Little People, Big World ~ Season 6 ~

I think if he didn't make it so obvious (by saying it) he was working the system, if it wasn't said they only had one day and didn't want to wait in line (after he said things like being at butt level, but that wasn't the original reasons given) it would have been different. Saying he didn't want to wait in line because they had limited time and he was going to try to work the system, just left a bad taste in my mouth, and made it hard to enjoy the rest of the show.

It rubbed me the wrong way as well. (I just caught up--so I'm probably behind all of you!)

Especially--since they got their assessed the line, Amy didn't want to wait and Matt had that "Eureka" moment. Additionally--he wasn't saying it was just him, but said his "little boy" (who is an 18yo man btw....little person yes, but he implied as though it were a disabled child). Also, Amy didn't really like that plan and stated she doesn't like using her LP status like that. And that is what Matt did. He used their disability--when they didn't have to see the Eiffel Tower and had poorly planned their day.

*****

On Monday nights show--absolutely painful and quite honestly as much as Matt is portrayed (which is hard not to portray him in that manner since he pretty much says he skirts the family when he wishes to do things his way)...I'm not sure I could be married to someone like that. He comes across to me as extremely manipulated. Grand Canyon in his backyard? Seriously?

The soccer thing was extremely disappointing. I'm sure they still could have gotten sponsors by reducing the sponsor graphic on the shirt. But with Matt--bigger is better, promise the moon ALWAYS...except to his wife. Just steal her thunder and her dreams.

My impression anyway.

In case anyone's interested ... i followed the link above to Amy's charity, then to her Tweiiter then to Matt's. Mtt posted that they started filming season 6 this week, so this is not the end of the show.

It might not be the end of the show but sheesh, no one wants to sit around watching these two fight it out over every little thing in their lives. :headache: :headache: :headache:

These are the previews for Monday, May 3rd.
May 3, 2010 8:00pm
The Statesmen
As Zach's LP soccer team gathers at Roloff Farms to train for the World Dwarf Games in Belfast. Matt and Amy get their wires crossed over the training agenda, and Zach is stunned when Matt announces he won't be traveling with the team to Northern Ireland.

May 3, 2010 8:30 pm
Belfast and Furious
Matt skips the opening days of the World Dwarf Games, and Amy must scramble to get everyone registered to compete in the events. Juggling the roles of coach, player, manager and mom pushes Amy to her limits.

Matt SKIPS the opening of the WDG??? OMG!!! I am soooo not liking Matt at all lately. He never wants to go with the family on vacation and IF he does go, he always has to join them later on. :headache:

Now look at the preview for 8:30pm ... :headache::headache:

Amy will be going on a cruise (no idea if Matt is going) for her charity soon:

I um, do go on another board, ""Cruise Critic" and Amy was invited to the 3 nite cruise over Thanksgiving when the Oasis did a run to Haiti. In a way, I'm glad Amy is using herself and starting charities. Security is so tight with RCCL, I can't imagine bringing anything besides money to offer the Haitians.

Doris, did you stop in Haiti on your cruise in February?

The show made it sound like Matt took over everything, and appointed himself Manager of the Team. I think Amy did a sit down interview and said this. But Matt never said anything on the show. But he did take Matt and his friend to the graphic place for uniforms, and anything Zac said, Matt ignored him, and wanted what he suggested. If Matt doesn't go to Ireland, it will be another excuse again for Matt.

But I'm thinking there is a lot more to this whole story. Zac keeps referring to them fighting, yet the show really never shows them actually fighting, just Amy questioning Matt, and Matt keeping secrets from Amy. I just don't trust TLC, the played the pretend game with the Gosselins, and I think they are doing the same with the Roloffs.

Totally agree with everything you have said..

Unless there are some major changes - on both sides - I don't see these two lasting into their "golden years"..:(

This is very interesting that you say that. I'm wondering what in your opinion would make it a fight. Or are you saying they are "creating" these fights?

We did not, but you prob know from being on Cruise Critic that several other ships brought a lot of stuff in their holds to Haiti.
What do you mean by security being tight? I'm curious, because we do bring items for school children to some of the poorer countries we have visited. There is a guy named Gus that does tours and he will even bring you to the school. Or you can just give him the items.

No, not creating fights, but I see Matt and Amy having discussions. Zac claims they do not get along and they are fighting. I'm saying, TLC doesn't show the before and after. Like when Matt took Amy out to see the Grand Canyon he created. She just commented that it is a big hole. Matt said, he has to keep creating visual effects for the pumpkin season, so people keep coming to the farm. So what I am saying, Matt asked Amy to take a ride in the mule to see this. They didn't show Amy upset before the ride, and they didn't show Amy after the ride back to the house. Was Amy crying, laughing, did she storm off the mule when the returned to the house? We just get to see Matt showing Amy what he does on the farm, and Amy commenting asking how much did it cost. Then you hear a comment from Zac, that his parents are fighting and not getting along. So I'm saying, "what doesn't TLC want us to see." Are Matt and Amy together?
Amy made a supper one night, and Matt asked if he could eat with them.
The previous clip, had their hired hand bringing Matt lunch. Amy made a crack that he has his own personal chef now. It's just odd comments and statements both of them make, that doesn't make any sense.

I guess I was thinking along the lines of water, food. Not living supplies, or school supplies. On our ship, people had their soda, water, booze and irons confiscated. They tagged them, and after the cruise you could stop and pick them up.

They toured Europe last summer.
Monday's nite show was filmed in February.
They said they have been working on Zac's Little People World Soccer Tour.
You could tell, they put together pieces for the whole show.
Especially when Amy walked into Matt's office and told his assistant to leave, she needed to talk with Matt.
I think Amy was a lot more upset, than what was actually shown.
The whole soccer situation didn't make any sense.
I knew Amy was upset, but then she said, "she just wanted to make sure Zac's team got to Ireland."

I think this is one thing that aggravates me the most with THIS show is that it is all over the place. It does not run in succession. :headache:

We didn't even have a final Europe epi ... I thought we would see the family as they wrapped up their European vacation and were headed back to the farm ... :headache:

We've never had a problem bring a single case of water or soda on any cruise, but on several of the cruise lines we had to carry them on (we usually catch a shuttle to Walmart on one of the first places we stop, and get our soda then, since it's not always feasible to carry it on). Irons aren't allowed and if they find them your luggage goes to the 'naughty' room and you get to watch take them and as you said, they are held until the night before the cruise ends. But steamers are usually allowed :confused3. Booze depends on which cruiseline and if you are willing to pay the fee to have it marked as yours. Our friends paid the extra, because they wanted their own wine at diner. There really wouldn't be anything that I would have hand carried to Haiti, although several ships took money for donations.

I went on TLC's webpage, and it said, they ended the European vacation in Ireland, for the soccer tournament. I thought Monday nites show was taped this past January, but it was last Jan. Feb. 09 and the soccer tournament already happened.

TLC must have wanted to start this season on a happier tone. Can you image if they started it with Monday's show. At least it would of made a lot more sense, but it would of turned a lot of people off and not tune in.

You took a Disney cruise right? I think I read on Cruise Critic last summer that RCCL started cracking down on what you could bring onto the ship. My girls bought rum and tequila on our last day in Cozumel, and they would not allow even one nite to have the alcohol in our room. They tagged it, and brought it the morning we were to depart. Then we could have it.

Our last cruise was Disney, but in the last three years we've been on RCCL, Carnival, HAL, Celebrity and Norwegian each a couple of times. We don't drink alcohol, so I was mostly answering to your soda and water. Most ships won't let you bring it on in your luggage and if they catch it in the scan, they bring it to the room and you have to come claim your luggage. Most ships collect the alchohol you buy off the ship in port on the way back on the ship. If you bring your own on, most also have a fee you can pay, so you can keep it (uncorking fee). I think most give it back the night before (late) so you can pack it in your luggage before they take it away. If you are using their luggage service, and flying, (ior even if you are not) if they wait to give it to you, and you can't take it in your carryon, you would lose it at the airport (or not be able to fit it in your luggage if you are adding it on the floor of the airport). You can find all sorts of info in CC as to which ships let you bring it aboard, but we haven't had any problems with any of them with soda and water, and we've had friends bring on alchohol..but they were willing to pay the corkage fee. I think Disney and maybe Celebrity let you bring some on without a fee (wine, maybe it was).

I think Amy posted on her site that she is in Amsterdam giving talks right now. I wonder if they tape any of that trip.

It is hard to keep up with this show and where they are in time.

My theory--and my theory only...so please...NOBODY GET OFFENDED.....

I think Matt has a Delorian somewhere on the property. It is just a matter of time until he show us his Flux Compacitor (sp?) and *snickers* that Amy knows nothing of it.

:rotfl:

He bought it with his royalities from the movie Star Wars. He was an Ewok, and I remember he said he still receives checks.

He may still be getting checks from his settlement when he sued his former employer (who my DH works for). DH has always had a very poor opinion of Matt & when he sued the company for handicap discrimination everyone was done with him.

What was the nature of the complaint for him to be receiving paychecks?

(And based on the Eiffel Tower incident and your statement--it seems he may be abusing his disability and I cannot stand it when people do that. I had someone grandstand at an event that I was leading at school one time and then afterwards I got lectured about how my meeting was inaccessible to the deaf girl who had attended. Problem--deaf girl was aware of services and her hearing dog was disrupting the entire meeting. I was livid b/c though they were trying to "educate" me...I really felt they were being jerks about the whole thing since they knew I didn't have the services they claimed I should have had available. I felt that they did stuff like that on purpose--but there are better ways to spread disability awareness. Like perhaps call ahead (the advocate was hearing)...talk to me before the meeting...control the yapping dog...But I digress....) I have all the respect for people with disabilities--but when someone tries to put people in their place instead of being nice about it...I just have no patience for that.)

I have no idea, you can google it & get the whole court transcipt (at least you could a few years ago when I was curious & went to read it!) From what I can remember, the employer wasn't ensuring that they put Matt in a handicap accessible hotel room when traveling for business....and he sued & won. I remember a few seasons back when Matt was trying to start his own company to sell items for handicapped people (or maybe it was for dwarves) to use in hotel rooms, he mentioned having to sue his former employer for pain & suffering because he wasn't comfortable when travelling for business. Then he was laid off or let go & he sued for that using discrimination as well. I think he lost that lawsuit.

I don't know the details, DH worked in a different office than Matt but they traveled together a few times & had events together. This was probably about 10 years ago.

Let me go google & see what I can dig up. I better get my facts straight here - or I'm sure I'll hear about it! If anyone else has links for the lawsuit please post.
