We clean out the drawers with Lysol or Clorox wipes, then put our stuff away. I figure a bug is as likely to stowaway on my suitcase as it is in my clothes so there's not much difference to leaving it packed. Plus I like to move the suitcases well out of the way and that way we have more room. Also I don't like digging around in my suitcase to find socks or what have you, I always make a mess.

Clothing stays in the suitcase. We take one outfit out each day.

Shampoo, deodorent, etc. is unpacked.

Since bed bugs were brought up, has anyone had/aware of any incidents at WDW? We are going next week and the thought really freaks me out!!!

The previous person who said that bugs were just as likely via baggage is right. Simply not unpacking isn't going to escape germs and bedbugs, its not going to even have one minor chance of helping. One of the most common ways people who travel get bedbugs is on airlines when someone else brought them on board via luggage, carry on or stowed. Hotels watch for bugs, they clean regularly for other bugs (fleas, etc..), and they do everything they can to avoid the problem. Airlines do not.

I always take my clothes out and hang them up so they don't get wrinkled. If they are wrinkled from the packing, typically if you shake them before hanging the wrinkles will fall out after you hang them up. I used to travel alot on business and this saved me from ironing.

I cannot live out of a suitcase unless it's one night. It stresses out my OCD self :). I love unpacking and having everything within easy reach (although for some reason, I don't mind if my kids live out of their suitcase).

We unpack and then put the dirty clothes in the suitcases.

If it is only a night or two, I live out of the suitcase. At Disney, everything is unpacked and either put in drawers or hung up. Toiletries are also unpacked and suitcases/bags are stowed somewhere out of the way.

We do this as well. We take a travel pack of Clorox wipes with us and wipe down the drawers, handles, phone and remote control when we go. Like others, if we're staying in a room for more than 2 nights, we'll unpack and settle in. 1-2 nights we'll just live out of a suitcase.

After I inspect and wipe down with Clorox wipes I unpack. Can't live out of a suitcase at Disney. Disney hotels are the only place I unpack at, weird I know but I just feel so at home there.

I used to unpack, but, as I've gotten more worried about bugs & other germs, we tend to live out of our suitcases.

When I pack, I pack by outfit & in the order we'll wear the outfits.

We start out neat, but, by the end of the trip, our suitcases are a jumbled mess which drives me crazy!

I bring large laundry bags, & our dirty clothes go in the bags in the closet. At the end of the trip, the dirty clothes & whatever clean clothes are left get divided into separate suitcases.

But, when I did unpack, I NEVER had room for all our clothes in the hotel room's drawers & closets anyway! And the drawers would become just as jumbled as the suitcases do. How do you fit 10 days worth of clothes for 5 people in 1 hotel room? (I fully admit I tend to overpack, & we normally have at least 2 outfits per person/day plus extra outfits.)

I do unpack the majority of our toiletries. And our shoes go in the closet.

I unpack.

And because bedbugs like to live in beds, you are as likely to get bedbugs from the linens and sleeping in infested beds as putting your clothes in drawers.

Suitcase. Our OCD staying at any hotel is pretty bad. We do unpack most of our toiletries after we've wiped everything down.

Unpack. I am not a germ-a-phobe or scared of bugs. Bugs can get in the suitcases, too. I like my room to be organzied, settled, put away. We hang up shirts (mine and DH's), then in one drawer goes our shorts/capris, socks, undies, my bras, etc. The other drawers - the boys each get 1 drawer.

Shoes under the window, toiletries out. Suitcases put away!!!

We drive so I bring all of our clothes on hangers and hang them right up. I put pajama's and underwear in a zip-lock bag and put those in the drawers. I don't put them in bags to save us from germs or bugs because I don't worry about that, but to stay dry in the bathroom while we shower. (We tend to get dressed in that tiny area between the tub and the shower). Easy to get settled and easy to keep the room as neat.
