

We have never been to Disney in October, but now I really want to! Blue skies, not too crowded... Enjoy it for us! :thumbsup2

Definitely try it! You will not be disappointed. The food, service, and atmosphere is wonderful. We dropped our son off at the Cub's Den. He had a wonderful time and we were able to have a nice relaxing "date" night. It was perfect! :lovestruc

What a great looking sofa bed! :thumbsup2

Sounds like your trip is going very well with good weather and fairly light crowds. Enjoy the rest of your stay, and thanks for the report! :)
