We arrived here on Sunday and we are staying in a two bedroom, savannah view. We really love it. Last nite we looked out of our patio door at 11:30 to see 3 red river hogs. The nite before, two giraffes were sleeping outside our room, for about four hours. It is really worth the points for a savannah room, even if you only do it once. I was unsure about the savannah view, but we do love it and it is so quiet and peaceful.
We did get our request, Zebra Trail in the 5507 area. We were happy with the location. We are near the elevator to go to the pool very easily but not too close. The weather is great and very hot. The parks are somewhat crowded. Yesterday was a 70 minute wait for Kali, but we had fast passes.
Anyone have any questions before I leave tomorrow, let me know.
There has been one bad thing that happened to us. On the way down, I was robbed of alot of money at a rest stop in Georgia. I cried for the rest of the day and night, but felt a little better once we arrived. I was determined not to let it ruin our trip. So if traveling please be careful. I let my guard down.

I love to see those red river hogs run around. We weren't on "their" savannah, but we caught lots of views of them from the pool area and as we were walking down the hall. (We were in Kidani.)

:grouphug:I'm so sorry that someone stole your money. I was mugged once and it took a long long time before I could walk in a parking lot without a twinge of fear.

I wish you a safe journey home.

Hi Katmittens :wave2: We were staying in a Savannah view room at Kidani this week too! We just got home late last night. We were in a studio in the Zazu section of Kidani. We LOVED it!!!! We added on points at AKV 2 years ago and this was the first time we stayed there. Sooo glad we tried it because we LOVED it! In fact, we enjoyed our stay so much that we will be going back in August and staying there again, and we're bringing my mom, my brother and his fiance! We have fallen completely in love  with Kidani!!! We loved sitting on our balcony late afternoons and early mornings. It was so relaxing! Glad to hear you are having a great stay as well.

I was at AKV last week and loved it!!!

Can one of you do me a favor while you are there? Take a picture of the cocktail menu at Maji. I need to see whats in the ultimate Long Island Ice Teas they make there. I'm having serious withdrawl issues. :rolleyes1

You've made me miss AKV sooo much! Have you eaten over at Sanaa? That was such a pleasant surprise for me. If you get a chance, say "Hello" to Rose from Wisconsin who works in Mara. I hope her knee's better. She was always so sweet. Have some butternut squash soup for me, please. I'm so sorry about your experience in Georgia.
Here's what Rose looks like-

Its our home resort and we love it, we stayed in a 2 bed last November and had one of, if not the best Disney vacations to date. The whole 'kidani' experience is excelent. The rooms are wonderful, the setting is amazing. Sounds like you needed a space to relax after your eventful trip down to Orlando.

We just arrived home late this afternoon. I had some difficulty using the internet at Jambo. Not sure if it was the connection or the computer. I will fill you in tomorrow about the rest of the trip. I loved seeing all the animals from our balcony. It was so peaceful.

Something seems weird to me. I thought that the red river hogs were only on the Pembe savanna. There are no giraffes on the Pembe savanna, or it was like that.

I forgot until you mentioned it, but when I was at Jambo a few weeks ago, I also had trouble with the internet. Lots of times I'd type a whole thing, then hit "Send" and it would go back to the beginning, losing everything I'd typed. Very frustrating! It was one of the very few "glitches" about my stay. But my mouth is still watering about the excellent lunch I had at Sanaa.

When we did the Wanyama Safari on 5/10/10, I got the impression that there are a second group of red river hogs on the Arusha Savanna from the keeper Megan. But I could be remembering inaccurately. Blame it on all the wine at the Jiko dinner afterwards ;)

How is the bus service to parks from Jambo?

Although I'm not the OP, I was just at Jambo a few weeks ago and during that time (first week of May), I found bus service to be quite good.

It would be great if Jambo had some red river hogs too! I love to watch them run!

Thanks for the info. Staying at Jambo in a few months and a bit worried about the bus service since it's shared with Kidani

I'm looking forward to your report. :thumbsup2

I feel that I never left Kidani Village/Jambo House after my live and mobile streaming/photos from Easter Sunday April 04-09, 2010.

We did see Red River Hogs right outside our balcony. There were about four or five of them. We also had giraffes, zebra, ancole cattle, and numerous other animals. One nite at about 8:30 we looked out and two giraffes were sleeping out there. They somewhat kneel down. We asked a CM when we went to do night vision and she said they seldom lay down since if they were attacked they could not get up as quickly. They stayed outside our balcony until around 12:30, It was amazing. I did love seeing the savannah. I thought it would not matter to me that much, but I loved it. It was so peaceful.
In Jan. we stayed at VWL and we enjoyed the room and felt for one of the first times, we enjoyed and used our room alot, since we stayed in it more due to the cold weather. This time we spent more time at the pool and the parks so I wish I had another day to sit on the balcony and enjoy the animals a little more.
