We are getting ready for our first Disney cruise next week. My girls are 6 and 1. I would love to dress them up as little princesses (probably just the basic walmart costumes---but they look nice IMO) one evening for pictures and maybe dinner. Is that "done." Is it frowned upon? Are there times when it is more appropriate than other times? I know it may seem tacky and tourist like to some, but I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff....hehehe. Plus, I think my 6 year old will LOVE it!

Just learning and want to make the most out of our trip!

Thanks,

Lara and crew

land/sea package starts 8-12-04!

From what I have read, some of the little girls do dress up in princess costumes. I think even on formal night if they are the formal gown costumes. I have a 4 and 7 year old that I bought each of them one on clearance at the Disney store right after Halloween. They are very excited about wearing them! I'm sure your kids would love wearing them on the boat!

Lots of little girls wear their Princess costumes on Formal night and Semi-formal night. They are sooooo cute. I say go for it!!!

Many little girls wear their princess costumes...mostly on formal and semi formal nights....but other nights as well. Do not worry it is not frowned upon....it's Disney!!!

They will love dressing up and your photos will be precious!!!

My granddaughter (she was 3 1/2 on our cruise) wore her Sleeping Beauty costume to dinner at Triton's. She also wore it when she went to meet Sleeping Beauty before dinner that evening. Her costume was a beautiful, hand made blue satin outfit (made by her other grandmother). Sleeping Beauty spent a great deal of time with her, and even came to see us in Triton's when the photo session was over. She told DGD that she was so pleased to see the blue dress, and asked her if Merriweather changed it from blue to pink for her. My DGD said "Yes, she came to my room while I was getting dress and asked me which color I wanted". (She's got a great imagination!) The last night of the cruise she received a beautiful autographed picture of Sleeping Beauty, with a very nice note, and one of the pictures that the ship's photographer had taken of the two of them together. It was the high point of her cruise. If you click on the link in my sig for the Dec. 2003 pictures, and then click on the Dec. 2003 folder, those pictures (and pictures with some of the other princesses) start on the second page.

And the CMs make a great fuss over your "Belle" or "Cinderella"

there were numerous little girls in princess costumes when we went on our last cruise 2 years ago, and it seems to be getting even morepopular! They looked absolutely adorable on the formal and semi-formal nights, and very much was made over them by CM and characters. Have a great time!

My DD wore a princess dress all the time for dinner! She loves to dress up - It was never frowned upon - We were there to have fun and this was her way to live it up - I always buy her princess dresses too big (that way she can wear them for a couple of years) - I think on our last trip she had 4 princess dresses to choose from! She had a ball - And I can tell you, she wasn't the only one wearing a princess dress at night!
