My DD is home from school sick today. She is watching Little House, it is the episode title "He was only 12". James gets shot during a robbery. I told her, don't worry, he doesn't die.

She just came up to me and said "I thought you said James doesn't die?"

HE DIED?????

You would think I would remember something like that. I remember all the tragic epidodes. Alberts girlfriend Sylvia being raped and dying, Charles best friend's(can't recall his name) wife and son being killed in a fire......why do I not recall little James being killed?

Gee, I guess I need to by stock in Kleenex, and order a few season of Little House.

James doesn't die. Have you watched Part 2?

OK, thanks! I didn't think so. Charles is out with Albert and Mr Edwards, his posse, looking for the robbers. I did see it when James went unconscious, and Charles freaked a little, but he is in a coma. So when DD said he died, I told her he was in a coma, and she said no, he died, and that was why Charles is out get them. I thought I missed something!

So I looked it up, and it aired May, 1982. Jason Bateman ended his Little House days in 1982, so I figured DD was right.

OK, now I know I am not losing my mind. I would of remembered him dying. I don't remember this episode, but if he had died, I am sure I would of! LOL

He comes close to death, but doesn't actually die! There is a second part to the episode.

So does Albert die? I was watching an episode yesterday where Albert is given a death sentence because of some rare blood thing. I didn't get to watch the whole thing. Does he die?

toward the end of the series they tried to bring in too m any current issues rather than stuff from the era of the show. Remember Alberts addiction to opium? gun control? rape? I'm not saying those things didn't happen- but it seems a bit out of the context of the show.
:confused3

It was Garvey, and it wasnt his son killed in the fire it was his wife Alice and she died trying to say Mary's Baby. She sent Mary out of the house and went back for the baby. So it was Marys baby that also died.

No, he doesn't die -- this is the year when Little House on the prairie "Jumps the Shark". The last year's episodes never aired too much on television.

Yes, and it's IMHO the saddest episode of Little House that ever aired...and that is saying something b/c Little House was always a tear jerker.

Well the show contradicts itself as to whether or not Albert dies. In the episode where he's addicted to heroin Laura voices over in the end something to the effect of him coming back to Walnut Grove many years later as Dr. Albert Ingalls, but then in the episode you mentioned he dies before ever becoming a doctor.

Just one of those Little House mysteries I guess, like all those "best friends" of Laura's who show up for one episode and are never heard from again...
