I was just flipping around and caught the end of the LHOTP episode where Almonzo fell in love with Laura.
I had the biggest crush on Almonzo when I was like 12 or 13! :rotfl2:
Anyone else?
Oh I always loved thos episodes! Didn't she put apples under her dress to make her look more womanly for Manly?

I didn't have a crush on anyone on LHOTP, but I watched it all of the time. I even had a Little House on the Prairie lunchbox when I was in the 3rd grade. :goodvibes

I saved my crush for John Boy on The Waltons.
Oh no not John Boy!! Eeeekkkk :rotfl:

I've seen Melissa Gilbert interviewed. She is very open that ML's divorce devastated her. At her age all she knew was that her hero had let her down. As she became an adult, she understood. But at the time it was definately the divorce that caused their rift.

I enjoyed LHOtP, but didn't like the focus on Pa. It definately set Pa up as the constant hero. I can see where little Melissa, playing Laura, got her confusion.

and at that exact point in time - the REAL Laura Elizabeth Ingalls Wilder literally rolled over in her grave.

:rotfl:

No seriously, when you grow up with a Mother such as mine, reading such a thing is rather akin to the thought of the Virgin Mary working as a barmaid in a topless joint.

For some reason, I think that she put the apples in her dress to look grown up for a boy who really liked Mary. (johnny johnson?)

I bought the DVD set (first season) for my kids and want to get more. There is nothing on TV worth watching anymore!! I wanted the avoid the whole rape episode though (what were they thinking with that one--Kids are watching!!!!!!) since it gave me nightmares. Any one know what season that is?
Yes, that is in season #7. I own the first 9 seasons, which is all they've come out with so far. Told you I was a big fan! ;)

Yeah, I've seen and read some interviews with her too. The divorce was devastating enough, but the circumstances surrounding it (ML's open affair with the young makeup artist he later married) were especially crushing to those who thought ML was a role model of a family man. Sad! :guilty:

I loved Little House, the books and the show (up until Little House: A New Beginning). When I was younger I really like Andy Garvey. I wanted Pa for a Pa not a boyfriend. I loved when Almanzo came to town and Laura called him Manly. Though I loved even more in the books when all the girls got the cards to hand out. I wanted some of those cards so bad.

I had a crush on Andy Garvey as well. He was a cutie! I loved Almanzo but I didn't have a crush on him. I just found him quite romantic. One of my favorite episodes was the one where Nellie was faking being paralyzed and Laura pushed her down the hill. Nothing better than when Nellie got her due!

I loved Albert, those beautiful eyes and curls! :faint:
Pa was so handsome but at my young age it was admiration and not lust! :teeth:
albert also had the cutest pout. his upper lip just hung over the lower lip enough to make me want to bite it! :rotfl2:

but it was mary's blind hubby that got me. and when he got his sight i was soooo mad! i used to pretend i had a blind husband... lmao.... i ended up IRL with a blind husband!

Wow, I somehow missed all this--I was very sheltered and my mom knew how much I loved Pa :lovestruc , she must not have wanted me to be disappointed. Now, I am!! I cried when died and I remember them saying that ML and MG made peace, but I still didn't research the details to the falling out. I can see how they did set poor MG up to revere ML, then, BOOOM, the axe falls! Very sad!! :sad2:

Johnny Johnson was first season, unless he makes a second appearance later. I don't think that is who it was for.

I LOVE LHOTP!! My sister and I often call each other (from 300 miles apart) to watch the show together and cry - lol. I did NOT think Manly was hot. Eek - the idea of calling someone "Manly" just negates the word, don't ya think? eek again! And those crazy blond locks - I just wanted to cut his hair.

Now Mr. Edwards, on the other hand... Seriously, he was/is my favorite character but not sexy - nope, not at all. :rotfl:

Oh you're right, Mr. Edwards was a hoot! Didn't you love when he'd ride away singing "Old Dan Tucker"? I also loved when he'd give Mary & Laura a gift and say "Shut your eyes now. And no peekin'! Can't STAND for no peekin'!" :rotfl:

Why on earth have I not seen this thread?!?!?! *see my tag*

I always thought Manly was good looking, but as I got older and more into the show, I thought he was a turd. In the 7th and 8th seasons. In the 9th he mellowed out a little.

Hee hee, me and my friends had a joke about how tight Pa and Manly's pants were and how the greased up their legs and butt to get them on. LOL!

I always had a things for the skinny nerd-types.

I loved Albert too, but when he was older, like after Laura got married. I also thought Willie was hot in season 9. :)
