I haven't really followed this story, so I won't comment on specific details or decisions, but I don't love the trend of remaking the classic animated films in general.
I appreciate its value as a classic and the beginning of full length animated films, but it's very dated and I don't actually have any desire to watch it.Well I am in the minority that hated the original so I am fine with any and all changes.![]()
Disney is based on a Grimm Fairy Tale (like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel ...) written in about 1812. They continued to fine tune the story for a few decades.I think it's older. Snow White takes place in 16th century Germany.

I think she is coming across as grumpy and entitled -- that certainly doesn't help press for the movie. If I have any concerns about Zegler is that whenever she caught talking about the original movie it is not very positive. Saying her Snow White is a leader, who doesnt need a man. The prince was a stalker, she saw the original movie only once, wanting to be paid by streamed hour online because she had to wear the iconic dress for 18 hours a day... she doesnt talk like she wants to be in this remake. It will be hard to believe her once she has to do official interviews to promote the movie. I would have liked it if she had a little bit more respect for the source material because it is of immense importance in cinematic history.
With all the changes, they should just have made an original story. And not called it a remake.
Well I kinda agree with her. I strongly dislike the original movie because I hate how Snow White is portrayed. I agree with her on the Prince. But these things were a product of the time. I appreciate that the original movie has a very important piece in animation and cinema history but if it is going to be remade I think that the character needs a major rework. So the real question is does it need to be remade - my answer would be no.If I have any concerns about Zegler is that whenever she caught talking about the original movie it is not very positive. There have been plenty of versions of this story in the last few years, so another one... well, who cares?Well I kinda agree with her. I agree with this statement - but I'm sure making a 21st century movie that even resembled the original animated version would have been yet another thing for people to complain about! A remake of this movie was a big gamble - probably more so than some of the others. I expect there's at least 3-4 generations of people who look back with a different eye on these originals and wonder about all the 'damsel in distress' and 'Prince Charming' storylines that were so popular then - and so head-shaking today. That storyline worked fine 80+ years ago. So I at least understand a little of what I think she's trying to say. And it's going to be controversial, because many disagree with it - like most anything today! With all the changes, they should just have made an original story. And not called it a remake.

I wonder how many of the folks complaining about the remake have actually sat down and watched the original in say, the past decade?! If nothing else, the live remakes bring the originals back to the front page again, at least for a little while.
Not exactly - it was one little person, who gets almost all the big name little people male acting roles, who complained. Likely b/c he didn't want to compete with 7 new stars in the industry for a limited role set.And then the actors who normally get the parts complained in return.
I just heard this song yesterday. Not nearly as good as the original!Haven’t heard anything about it. I do find it hilarious how outraged people get over Disney movies (and ride updates) though. Seriously, why get so worked up?
now, some country dude remaking Fast Car and sounding almost exactly like Tracy Chapman, and getting higher chart rankings, that’s sad.
I’m not a big fan of the live action remakes, but that’s just me.
Lots of the live action remakes have made bank, that's why they keep making them. I don't really understand it or like the remakes myself, but lots of them made lots of money. It will be a bomb just like all the other live action remakes. Haunted Mansion was evidently so bad that it just quietly disappeared. Of course it may not suck as bad as their recent animated efforts. They need to hire someone that can actually write decent stories. Whether or not it is a remake, a retelling, or a brand new story does not matter. Their writers suck.
