Live 14 Night- 1 Vegan and 3 Omni's Take Over WDW

Tell me how the Pumpkin Juice is. I wasn't brave enough to try it. i didn't like the way it smelled. Too much like pumpkin pie.

I LOVED the pumpkin juice. It was a little like apple juice with a much better more cider like pumpkin taste. I'm not even sure why I liked it so much. It just had the greatest flavor and was really thirst quenching. Even my husband and son liked it, but they liked the butter beer better.

I didn't smell it though, so I can't comment on the smell. It must not have bothered me. I LOVE pumpkin pie and the smell though, so maybe that is why it didn't bother me.

Oh what I'd give to have some pumpkin juice right now. I wished for pumpkin juice the rest of my trip. Even at a rest stop on my drive home my thoughts came rolling back to "oh I wish I had a glass of pumpkin juice right now).

I may try to work on doctoring up some apple cider with some pumpkin pie type spices to see if I can a taste that is close.

Don't they sell pumpkin juice in bottles that you can take home?

This is OT but how did you get involved in travel blogging? And how did you know there was a conference? I would love to get into that. Travel is one of my favorite things. It would be great to write about it.

Hey HpFan! You'd never be able to tell from the state of my blog right now, but I'm a freelance writer and love to blog. I found out about the conference from a Travel Agent tradeshow that is going on in Orlando next month. I think the registration is only $35 for the blogger portion of the tradeshow, which is what I'm going to try to attend.

Sorry to put this randomly in your review, MelanieC!!

Yep - but a little pricier, so we got the ones in a cup.

No worries :)

thanks for all the info everyone.

I think next time I'm at WWofHP I might be brave and try that pumpkin juice. Moe's sounds so yummy too.

I'm looking forward to using all this knowledge to pick out yummy vittles on my upcoming disney trip. The veggie lo mein at POP is on my list of favorites to try. Also, the flatbreads sound pretty good.

Can't wait to see more:banana:

I finally was able to find all my pictures from last year’s trip. I thought they were on my dead computer, but spent some time and they were on a back-up drive.

So finally I can finish my trip report for everyone. Mod’s I apologize for taking longer than 3 months to finish. I hope you’ll allow me to get these pics put in so I can finish this once and for all 

So I left off on our last full day at Universal Studios/IOA (our best of day which was split between these two parks.

Wednesday July 21st, 2010 - Boma for dinner. My birthday is July 14, so this is where I wanted to eat for my birthday dinner this year. This was my first year eating there as a vegan and I had high hopes. I requested to talk to a chef (was hoping for the lady chef that I hear good things about). Over walks this guy who seemed annoyed to show me around. He told me I couldn’t have the falafel because there was egg in it. I told him that falafel does not usually have egg in it and was told the ones here were fine. I had to request several times to have him check with someone else, because he wasn’t going to. He kept saying I know it has egg. He didn’t come back so I ended up going up and asking the female chef. She said the falafel was fine. She was even going to make a tofu dish for me, then finally after about 25 minutes when I was asking her he came out and seemed annoyed that I went above his head. So he said he could make me something and said he could make the Mater Paneer without the cheese.

My plates:

rc29z7.jpg

Here is what he made me. While I somewhat liked the veggies, the bowls were spicy and nothing but liquid. The bread was sort of oily. I felt bad that I really didn’t eat too much of it. Not good at all and by this point I had already had two plates and wasn’t really hungry for it.

2qsz1u9.jpg

After having the best watermelon sorbet ever (the best sorbet ever) at Jiko, the chef there told me they could get this for me when at Boma. I had asked when I first sat down if I could get a small bowl of jiko sorbet for dessert since I couldn’t eat any of the desserts at Boma. He told me yes. I was so happy the entire meal because I knew I was going to get a small bowl of heaven.

This is what he brought me after I repeated the watermelon sorbet at Jiko. While it’s really nice that he brought me such a nice display, after his whole attitude the entire meal and his smugness when he brought me this I was a little upset. I ate this and just let it go. It was good, but it wasn’t watermelon, lol.

w1d6yu.jpg

I didn’t eat the caramel sauce because I wasn’t sure it was definitely vegan and I already didn’t trust what he said since he was wrong originally about the falafel. He just seemed annoyed that I was asking him questions and especially that I was questioning him about the falafel.

On Thursday July 22nd, 2011 we went to AK. We had lunch at Pizzafari. This is my family’s favorite place to eat at AK and we always eat here both days we go.

This was the first day on the QSDP and the first day eating at Disney at the parks as a vegan. We got there at around 11:00am so it was really empty. The chef was super helpful and he was going to make me a vegan pizza.

I was really nervous it wouldn’t taste good and it far exceeded my expectations. It was very yummy. The Life is good vegan/gluten free cookies were super tasty too. I was very happy!!

On the first day we were at AK, they had this festival called Tastes of Africa. There were all sorts of special events hapening over in Africa. One of them was a special menu of snacks:

They took snack credits, so the kids ordered the mango shake. Which Ryan spilled before he could sit down as somone was getting up from one of the tables and bumped into them. Luckily since we just bought it, they gave them a new one.

I went over and got the mango icee from Andapur tea company and got the flatbread with dips (that I verified were vegan - thank goodness for the little binders )

The Mango Shake (Not vegan)

My Mango icee (Vegan, but not on the dining program - so you can't use a snack credit) This is so worth paying out of pocket though!! Makes me not so sad I can't have the Frozen Chai tea anymore.

Flatbread with dips: - this was so yummy and a great use of 1 snack credit!!

It was so hot it didn't take us long to stop again for a drink snack. This was one of Bill's snack credits for the day and we just shared to cool us off. Never mind that Bill has his eyes closed, lol.

Here is Taryn - I'm sure I'm getting a "MOM STOP" right about now.

Here are a few of us being silly - This is a tradition for us. We all pick something silly to do, sometimes it's picked ahead of time, sometimes it's not.

Dinner was at the Mara. I was super excited to eat here, but it turned out to not be a great experience. The food was pretty good, but when I went up to ask for a manager or chef to help me the girl called the chef in the back. The chef then proceeded to yell at her (loudly over a walkie talkie) and was yelling - who wants to talk to me? Finally she felt embarrased when she figured out it was a guest, but someone in the back cooking at the line was called to help me. He knew nothing and didn't want to find out. He kept saying I'm not sure what's in the side dish. I said "well can you find out". He was so put out and annoyed and couldn't seem to understand why I was asking and bothering him. Finally it was determined I could have the sauce and the side dish.

By the time I got my food, pretty much everyone was almost done. For dessert I was allowed to get a side of hummus. The food was good, but I was exhausted and upset after being treated the way I was. Also, the Mara is really hard to find as it's not off the main lobby.

Friday July 23, 2011 - DHS

I had wanted to have lunch at the Backlot express, but it was closed because the oven was not working. The family went to starring rolls and were going to meet me at Back-lot express. After waiting for them, I finally got a hold of them by phone and they were at Studio Catering Company so I headed over there for lunch. They were already eating, I waited for my meal and they were pretty much done when I sat down.

They did not have the old black bean salad side dish that was vegan, and the bread is now an Asiago bread that comes with the veggie sandich, so they had to switch to the multi-grain bread (why the multi grain doesn't come with the veggie sandwich anyway is beyond me). She told me they do not have a dedicated french fry fryer, so I got apples for my side dish and Life is good chocolate chip cookies.

Also the bread was a little cold so the sandwich was cold on the inside. Something about the bread being frozen. I had this same sandwich at Backlot express at least 2 more times before we left and it was perfect at Backlot express.

Ryan got this for dessert using a snack credit for the Beaty and the beast show

I got a pina colada frozen slushy from Villians in Vogue with one of my snack credits

Dinner was at Backlot express. The food is pretty much identical to Studio Catering, but it's larger and indoors (versus just covered) and they were super helpful and had a bepper so you could sit, get your drink while you wait for your "allergy/vegan" meal.

Saturday July 24, 2011 -

We ate lunch at El Pirata y el Perico (well rather I did, they ate at Peco's Bill).

15cg3rt.jpg

I had planned on having the veggie tacos, but they didn't have them any more. I was then going to have the veggie burrito, but apparently the rice has some kind of dairy in it (WHY???). So, he said he could make me some veggie nachos with black beans. That sounded good so I went for it.

2mq2ddz.jpg

These nachos were incredible!!

As usual, they were already chowing down.

I finally got to try the divvies chocolate chip cookies:

I definately prefer the Life is good cookies.

Did I mention how good my nachos were. Did you see all the blackbean goodness layered througout???

Tonight we met Taryn's new college Roommate (they were at Disney when we were) for dinner at Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace.

The tofu in broth has dairy in the consume. He was very gracious and made me a stir fried rice with tofu. This was so good and I wish I would have had it another day. I was busy talking to her roommates mom and her roommate that I don't think I really enjoyed it.

This was huge and tasty. I also got life is good cookies.

Sunday July 25, 2011 - MK

We did MK again today because Taryn, her rommate and were doing the Key to the Kingdom Tours. I was so excited to do this tour as I have been wanting to do this forever.

I don't seem to have pictures of lunch, but we had the same thing for dinner.

Here is a picture of the girls in front of the castle. The park was empty at this time since the park hadn't opened yet.

9sfq81.jpg

We ate lunch and dinner at Columbia Harbour House. I of course had the Lighthouse Sandwich without the slaw (the slaw isn't vegan). Lunch was so yummy that we had the same thing for dinner. They did not have any vegan snacks, but they did send someone over to Pecos Bill to get me some cookies - YEAH!

Notice all the yummy hummus

This afternoon I had a candy apple and a tofutti root beer float

I'm assuming I had some kettle corn for dinner since it was listed in my camera list for this day. I love this kettle corn. Imagine my excitement when I realized I could get it using a snack credit at POP.

Tuesday July 27, 2011

It must have been a hot morning, because I got this snack with a QSDP Credit before lunch

Strawberry Frozen Lemonade - Vegan

j77o5t.jpg

Lunch was at Sunshine season. I got a chef to help me and he was super helpful and gave me quite a few options that I could have. I went with the rice, tofu and veggies. IT was good, but I really wanted the noodles, but they were out of the vegan ones.

n5ko77.jpg

For a dessert I got a couscous salad. The couscous salad at Boma was so good that I was hungry for something silimiar.

2a1fzt.jpg

ng3u2r.jpg

The couscous salad was so good and sweet, it was like dessert. It definately hit the spot.

Look at this sign. I loved that they told you which ones were vegan - LOVE

dwe877.jpg

They even had Divvies cookies, caramel corn, silk soy yogurt, silk soy chocolate and regular milk, veggie sushi, fruits, and lots of other goodies for vegans. Evan their potato salad is vegan as it's made with oil and vinegar instead of mayo.

For dinner the boys at at the American Inn and Taryn and I ate at Tangierine Cafe.

The regular breads were not vegan, but they had the tapioca rolls (just ok). When I got my plate he forgot the couscous salad which I really wanted, so I had to go back and get that. I had a lot of food on my plate.

Later that night I got some chocolate w/ a snack credit in germany. I was super amazed it didn't melt before getting back to the hotel. I didn't eat it till we got back and it lasted me till we left.

OMG is the pina colada vegan...do you have to ask for a specific type or is it automatically dairy free?

Wednesday July 28th

Lunch at El Pirata y el Perico. Last Saturday's lunch was so good that I wanted it again!! Everyone else at at Cosmic Ray.

I got the same nachos, but this guy put them in a bowl and layered them so there was lots of black beans througout.

Thursday July 29, 2011 - Epcot

We had lunch at Sunshine Seasons. It's location makes it a good place for lunch.

I had the veggie sandwich. It was very good.

1ghgg3.jpg

I found this chocolate rice crispy bar from Life is good that said Dairy Free and got that as my snack. I later realized when I went back to get another with a snack credit that it had honey, but since I had my tray and food when I grabbed this I didn't notice. Why do they need to use honey??? It was good though. I was excited till I realized this. I was ready to get several on my way back to the resort.

The kids got school bread from Norway as a snack credit

14vmbfo.jpg

I got a Pretzel from Germany as a snack credit. Oops - I must have broken off half or my family stole it from me.

My first Kaki Gori - honeydew melon and tangerine. It was super hot and this hit the spot.

29y0enc.jpg

The others tried mine and went and got their own!!

Dinner was at DTD at Earl of Sandwich. I was super hungry for my favorite sandwich again.

2vb1nki.jpg

Veggie - Feta cheese, lettuce, roma tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, roasted red peppers and Mediterrean Dressing (to make vegan no feta and no mediterrean dressing - instead sub balsamic vinaigrette)

You either get dessert or chips, no both on the QSDP. Of course you have to have the kettle chips with this sandwich. I pile them on my sandwich for a crunch while eating it.

I even ask to have the person making it change their gloves so I don't get one with meat and cheeses all over it.

Chocolate w/ Marzipan - I ended up not really liking this. It was too rich and not really what I thought it would taste like.

Friday July 30, 2011 - AK

This morning Ryan and I got up and went down to the POP food court for breakfast since we had 2 extra QSDP credits from when Taryn and I did the Key's to the Kindgom Tour. I was dying to try the vegan / gluten free mickey waffles.

Ryan got this

154vku8.jpg

My mickey waffles. These were incredible and out of this world. I really wasn't expecting them to be that great, but they were so good. Chrunchy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. He even gave me real maple syrup from the back. I also had quite the conversation about the potatoes because I was told earlier in the week that the potatoes used some kind of fake butter that still wasn't vegan. The chef today (and it was verified by another chef) who makes them says they use oil and not a fake butter and that these were vegan.

Lunch was at AK - OF COURSE!

I got the vegan pizza again. It wasn't as tasty as the first time, but not bad.

Later I used a snack credit for Cinnamon Glazed pecans

Of course I had to have another mango slushi from Andapur Tea Company

And guess where we decided to end our vacation - At least me and Taryn. Ryan and Bill ate at POP but me and Taryn went over to DTD and ate at Earl of Sandwich AGAIN!!
