Live from Disney World it's Karen's latest trip! Entire trip posted!

Wow. So many responses to my report. Thanks everyone.

OhMari--you should definitely head over to Jellyrolls. As a piano player, I'm sure you'll have some great request ideas fro them. I have a question for you about playing piano, but I'm going to send it to you n a PM.

Seven of Nine--we get dozens of great trip reports here ever week. To me any trip report where people are having fun is a great trip report! You might want to check out posts by Sheridac--she doesn't have a trip report, but I think you'll like her.

Jennifer48--Meeting DISers is always a blast! I've been very fortunate to meet hundreds of DISers over the years, and I have enjoyed meeting every one of them.

Jazzgirl and Budbeerlady--Definitely check out Jellyrolls. It's a blast. If you have any questions about it, please send me a PM.

Lynsue--I'm supposed to be going in October as well now. When are you going? Maybe you'll get to be part of my next trip report :)

Weareborg--Check out the Maelstrom. You'll like that too. Although Jellyrolls is much more fun--and last longer. Maelstrom is a fun ride, but much too short.

Karen: I knew you would never wait until December and I totally understand. DH and I will be there 10-19 to 10-25. (can't miss the food & wine fest). We tried desparately to get the boardwalk or beach club at the seven month mark. We were lucky enough to get two nights on the boardwalk and are on a waiting list for more. We will see what happens.

Thanks for your response.

That's about when I'm going to be there. I was going to send you a PM but see you are set up not to receive them. :( Hopefully we can meet :)

Seems to be a lot of DISers going at this time....perhaps a meet might be in order?? Just a small one. We'll be at BWV too...wonder where TLinden16 is going to be???

Karen: I went into my profile and checked the appropriate boxes. I should be able to receive PM's now. Sorry about that.

Great report Karen! It was like being there. I can't wait to go to Jellyrolls. We go Aug.20 thru Sept 1. Staying at BWV the first 5 nights so we plan to spend some time listening to the pianomen. I've never been, usually had kids with us before. I have 2 questions for you: 1-how much should I bring for tips when I request a song? I've never been to any piano bars. 2- Do they sing "Grazin' in the grass"?
Thanks so much
Lori

Lori, thank you for the comments on my trip report. You're going to love Jellyrolls, Lori!

I'd say the going rate for a song is $2-5, but putting up more will usually get your song played. The guys joke that a $20 is a Jellyrolls Fast Pass.

I'm not sure about "Grazin' In the Grass." I'm not familiar with that song. If you need song ideas, send me a PM, and I'll send you a list.

And don't forget to tell them Karen from Boston sent you if you see Scotty and Ray :)

Thanks for the report. We plan to check out Jellyrolls on our kidless trip this fall. Thanks for sharing your experiences there.

Just curious -- exactly what will happen if we tell Scotty and Ray that Karen from Boston sent us? Will there be fanfare? Cos we're more on the shy side.

Scotty and Ray won't do anything if you let them know I sent you. If may get your song played faster, and Scotty may say hello to you when he's off stage if he has a chance, but that's about it. Nothing embarrassing.

Day 3--Sunday, May 14, 2006

I then walked back over to my room, and my luggage had arrived. I quickly got settled in my room, and took the bus over to the Magic Kingdom. I was meeting some friends for dinner over at the Polynesian, so I took the monorail there. I browsed around the gift shop, and got a frozen strawberry daqauri at the bar (although it wasn't really frozen).

We were seated at a table by the window, but some trees blocked our view of the castle. I asked them to cut the tops of the trees off, but the never got around to it. The food at Ohana is excellent. I can make a meal out of the chicken wings, salad, and potatoes. The steak was a bit on the tough side, but the pork was awesome. A lot of times pork winds up being very dry when it was cooked, bu this pork was very juicy. The bread pudding with banana foster's sauce was absolutely sinfully delicious.

While we were eating, the entertainer had all the kids line up to do the hula. Chef Kim, a big hulking guy, was doing the hula near the grill, and it was just about one of the coolest things ever! We cheered him on, and he wound up coming over to say hello to our table.

Karen, here's the picture of us with Chef Kim. I wanted to take him home with us, but John wouldn't give up his seat on the plane! :confused3 :teeth:

This is one adorable man!!!

Well last fall when *I* told Scotty that "Karen from Boston sent me!" he was extremely nice about it, he knew all about the December Jellyrolls meet, and he posed for some pictures with me, AND played all 3 songs that I requested and wouldn't take any tip money! (I had the napkin in my hand when I saw him, I hadn't had a chance to go up and put it on the piano yet at that point).

So, apparently your name does carry a lot of clout! :thumbsup2 :teeth:

oh, and Scotty's a real sweetheart! :goodvibes

Thanks for posting the picture with Chef Kim, Seaspray. :)

And that is DisneyFan63 in the picture.

Lori, "can you dig it"? lol Bet we might be of the same generation. We have Friends of Distinction. :rotfl2:

Karen, I keep a list of new things that I intend to do. May I please add - -- -

Go to Jellyrolls with Karen??? It might make the smoke bearable for me. Other than the smoke I love the place.

We will be there from Sept 20th thru Oct 10th. (hint)

Slightly Goofy/Linda (we met on the bridge at AK and rode the Safari together, sort of)

Bummer...If only DH & I would have been married a month later, we could be celebrating our anniversary at Jellyrolls with SlightlyGoofy & Karen!

Yep, we have FoD! I can dig it, he can dig it, she can dig it, we can dig it! Awww, the songs of my youth.

I don't think I've ever posted to one of your Trippies before but... here I go.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us all. On the TR board. Everyone is so different, sees Disney with different eyes and has different magical moments... and it is interesting hearing them all. The funny, the sweet, the long and the short. I like them all. I appreciate the effort and care that goes in. To all.

I agree that Alfredos has one of the best caesar salads around. I don't do The Primeval Hurlawhirl at AK, like you, because I wouldn't be laughing during it. I'd be hurling. And whirling. And, unlike you, I have been one of those drunken fools stumbling out of a bar at 2:00am. Plenty of times. It's fun. Though.

Anyhow... thanks for your report. Glad I got to it. However, I have never gotten to Jellyrolls yet. But... I WILL... FOR SURE... next trip. I promise. And... I'll make a point of seeing Scotty and telling him Karen from Boston sent me.

Cheers, Mel.

Lori, we will be celebrating our 34th anniversary on this trip. Who says you cannot celebrate so many years AND so many months? ANYTHING can happen at WDW!!

It sure is mellow grazin' in the grass
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
What a trip just watchin' as the world goes past
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
There are so many good things to see
While grazin' in the grass
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
Flowers with colours for takin'
Everything outta sight in the grass
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
The sun beaming down between the leaves
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
And the bir-ir-ir-irds dartin' in and out of the trees
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)

Everything here is so clear, you can see it
And everything here is so real, you can feel it
And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real
Can you dig it
Whooo-oooh

I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig it
They can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it
Can you dig it, baby
I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig it
They can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it
Can you dig it, baby

The sun beaming down between the leaves
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
And the bir-ir-ir-irds dartin' in and out of the trees
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
Everything here is so clear, you can see it
And everything here is so real, you can feel it
And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real
Can you dig it
Whooo-oooh, yeah
I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig it
They can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it
Can you dig it, baby
I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig it
They can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it
Can you dig it, baby

I can dig it, he can dig it
She can dig it, we can dig it
They can dig it, you can dig it
Oh, let's dig it
Can you dig it, baby

I can dig it, he can dig it
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
She can dig it, we can dig it
They can dig it, you can dig it
(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)
Oh, let's dig it....

You should feel so blessed that you CANNOT hear me singing this song, or any other. My music teacher once told me that I had the sort of voice that sounded good in a crowd. Wonder what she meant by that? :rotfl2:

I know a lot of Jimmy Buffet songs too so Jellyrolls is a good place to be. :cheer2:
