Little known fun things to do?!!

I love the idea of updating the old thread!

Things we love (some have already been mentioned):

- Push in Epcot and Devine at AK
- Candy Lady Epcot- she can no longer give away any candy after she makes it, but still awesome to watch
- Wishes Dessert Party- so nice to enjoy a little dessert and not be shoved or squished during the fireworks (tables are assigned so no fighting over spots)
- Hidden Mickeys (obvious but so much fun! there's a few books and some apps)
- Sword in the stone at MK- occasionally a CM is controlling it and will allow it to be removed (partially) kids get the best looks on their face when it works!
- Kim Possible Mission (being replaced with Agent P- Phineas and Ferb) at Epcot
- Haven't tried it yet but Sorcerers of Magic Kingdom sounds like fun! You sign up at the Firehouse
- Coca-Cola Cool Zone in EPCOT and watching people try Beverly for the first time (there's a thread of pictures on here somewhere)
- The Beach Club shows movies on the beach
- Electrical Water Pageant no crowds, and something different to watch from outside the parks
- The UK phone booths really work! You can call them and watch to see who answers (lots of fun!) (407) 827-9862, (407) 827-9863, (407) 827-9861
- The Singing in the Rain umbrella is in the Streets of America section - facing the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show area. Grab the handle stand on the black box on the ground and see what happens (can anyone confirm this is still there?)
- If you have a Disney Visa and go to Innoventions West at Epcot 1:30-4:30 you get a special character meet and greet and free 5X7 picture- you can go once per day
- It's all over the boards but being able to use fastpasses late is no longer allowed so if reading old threads please don't use that "secret"
- Do not miss out on Dole Whips! The floats are my favorite
- For pressed penny fans - http://www.presscoins.com has the locations of where to find what you're looking for

I'm sure there's a ton more if I think of them I'll be sure to add them! :cool1:

Thanks for all of these great suggestions! Would you be able to explain a few of these to me?

-Push in Epcot and Devine at AK (Are these shows?)
-Candy Lady Epcot- she can no longer give away any candy after she makes it, but still awesome to watch (Where is she located?)
-Wishes Dessert Party- so nice to enjoy a little dessert and not be shoved or squished during the fireworks (tables are assigned so no fighting over spots) (How does this work?)
- Kim Possible Mission (being replaced with Agent P- Phineas and Ferb) at Epcot (is this also a show?)

petting zoo at AK take the train to the conversation station and go through to the petting zoo.

Go to the campgrounds at Fort Wilderness, you can see the ponies and the horses. there is also a little petting zoo.

Rent bikes at WL and ride the trails.( they have ones that have child seats and tandem bikes)

Go to WL and take a boat ride to the MK and back just relaxing and great way to see some wildlife.

Go MK and ride the monorail for a round trip. Great way to see other resorts and ride through EPCOT.

Back Yard BBQ. Not sure if this is secret but it is a lot of fun.

night vision googles at AKL. Go to the lodge to see animals at night lots of fun.

Wake up tinkerbell in the MK

They aren't shows, they are "extras" you will find around the parks. You have to keep a sharp eye out for magic like this.
-Candy Lady Epcot- she can no longer give away any candy after she makes it, but still awesome to watch (Where is she located?) Her name is Miyuki and she is in Japan. You should see her listed in the times guide at the park. Here is a link that talks about her: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2009/10/21/miyuki-epcots-japanese-candy-artist/
-Wishes Dessert Party- so nice to enjoy a little dessert and not be shoved or squished during the fireworks (tables are assigned so no fighting over spots) (How does this work?) You make reservations online or by calling like other dining reservations but you can only make the resizes 60-30 days before. You may have to call back.
- Kim Possible Mission (being replaced with Agent P- Phineas and Ferb) at Epcot (is this also a show?) It is more of a magical scavenger hunt. Here you can find more info: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/attractions/kim-possible/
- Coca-Cola Cool Zone in EPCOT and watching people try Beverly for the first time (there's a thread of pictures on here somewhere) (what is this??) It is a spot inside where you can taste different Coke products fore free. Some are good and others are Beverly
-Do not miss out on Dole Whips! The floats are my favorite (where can I get these?)
Only Two Places -- Aloha Isle in Adventureland @ MK or Captain Cooks @ the Poly

We spent some time looking and listening for the tap dancing and singing lessons from the 2nd floor on Main St. We also took forever, but finally found the phone where you can here the call from the "party line". Also, paying attention to the names in the windows on Main St. Another thing that is low key, but neat to see is late just before and after closing time when some of the cleaning CM's draw characters on the pavement using their brooms and water. I'm just fascinated they are that talented. We enjoy looking for hidden mickeys and the CM's generally seem to have fun with it, too.

Only Two Places -- Aloha Isle in Adventureland @ MK or Captain Cooks @ the Poly

Captain Cook's at Poly has Dole Whips, but you can only get the pineapple juice float at Aloha Isle in Adventureland (MK). Dole Whip alone is good, but the float is GREAT!

This is a great thread! We are looking to do some things we haven't done yet, and I am especially looking forward to the drawing class at HS.

Calling for Tink at the store in MK is a very cute thing to do. My younger DD and DS did this two years ago. The cashier at the store performed a simple but very cute ceremony, sprinkling some pixie dust. Then I think the kids rang a bell and we could hear Tink flying around and saw her appear briefly.

We also loved grabbing some fish n chips and going to listen to British Invasion in the courtyard. We are going to check out the new band this year.

One of our all time favorite souvenirs is the silhouette of our kids. It came out great and it was amazing to watch the artist create it.

Thanks for all of these great suggestions! Would you be able to explain a few of these to me?

-Push in MK and Divine at AK: Push is a talking garbage he makes rounds through Tomorrowland inside the Magic Kingdom. He is remotely controlled by a CM.
DiVine is a woman dressed as a vine from a tree. Please google it and look at the YouTube videos. It is so cool I can't describe it accurately. She is at AK on the path from Africa to Asia
There are also three talking water fountains can be found in Future World at Epcot. 1. if you are facing the Dancing Fountain with Spaceship Earth behind you next to Mouse Gear. 2.next to the play fountain on the walkway between Future World and World Showcase. 3.behind Innovations West near the restroom. Also there is another talking garbage can in the Electric Umbrella restaurant.

-Candy Lady Epcot- Her name is Miyuki. She is located outside the Japanese pavilion in Epcot. Her show times are listed in the daily Epcot times guide.

-Wishes Dessert Party- so nice to enjoy a little dessert and not be shoved or squished during the fireworks (tables are assigned so no fighting over spots) You make an ADR like any other restaurant. However, these times only open up about 60 days ahead of time. There is a watch thread on the restaurant board for dates opening. The sooner you book your table after they open the closer to the front your table will be. However, once the fireworks start most everyone walks up to the railing to see the show anyway. Tinkerbell flies right over your head! Very neat experience.

- Kim Possible Mission (being replaced with Agent P- Phineas and Ferb) at Epcot: It is an interactive quest at Epcot using a "high-tech Kimmunicator". You can sign up at recruitment centers in Innoventions: The Road to Tomorrow, on the Odyssey Bridge, and near the International Gateway as well as locations throughout World Showcase.

- Coca-Cola Cool Zone in EPCOT and watching people try Beverly for the first time (there's a thread of pictures on here somewhere) Cool Zone I believe is right outside innoventions. It will be on the map. It is a place where you try sodas from all over the world for free! There are free small sample cups. Beverly I believe is the Italian soda which has a very tart taste to it (I'm not sure if tart is the best adjective there?)

-Do not miss out on Dole Whips! The floats are my favorite: Found at: Aloha Isle: Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom (this is where I usually go), Captain Cook’s Snack Company: Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Resort, and Sunshine Seasons: Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom

Sorry I should have elaborated more and I'm noticing I didn't proofread my original post. Hope this helps and that you have a Magical Trip!

My kids also love renting the sprite boats from Wilderness Lodge. The behind the seeds tour in EPCOT land was also fun got to sample the vegetables they grow there, walk around behind the scenes and learn how they grow the Mickey shaped pumpkins

Is this still being done somewhere? I thought they closed that store and this was no longer taking place?

You can get a henna tattoo in the Morocco pavilion. Also, watching the pick a pearl "show" in the Japanese department store is entertaining if the right person is doing it. The woman who did it the last time I was there had the whole crowd involved and excited.

LOVE watching this while I browse the store!

"San like the sun! Ni like a knee! Ichi like itchy!!!

I am not sure. My kids did it two trips ago. With everything going on in Fantasyland it's definitely possible that it's gone. If so.... That stinks! Lol. I was bummed when the original Tinks Treasures changed and you could no longer peek in the keyhole of the dresser for a glimpse of Tink.

Torch Lighting ceremony at the Polynesian

Piano Music in the Grand Floridian lobby

Movie Night at the Beach Club beach you can also bring your own smores stuff or buy a kit there.

Watch Miyuki the "Candy Lady" at the Japan pavilion at EP. Very entertaining to watch her make candy animals; the schedule is posted on a pillar by the entrance to the Japan store.

Disney's youth educational series

http://www.disneyyouth.com/youth-education-series/

In this program you can sign up your kids to enjoy educational tours.

This is a must do in my family now. This year we are doing the Physics tour: Properties in Motion.

Besides a great tour you can also save a ton on your park tickets. I paid 182 for 5 day park hoppers and that price included one educational tour. You can select as many tours as you want for an additional 28 per person.

Thanks so much for this information. Our children are too young at this point but it sounds awesome and something worth looking into for the future. I'm sad that I'm too old for all of these. They all sound fascinating to me.

To add another little known thing to do, go visit Geetar Dan at Camp Minnie-Mickey in AK. He wrote a whole song about my son being a truck driver with his teddy bear beside him. It was priceless to capture it on video since my son was less than 2 at the time.

Watching the Street Performers at DHS. My kids love to stop and watch them and they usually end up in one performance or another.

In the MK, there was fountain right outside the castle that had Cinderella sitting there and a crown painted on the background, and if you bent down (like bowing) it would look like the crown is being placed on her head. I haven't been since they started the changes in Fantasyland so I am not sure if still there.

There also used to be a Story Time with Bell in the MK but I am not sure if still there or not.

My kids also love all of the play fountains in the parks and at DTD. We usually go when it is warm and I think they like the fact that I let them get wet in their clothes - they dry fast.

My kids also love disney's public transportation (boat, bus, monorail). They have also collected "transportation" cards from the drivers. They are just cards that list the type of transportation and look like a little drivers license.

We also do pressed pennies and enjoy the musical performances at Epcot. My kids love Off-kilter by Canada and the British band in the Uk area and even Voices of Liberty in the American Pavillion.

They like eating a snack/treat from each country at Epcot as well as complete the Mask activity that have for kids. You recieve a mask and each country you visit the kids add something to their masks and they cast members write something on the mask in their native language. (It gives kids something to do while mommy shops)

My kids also enjoy playing on the playgrounds and exploring the resort grounds wherever we stay.

At AK Lodge they have a story teller that tells story by the big fire pit outside and you can view animals using the night vision googles. It is fun to do if you are eating dinner or staying there.

At Wildreness lodge they like to watch the Geyeser erupt. We usually eat lunch or dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe so they can see it erupt, play with liconln logs while waiting for table, and they like taking the boat to get there.

I guess we just love the "little" things that makes Disney what it is.

Hotel Hopping/viewing !!!!!

Whether it be for food, photography, shop, or just plain fun its one of my favorite things to do. On the monorail its easy to hop but from your main hotel you can use the bus.
