Little People, Big World ~ Season 6 ~

Awwww, I missed it. :guilty:

During their last season, there was a lot of tension between Matt and Amy.There was one episode (during the major house remodel), Amy made a remark that they should seperate. I was hoping that since they hadn't been on air for awhile, they would have worked out there differences.

I remember way back when they were first on TV before the show really aired, that Amy wasn't all too happy with Matt.

I've always had this gut feeling - since the very first show - that Amy and Matt have never really been on the "same page" - so to speak..

If they are having marital problems, I don't think being on a reality show will prove to be beneficial to them in the long run.. Look no further than J&K..

I must have missed a few epsiodes - what happened to the family friend, Mike? They are referring to him in past tense, and they dedicated their last soccer game to him, and showed his picture in a frame. So I'm guessing he has passed away.

I think Matt & Amy will be just fine. My DH worked with Matt in the software business in the late 90's, early 2000's. He said Matt was headstrong & difficult to work with (ok, his exact words were "everyone though Matt was an ***"). I think of that whenever I see Matt on TV, he does seem like someone who must have his own way. I think Amy knows that's how he is, but he frustrates her. He did give DH a signed copy of his book "Against Tall Odds" which he was promoting on company time at company events. I read the transcripts of his court trial (he sued the company they worked for - DH still works there) - he won a large settlement because he claimed he was discriminated against because he was a Little Person. I don't know why, but after reading about that, it made me think less of him. He really was a jerk about it, and from what I read I did feel like he was pulling the discrimination card to win big. But that's just my opinion, I'm sure there are facts out there that I don't know.

In any event, I still do enjoy watching the show! It's nice to see a house messier & more disorganized than mine!!!

Mike passed away over a year ago, last spring.
Molly was graduating from 8th grade and his funeral was like a few days before graduation.
Matt missed Molly's graduation and Mike's funeral, because he had to go back to Afghanistan or Iraq.
The time line is so goofy, because Molly is now a Sophmore, and the twins graduated last spring.

Did you hear Zac ask his mom, "if dad had someone come in and clean his room?" Amy actually said yes.

Matt gave me the chills last nite, when he stared down Amy, because she wouldn't agree to his plans, to invest money into another home.

Hey, I never ever read from anyone that used to know Matt Roloff. The only thing I knew about him, was that he still gets royalities from being an Ewok, in the Ewok movies from the late 70's, early 80's.

Thanks for the update - I DID miss some episodes! I remember when Matt was in the Middle East helping a little boy with some medical problems. That's too bad about Mike, he seemed like a really nice guy, and the kids really liked him. I always thought it seemed like they looked up to him as a father figure. They all treated him like a member of the family.

YES I caught when Amy said that yes they had someone in to clean. I thought to myself "must have been a blind person!" :rotfl2:

I had no idea Matt was an Ewok! I have to go dig out his book, I never did read it. I'm going to the cabin next weekend, that might just be the book I take along with me.

I agree with you, it was rather chilling the way he stared her down. It also struck me as odd that she not only didn't go to the dr. apt. with him, but didn't even really seem to care what the results were when he tried to share them with the family (like he's cried wolf before? who knows). Pretty sad that he had to ask the dog for sympathy! They seem very icy with each other. I just think back to that early season where she had to go back to work even though she just wanted to keep on being a SAHM because one of his schemes didn't work out. He seems like a "live for the moment" kind of guy, and she's looking ahead and worried about all the $$ that seems to run through his fingers.

Course it could all be editing;)

In Amy's defense, she is a school teacher. She must likely was at work when Matt was at the appt. :confused3

If you read the epsiode guide for this season it seems pretty tense, and it's typical Matt in action. A Caribbean vacation that Amy can't get off work for - and he goes anyway with the guys....then on Mothers Day weekend & the twins' b-day he goes off alone on another trip...then leaves another trip early to come home alone...then buys 2 Mercedes at the same time & can't afford them....I was reading that all out loud to DH & he just chuckled & said "Matt hasn't changed. Whatever Matt wanted you had better bow down to & go along with or he made waves." He also said Matt always seemed to live above his means, talked big (bragging about material things & money) & started a million things & never finished one. Sounds like the Matt they portray on LPBW! I agree it could all be edited for ratings, who knows. I'll still watch. Until it turns into a media joke like J&K I will watch for entertainment.

I just hope Amy has $$$ socked away for herself and for the kids. Maybe because she's from MI and what we've seen of her family seems very nice, I've always thought she had some common sense.

And considering how much "ambition" Matt has, it sure doesn't seem like the twins have much! I've got the feeling that daughter's going to end up supporting them all someday...

(My favorite is still Rocky, even though he's looking pretty old;))

I had to catch up with last week's show, last nite,
and I thought my dh was going to go crazy, he hates watching Matt Roloff.
Maybe Matt's idea of a vacation is different from Amy's.
The very first show of the season, she was talking about going to Europe with the kids, and Matt doesn't want to do Europe.
He said something stupid, about inviting girls over and swimming in the pool.
And he bought Mercedes?
I'm thinking, he was a watchin, to much of Jon Gosselin last Spring.

How interesting that your hubby knew Matt! Doesn't sound like he has changed much :rotfl: I think Amy gets really frustrated with Matt and his ideas as well, then again Matt gets frustrated with the lack of housekeeping. Both issues would drive me crazy. I really do enjoy watching their family, the kids sure have grown.

BTW Tara....I am still enjoying the F&F candles, Thank you again.

A few things that strike me as odd:

Amy didn't go with Matt to the appointment and some posters question her motives. Matt got some very bad news, but I feel was definitely playing the martyr. Dad's dying, dad will never walk again, then he turns around and says well I'm going skiing! He's looking for sympathy when it seems like a good idea, then when Amy voices her concern, he doesn't want to hear it.

If I was Amy, I'd be plenty upset with him too. There's no partnership there -- Matt does whatever he darn well pleases and he doesn't care about how it affects his family. He comes and goes as he pleases, he doesn't parent his kids EVER and yet he holds all the money. I feel Amy is justified in her anger at his playing Russian roulette with their futures. If he goes out and buys all this stuff, mortgages new homes, etc. and dies tomorrow, she's left holding the bag. I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm going to assume it won't be pretty when their books are looked are carefully. I think Matt is spending way more money than he's bringing in, and he has a cavalier attitude about it. His attitude is hey, I'm probably going to die soon, so what do I care? :confused3

TanyaLovesPooh - rumor has it there's another F&F sale 11/12-13 - but it's when I'm in WDW!!! I'll let everyone know when it becomes official!

You can go to TLC.com & click on shows, LPBW, then episodes, to read about the upcoming events.

I'm still sad about Mike passing away! It seemed like Mike was more of a down-to-earth father figure to those kids than Matt sometimes. But again, they could edit it to look that way for ratings.

I have to say I was quite worried after watching the new shows, I would hate to see this family break up, the thing is Molly and Jacob will still be at home for years and they make it sound like there all leaving within a few months. I think what I see is a family at a crossroads and time will will tell what happens. But I must say I really love this show, DD and I look forward to it.

Thank you!

I am still sad about Mike too, he seemed like such a wonderful person to the family.

Maybe she took lessons from another family and withdrew some and put it in her name ;)

I do think she shows she's worried on the show..I thought it started on the Riverboat trip, when he kept leaving the family vacation. I posted on another thread that it sure didn't look good to me. The looks Matt gives her, just makes me want to bop him. He just wants to spend and spend, even though she is worried about money.
I think we'll see a vow renewal show soon, and we know where that leads!

you've touched on a number of points i've thought of as well.

i've always thought matt was very self centered. in the early episodes their financial situation did'nt seem the best, amy was always stressing over it but matt would'nt seek employment because he only wanted to do what he wanted to do (which seemed to be pursuing his own things). in later episodes he acts more like a child than a spouse, pouting if he does'nt get his way, agreeing to something w/amy and then going behind her back to do what he originaly wanted (usualy spending money), trying to always be the center of attention (i remember one episode in particular-they were celebrating something for one of the kids and matt was very openly trying to grab attention and change the focus to himself, amy finaly snapped at him to knock it off that this was such and such's moment, to let them enjoy it, that it's not 'always about you'). now with this season it's about him wanting to spend money on the castle (and i can't fathom how much that cost-those decorations and what was likely a custom made dwarf sized suit of armor must have cost a fortune) and the other stuff "i've wanted to do since i was a kid". even the daughter said she thought the castle's completion was more about what her dad wanted vs. being something for her.

what realy unimpressed me about matt is what we've seen in the most recent episodes. he talks about how he supposedly wants to invest to set the kids up for their future but then when amy points out that the two older will need help for college soon, and they've got 2 more down the road, and thats for their future he just blows her off and starts rambling to the camera about what a great investor he's been in the past and how he wants to do it again. he's looking at surgery and the doctor warns him that AT BEST he's got 6 months with the current condition of his spine, to be careful-but matt WANTS to go skiing because matt WANTS to have that as a memory in case the surgery does'nt go as planned so he can look back on it because he will be the one impacted and not able to do what he wants. GIVE ME A BREAK-he does'nt think amy and the kids will be impacted if he becomes paralyzed? who does he think will likely provide for his care and wellbeing? he's said in the past he (as well as zach and amy) are uninsurable and they have to pay all their own medical costs, so who does he think will suffer the consequences of the financial burden of him potentialy creating further problems with his spine or needing emergency vs. planned surgery?

as for if the twins are going to college-there's what seems to be a very balanced blog (as far as celeb blogs go:rotfl:) on the show/family and it reports that both boys are attending a community college that's conveniently only about 10 minutes from the farm. it's an interesting site to read-very complimentary as to some of the family but they do warn parents of kids to discourage them from trying to contact the roloff kids/their friends through their myspace or facebook pages-or to even post comments. apparantly there's been a documented history of jeremy and his friends purposly sending absolutly vile, hateful and derogitory messages to teen fans, and there was some kind of scandle last year that matt and amy publicly aknowledged as being absolutly true wherein jeremy posted some kind of vile racial and gay slurs on his public site:mad::sad2:

Unfortunately, I have no problem believing that. Jeremy and Zach seem to lack common respect for people.

I wonder what TLC thought of it?

OK both episodes were crazy last night.....Zach does not seem the least bit interested in school. Kinda sad as I always recall him being a pretty decent student, caring about his grades. :sad2:

The business with trashing that house is disgusting. Those kids have no respect for A&M if they feel it is ok to trash their OWN property like they did.

I was so glad to see Matt's project of cleaning the basement.

Allowing Jacob to skate around in that house on rollerblades is ridiculous.

Matt & Amy do not seem to be on the same page at all as parents. :sad2:

Amy needs to STOP being the kiddos FRIEND and be their MOTHER. :headache:

I used to think that Matt & Amy weren't on the same "page", but after watching the most recent episode, I don't think they're even reading the same book !!

I'm thinking that once the kids have left home, they will likely split.. They're constantly going in two different directions - different hopes, different dreams, different goals.. Definitely growing apart..
