Live 14 Night- 1 Vegan and 3 Omni's Take Over WDW

So now that I am looking at the butterbeer on a computer instead of my phone, it really does look good. I bought a can of pumpkin simply because I started craving that yummy taste from the pic.

I'm catching up with your reviews! I'm so sad that Chef TJ isn't at 'Ohana anymore - especially since you had reservations and were looking forward to it  Maybe you could sneak into the Grand Floridian while you're there?

Good news is that he's still at Disney World! It is kind of nice that he's at a new location now, though. That means amazingly different food! I wonder what the price would be like now, though, since it isn't a fixed price like at Boma and 'Ohana?

Your meal at Jiko looks incredible. I'm not passing that up next time!

And I am so excited about the pumpkin juice! I don't think I'll be going to Universal this year anymore, but my sister said she'd bring me some back! :thumbsup2

I love the tofu bowls at Moe's. Good choice!

Can't wait to read/see more! I hope you're having a great time.

Sorry I haven't been keeping up. We've been getting up so early and coming back so late, that I'm basically just crawling in bed from exhaustion as soon as we get back to the room.

The QSDP has worked well, although I find I'm not that hungry for snacks. The CS places have been wonderful with the requests for altered food to make them vegan. I was wonderfully happy with the vegan soy cheese pizza and crust at pizzafari. It exceeded all my expectations. There were several changes to the menus of items that are known to be vegan, or easily fixed to be vegan. In their place, I was given other breads or even had vegan nachos made for me which were fantastic. One oft favorite meal surprises came from The Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace. The vegetarian noodle bowl is NOT vegan, as the consume contains dairy. The tofu over rice is and he made it in a clean wok and threw in the rice and made more of a fried tofu rice and it was so good. The only CS place that hasn't had vegan cookies as a snack was Columbia Harbour house , but while we ate he sent sent someone over to Pecos Bill and got me some. He brought it upstairs for me, and gave me not only the life is good cookies, but also gave me a package of Divvies cookies.

Sounds like you folks are having a great time! Tammy told me yall were there a few days ago, and I just found this thread. Keep on having a fun time with your family, and stay cool.

I was wondering how in the world you were keeping up! Kudos to you for hanging in with the live posts - I would be completely exhausted too. I think it is awesome that you are having such great responses at the CS restaurants. Even though I'm not veggie or vegan, I do have meat free meals regularly (that's why I adore veggie and vegan reports). I enjoy hearing your options.

I think it's pretty awesome that you're even doing live reviews in the first place. I wouldn't be able to keep up with that...kudos!

Hi Jimmy,
We are having such a wonderful time here. It feels like we have been here forever. We've had wonderful weather, although this summer feels like the hottest we have had. Tell Tammy I said hi!!!

I just told Tammy Hi from you. It is nice to have a really long trip, because you can begin to relax and really soak it all in.

This summer has definitely hit some records. FL. is no exception. We were there in early may and hitting records of 95-96 several days.

Today is our last full day here, we leave tomorrow morning. I'll try to catch up on Sunday. I can't wait to share all the great vegan food I've had. It was so much easier and yummier than I could have ever imagined.

This morning the chef at pop made Mickey waffles for me and gave me pure maple syrup. I was in total heaven and they exceeded my expectations.

Vegan Mickey Waffles sound like heaven right about now! (Even though it is 1:22 in the afternoon! :rotfl:)

Also, on another breakfast note, does anyone happen to know if it is possible to get vegan Tonga Toast from Kona?

I asked Disney this via the dietary hotline, but I didn't receive a reply. There was some outdated information in a vegetarian Disney World book that said you could with some advanced notice. I have an ADR for breakfast there in hopes of getting some vegan tonga toast.

I seriously can't wait to see how you fared at the POP food court since that's where we're staying! I hope you guys are having super fun! I can't imagine how people do live reports at the end of each day! I'm so tired by the end of the day I could fall asleep during the fireworks! Hehe!

Yeah, I didn't keep up with the live report too well. Once we started on the Disney portion of the trip we were up early and getting back so late at night that I couldn't keep up with the live part, except for an occasional report.

We left WDW this morning, and are in South Carolina now. We were so sad, but very tired. Now we are looking toward to getting home. I can't wait to see my kitties.

For lunch today we stopped at Subway. The people working there were not the nicest at all. I asked them to use new gloves since there they touch meat, cheese, mayo etc. The first girl who did the meat and cheese rolled her eyes at me and acted like I was causing her great pain and tons of extra work to put on new gloves. I got a veggie on Italian bread with olive oil, vinegar, pepper and oregano. It was actually a super tasty sandwich. I'm strange and like to add chips on my sandwich for crunch and an added texture.

As for Pop, I only ate there twice. Once the first night and yesterday morning for breakfast. They were so accommodating and all you have to do is let one of the servers know you want to talk to a chef about a dietary special order. Key don't understand vegan (sometimes the servers don't know what it means), just say allergy and the usually understand that and immediately call for a chef. For breakfast one chef said the potatoes were made with a butter substitute and did have some dairy in it, then another chef the morning I ate there said they were only cooked in canola oil and salt. When I questioned him and then wasn't sure what to do because of the conflicting info, he called out another chef who was the one who told me about the butter stuff, but as they talked the other chef first repeated what he told me and then remembered oh wait they don't make them like that anymore. Very confusing to get conflicting info, but I think it should have been correct because he swore up and down that it was oil. The one who told me bitter spread said they switched because of the way it mixed or something like that. The potatoes are what I got in place of the meat on the waffle platter.

The chef in the evening said they would workbwirh me to make something I could eat. Don't forget the olive tepannade had anchovie paste in at. The also have tofutti ice cream and other things like soy cheese, etc.

great reviews!! This is very helpful to me. I will be onsite at POP over labor day and have been trying to figure out eating plans.

Where did you get vegan nachos? That sounds awesome!

Can't wait to read/see more reviews. :surfweb:

I got them at El Pirata y el Perico. The got rid of the vegetarian tacos, but did have vegetarian buritto, but wasn't 100% sure about the ingredients of the tortilla, and the guy said the cilantro seasoning on the rice had dairy, so he offered to make me the nachos with corn tortillas, black bean corn salsa, and refried beans. I got it twice it was do good. There is a fixings bar too, with lettuce, tomatoes and salsa. It was really good. The second time I got it he put it on a salad bowl, and layered everything. It was like a salad. I'm notvsurw about the rice, because the guy at the cash register showed me the ingredients and it looked fine. I was happy with what he was offering to make so I went with it.

Also, while the CS in Mexico at Epcot is being refunished, the temporary CS had a guacamole and chips that looked out of this world. I had thought about asking for the beef nachos to be altered and getting guacamole instead of beef, but I wasn't there at the tight time and my DD18 and I went back down to DTD that night and ate at Earl of Sandwhich again. I think u had Earl of Sandwhich about 4 times. After the initial bother of finding out the ingredients it was easy to order and the veggie sandwhich sans cheese and subbing the balsamic dressing was to die for. I'd get the kettle chips and add them to the middle if the sandwhich for chrunch. Yummo!!

I just finished reading all your reviews, and loved them! We're going to be in Orlando next month so that I can attend a Travel Blogger conference, and we will be staying at Hard Rock hotel...I can't wait to try the restaurants in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and get some Pumpkin Juice!

I'm really sad about Chef TJ, since I never even got to experience him at Ohana, but am really excited he's still around and can come up with something new at the Grand Floridian for me!

I can't wait to read your reviews. There are a lot of places you ate that I have on my list of places I'd like to eat, so I hope they were good!

This is OT but how did you get involved in travel blogging? And how did you know there was a conference? I would love to get into that. Travel is one of my favorite things. It would be great to write about it.

Tell me how the Pumpkin Juice is. I wasn't brave enough to try it. i didn't like the way it smelled. Too much like pumpkin pie.
