Ok so obviously I know I am not alone here but I just want to start by saying I LOVE LOVE LOVE Disney World. My first trip was when I was in kindergarten and it stuck. When my husband grew up the did go to WDW once and DL but his family preferred places like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon for family vacations. Now don't get me wrong, I love nature and walking down a trail into a canyon that was created naturally 10,000 years ago is definitly awe inspiring but some times vacations need to just be about fun and sillyness not just education and nature. This has been our struggle for the last few years. DH, who was by the way a History major in college, has been trying to convince me that a family trip to Gettysburgh or Carlsbad Caverns is what growing up is all about. While we have all loved our past trips I finally convinced him that DS would have a blast at WDW and that was just as important as learning where which army was positioned at such and such battle of some war and why that was significant to the outcome. Now I know there is learning at the parks, but yeah right, we will not be trying to force stuff into our brains this trip. It is finally all about mindless fun and food we would not normally eat at home.
Now don't think poorly of DH, he never tried to keep us away from Mickey and friends or anything like that, we just normally take one vacation a year and it has just worked out that some other place has won out.
I personally think that Star Wars weekends at Hollywood Studios is what clinched it for him; well that and the fact that we did the Grand Canyon and Meteor Crater for spring break already this year so the learning trip is done.
So now that you guys have a back story on my family I will start my vacation report. I am still in the countdown but only for one more day.
As I said earlier I have been in love with all things Disney since about age 5. I sing the songs, force my family to watch all the movies and well I am ashamed to admit it (ok no I'm not lol!) but I own WAY too many Tigger items.
I have been driving the people at work crazy with my constant chants and songs about how many days left until Disney World.
DH and DS think I am absolute nuts. I have packed, unpacked, repacked and then did it all over again. I have freaked out about not being able to find stuff just to turn around and have it under my nose. In other words I am absolutly insane right now!
I truly think that I am ready now though and all I have to do is try to remain calm(ish) for 25 more hours.
The plan is to leave about 2 am (yuck) and then drive the about 6 hours down to Hollywood Studios to be there for opening on Friday. We will spend the morning there, have lunch at Sci Fi Din In Theatre then take off and meet my BIL in the afternoon. We are sharing a condo with his family at Liki Tiki Village so we will get moved in to our home away from home and maybe get a little pool time in before an early night.
I can't wait!
I plan on doing a live review of our 8 days in the parks so I will see you all soon!
