Good morning everyone. After a very long journey from England (we are Americans living on London for 3 years), our flight was delayed 5 hours (Virgin Atlantic) and we missed our Thanksgiving reservations at Trail's End, we FINALLY made it to our savanna studio for our first trip home as DVC members. We were very tired when we got in at almost midnight last night, but the excitement of being here woke us up and we were like two eight year olds when walked into our studio villa and ran around jumping up and down.

We had breakfast at Mara (cold and just average) and are now getting ready for our first day of our trip (we are here until Dec. 8). There are not many animals on the Arusha savanna at the moment, but hopefully they will come out later.

It is very sunny and beautiful in the weather department. It is forcasted to be nice and warm this weekend, which we are looking forward to after coming from cloudy and cold England. :cool1:

Well, I will update everyone with some of our adventures and observations over the next few days, so check back.

BTW, isn't the free internet thing awesome?? :thumbsup2

How exciting! I just switched the last part of our trip to AKV and got a Savanna view in Kidani after a week at the BC. Enjoy your stay and take lots of pic!

Well a double Welcome Home to you and look forward to hearing more about your trip.

Have a great time! I think that when I was on the Arusha savannah, I saw more animals mid afternoon than I did in the morning.

The best time to see lots of animals is at feeding time. The worst time is during the two hours or so when the animals are brought into the barns to be checked over while the savanna is cleaned. They do this in the morning while most guests are off enjoying the parks.

Have a great time!!

Thanks for your live TR and hope you continue to have a wonderful time. Make sure you hit Boma for breakfast at least once while you are there! You will be glad you did! ::yes::

A friend & I had breakfast at Boma last month, we went out to the overlook around 10:00am and there were no animals. The cm there said they were taken in during that time. So hopefully later!

Thanks for the very nice comments and now we are looking to add a Boma breakfast in the next couple days.

Well, after I logged off from my update we got ready and headed to the Beach Club to check out the holiday deocrations. This was my DW's first time seeing this resort and it looks like we are going to have to book a stay at the villas over there in the near future. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in the door by the cast memeber who has been there forever (can't remember his name) and has been featured on a number of Disney specials. We saw the really cool gingerbread carousel display and it was amazing to see what they can do with food. We walked around the resort and took in the pretty decorations and wonderful theming. We then walked around the stormalong bay pool area and were kind of wishing we had our bathing suits.

At this point it was time for some lunch and the DW has always wanted to eat at Beach's and Cream and now was the perfect time. I really wanted to have a good American cheeseburger as it had been a long time and while I love the Brits, they just can't make a good burger like we can. We got two seats at the bar and had a very nice waitress take care of us. We enjoyed watching them make all the amazing ice cream treats. Someone ordered the kitchen sink (for those that don't know it is basically a huge sink and they put just about everyhthing they have in it) and could not believe how much they got in there. They say it serves four people, but after seeing it prepared I believe it could feed some small nations. Only in America baby!! :worship:

After lunch (and just 1 scoop of ice cream), we walked over to the Boardwalk to take in their holiday decoractions. Also very nice and another place we need to add the list of DVC places to stay (would love a boardwalk view). We were suprised at how small the lobby area was, but I guess the majority of the public space in that resort is on the boardwalk.

It was well into the afternoon at this point so we headed off property briefly to get some food stuff over at Walgreens. I don't know what it is, but we hate leaving property, even for just a small food run like that. We quickly gathered what we needed and were right back at the AKV and to our villa where we were welcomed by many animals on our savanna. It was about 4PM and it was feed time and we saw a bunch of them roaming around. Since we are in the last building on the end of the Kudu trail we walked out of room and outside on the stairwell were we saw some other animals on the Sunset savanna.

At about 5PM we were ready to get to our first park and since we had made an ADR at Tepan Edo in Japan, we were off to Epcot. The fealing of excitement just grew and grew as we got closer to the entrance and by the time we walked through the turnstiles we were about to explode. We saw the topiaries and took some photos and then it was right on to Space Ship Earth. There was a 20 minute wait, but it moved fast and we loved seeing this ride again. We agreed that this is our favorite ride at Epcot.

Then we walked over the the Seas with Nemo and Friends and were suprised that we had intermittent sound in our clam shell and a couple of the effects were not working. We then saw Turtle Talk with Crush which we just love, funny everytime. Very hight in the repeatabilty factor. We saw some diver in the tanks and a few dolphins swimming around, could watch them for hours.

It was then time for our ADR and we walked through the Lights that lead to the world showcase and took in the Christmas Tree. It's very beautiful and the music just gets you in the mood. Dinner at Teppan Edo was very good and fast. The chef we had was fun even know some of his comments were a little wierd. Anyway, we got done just in time for Illuminations which we watched from the top of the Japan pavillion. The show was awesome as always and I really loved the holiday tag at the end, what a nice touch. Let's just say one of my eyes got a little water in it from that, wonder what that was all about.

It was time for extra magic hours, but we were getting tired. We decided to hit a few rides and then head back to AKV for some sleep as we were still fighting jet lag. We rode, Maelstrom, Mexico, Journey into Imagination, and one last Space Ship Earth. I made the funniest face and were laughing so hard at the end of the ride that I could not breath.

Well, were heading off to Magic Kingdom this morning, 1 hour until opening and I have to get ready as my DW is yelling at me to get going. We are such kids. Anyway, more to come.....stay tuned. :santa:

Sounds like a great day and we will soon be there as well :)

Claire ;)

Welcome Home!! :goodvibes
Love your TR and can't wait to hear about your day in the MK. Feeling your excitement makes us wish that we were there right now. Disney during the holiday season is one of our favorite times to visit our "home away from home". :santa:

Great report! I cant wait to hear about Osborne Lights!!!

Thanks for the great update and I hope your eye is better:lmao: Happy that you saw some animals from your room. I love to sit on the balcony, so peaceful. Hope you are having a great time at MK! :goodvibes

Great report! You have more excited about BWV and BCV than I already was. I will be checking into BWV on Wednesday.

Good evening everyone from the Uzima Savanna where it is nearly 80 degrees and the sun is getting ready to set and everything is nice a peaceful. Thanks again for all the nice comments which keep me motivated to keep updating everyone as we move along on our first trip home. For this who are coming down in the next week, we will be at the merry mixer on Friday Dec. 5th so hopefully we can say hello. Not sure what we will be wearing then so you can ID us, but maybe I'll through it in another update. Also, sorry for the many typos in my report as I don't usually have time to edit as I write and then have to post so we can head out or got to bed or something.

OK, well, after I hit the send button on my last update, we ran out the door and jumped in our rental car and headed over the Magic Kingdom. Again, as we pulled into the parking lot and boarded the monorail for our ride around the seven seas lagoon, the excitement kept building until we were ready to hit each other to get our the overwhelming energy (lovingly of course).

We passed through the turnstiles just as the opening park ceremony began on the train station platform. It was so cool and of course when the train pulled into the station with all the characters we got the chills. Then the rope dropped and we hearded in the with the rest of the cattle (it was a bit busy) and took in all the nice holiday decorations (sucks that the christmas tree is not up in town square yet). As we walked up main street, me snapping pictures and the DW taking video, we got what my DW and I refer to as magic in our belly. This refers to that intense feeling of Disney magic you get that makes you want to explode. Warning: This can happen just about anywhere on WDW property. The DW gets it anytime she walks up any Main Street at a Disney Park.

We then went straight for Spalsh Mountain. Since we have been in the UK for the last 2 years, we have gone to Disneyland Paris about 5 times and Splash Mountain is not offered there, so we had been missing it big time. It was as wonderful as we remembered and since we got a little wet, we decided to take a ride on the wildest ride in the wilderness at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Now, this ride is offered at Disneyland Paris and is much better there, but we enjoyed it anyway. Next a ride on Pirates, which is sooo short here and the Davey Jones effect was not working (very disappointed). Still fun though. The next adventure was Jungle Cruise which is not in Paris. We had a good skipper and enjoyed our return to the jungle. We got helped off the pair of docks by the pair of dorks. :lmao:

Then it was time for one of the major treats we had been anticipating for our return to the world.....dole whip. Yummy!!!! We went over to Tomorrowland to get a FP for Space and realized the people mover is here (I know TTA), we had totally forgot. So, after getting our FP, we jumped on for a nice ride around Tomorrowland where were got to see space with the lights on. We quickly made our way over to Haunted Mansion and realized how great this ride is since the refurb. AMAZING. Probably the best ride in MK.

We had a FP for Splash we got in the morning and returned for our second helping and landed in the front row. So, I'm sure you figured out we got soaking wet!! Well, the DW worse than me. It was time for lunch and we needed a good American hot dog, so where else but Casey's Corner. Oh, Yummy city....loved it, as the rag time piano player filled the air with that Disney magic. After we ate, we went straight for Philharmagic, which is another perfect WDW exclusive and walked right in. What an amazing show, except the CG characters look a bit odd. Now the parks were starting to get crowded so we used our FP for space, very different than the one in Paris. It's very old school here, but wonderful in a nostalgic way. I lost my sunglasses so we picked a new pair up on Main Street, did some other browsing and then back to the AKL.

We got back and went down to the pool for an hour. It was a bit cold to swim, so we read our books and enjoyed the sun when the clouds would let us and now we are back in the room and an antelope is chasing around some zebras as we get ready for dinner at Boma.

Well, I better get ready for another meal we have really been looking forward to so, as usual stay tuned.....more to come. :santa:

Sounds like you guys are having a great time!

I will also hopefully be at the merry mixer on the 5th. So with any luck we may run into each other.

Mmmm Dole Whip...only 44 more days for me!! Hope you are enjoying your dinner at Boma another mmmm :rotfl: and don't forget breakfast and you must try the house "jungle juice."
I agree HM is great (always was) but I love it even more now since the refurb. SM is one of my favorites too although that will be closed when I go in January. :sad1:
Again, thank you for the updates and hope you continue to have a great time. :goodvibes
