Little Princesses in the Parks?

Is it common for little girls to wear their princess gowns throughout the day in the parks? For instance, after a princess character meal or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique appointment?

Do they wear them on the attractions and everything? Just wondering if we should plan to go back to the room to change, or bring a change of clothing or what to pack for the parks on those days...? The gown would be kind of bulky to carry around all day...

I would love to hear how others handle this. Thanks! :)

DD will wear hers until she can't stand the heat or being itchy and the amount of attention she's getting greatly impacts her decision.

I always have a change of clothes with me just in case.

I will say that you'd be really surprised at how small you can get one of those princess dresses. I carry a gallon sized ziplock bag, fold the dress to fit in the bag, zip the zipper on the bag but leave a tiny bit open, roll the bag to get the air out and then seal the bag, once you get the air out it's not that bad at all, fits right back in the backpack (and I carry a small one) without taking up tons of room.

We always take a break in the middle of the day to get out of the heat so sometimes she'll make the morning session and the evening session in the dress. She's very into princesses right now so that would be the reason for surviving in it.

Hope that helps.

My girls have always just worn the dresses around the park.

My DD had her sleeping beauty dress on the whole day we were at the park last march and she even wore it that night to the pirate and princess party. she LOVED it. She did complain when we rode splash mountain that it got her "pretty" hair wet and when we went on the ride with stitch....he spat on her!!! LOL.... She and my niece are wearing Jasmine outfits this year after their appointments at the BBB. They will prolly wear it around all day. but we'll take a change of clothes just in case!!!

My daughter wore her dresses to the PPP, and the breakfasts. She was only 1.5 years old last summer. She wanted them off after the "event." We won't be back until next summer. Who knows how she will be.

I would take a change of clothing.

I plan on bringing a change of clothes for DD but I am pretty sure she will want to wear her dresses all day long. She's not even 2 but already she's so opinionated on her clothes!

:goodvibes

When DD was 19 months, I had a frilly one piece outfit with Aurora on it that she wore to CRT breakfast, and I was going to change her into a different outfit so that it didn't get dirty or anything, but she was just so darned cute in it, I left her in it all day. The next time we went she was 2.5 and I didn't take any of her dress up dresses and she was upset that she didn't have one to wear when she saw other girls dresses up. Next time we go, she will have at least one dress to take with her.

HAHA! If you have a little Miss Pistol like I do you'll never get it off her! Like a fool, I left my DD5 dresses laying on her bed as last minute packing. They never made it into the suitcase. First day of an eight day trip, my daughter picked out a Snow White dress and she wore it everyday of the trip all day long. (on top of regular clothing.) I will say it did look kind ratty by day 8, but I just went with it. I have a great picture of her all princessed up with a lollipop stuck to the front of it. I only got it off at night time. The only way I was able to do this it tell her that it would get wrinkled and the iron would melt the fabric. Little Miss Pistol Smarty Pants replied, "mommy it's not made of ice cream!" The dress was $65 at WDW, ouch! But I will say I have gotten my money's worth!

Thanks for all of these replies-that helps me tons! I am smiling as I am reading about other little girls who are opinionated about wearing their princess dresses. That sounds like my DD for sure. We gave her a Tinkerbell dress last night for our "20 days to go Disney Party" and she is so excited and has not taken it off since. I had to peel it off of her when she fell asleep in it last night! :-) I like the idea of putting it in a plastic bag and sort of shrink wrapping it, that is a great idea, and I see now that it doesn't take up much room. I suspect she will want to keep wearing it though anyway. Again, many thanks to all.
