My dd has curly hair and as it gets longer I am having a harder time from keeping the curls from frizzing. does anyone have anything that they use for their dd that works, but is not too heavy (I don't like to wash her hair everyday as it makes it dry). Thanks
Tara

Both my kids (boy and girl)) have pretty curly hair.

I've used all types of conditioning detangles which in turn prevented frizz.

Now that my daughter is older (8) I was thinking of trying adult stuff like Infusuim. I did get a sample once and it worked well for her.

My son has thicker curls, and frizz doensnt bother him (hey, he's a preteen what can I say?). Usually I get let it grow until its an thick mess, and get his cut.

Leave in conditioner. A cheap way, spray bottle with water and regualr conditioner. Pantene has nice leave in conditioner for curly hair as well.

My dd has curly hair and I use Redken Fresh Curls shampoo and conditioner on her. I also use Redken's Outshine to keep the frizzies down. Good luck!!

It's been a while, and I only have my DS who does not have this problem) but I have seen moms use a detangling spray, like maybe from Johnson's.... I would consider trying something like that. They seemed to work well, and the mom's recommended them.

I use the conditioner on DD as well as the Fresh Curls "spin control" leave in product. It's like a lotion and makes a huge difference. A little goes a long way!

I comb out her hair while it is wet, then put on the spin control and she is good until the next bath (usually every other day). I never comb or brush her hair when it is dry. This results in frizz city!!

The Fresh Curls line is a darker green bottle.

My DD has curly hair that is on the fine side and we have used the Suave for Kids Smoothing Shampoo (Blueberry Smoothie shampoo and Go Go Grape conditioner) with the detangling conditioner. It keeps her hair soft, but doesn't weigh it down. Plus, it smells good. I tried the detangling sprays and they don't work for her hair.

If you have a Sallys store near you, go in and ask for Luster Cream. It is FABULOUS! DD has super curly, kinky hair. We have battled the frizzies all of her life. After she fixes her hair of a morning, we put a dab of that on it and it looks great all day.

Don't use to much or it will look oily.

My 24 year old daughter has curly hair as do I, but she keeps hers long and frizzies were a tremendous problem, she has used EVERY product known to man, all to no avail, some helped for awhile, but she almost always had to wash her hair in the morning due to flattened curls, frizzies, bed head, etc.

Last year her life with her hair changed.......it wasn't product she needed, it was the RIGHT cut. A veritable stranger who saw her filling her shopping cart with hair products told her about Quidad, they specialize in cutting curly hair. There main salon is in NYC which my DD was ready to visit until she found *certified Quidad cutters* on their website and visited one locally.

http://www.quidad.com/ We live in Central Jersey.

She still have beautiful curl, but it is manageable and NOT frizzie and her hair does NOT poof out even when it is humid.

The downside is this is an expensive cut, perhaps too expensive for a young girl, but I wanted to put this out there for anyone else struggling with curly hair...wish I could post a before and after picture here, unbelievable difference AND it is wash and go hair now AND she doesn't HAVE to wash it every morning..........

We have a lot of trouble keeping our DD's hair from frizzing out. I'll usually put in Frizze-Ease Hair Serum and Infusium 23 leave in treatment right after she washes her hair and it drys really nice, (although we have to make sure we don't put in too much, otherwise it will look oily), but as soon as she sleeps on it, it's just a frizz fest. I'll usually put in more INfusium 23, but it still tends to frizz. She looks a lot like carrot top today with all the rain we're having (she has strawberry blonde hair)

Maggie, thanks for the site. We live right near Basking Ridge. I just e-mailed them asking how much they'll charge for a child's haircut, I'm hoping it's a little less than the $50 they charge for women.

I was going to suggest ouidad! I LOVE the cuts but, the closest one to me is between $75-100 per cut! I am glad it is only $50 where you are! I wish it was that price here! I agree with the above poster. It wasn't so much the product as the cut! Ouidad has alot of great products as well and seems like they are cheaper if you get it online. (they usually have soemthing on sale every month), but jsut watch to see if when you add shipping is more than it would be at your local salon.
p.s. the cuts do last awhile

My DD goes to the salon in Basking Ridge, Atelier, Ricky cut here hair and she says she will NEVER go anywhere else. DD used to get her hair cut at the same salon that I go to by the same stylist I use, she recently went with me when I went for MY haircut and the stylist was in awe, she could not believe she was looking at the same head of hair, she was so overwhelmed that she called Quidad and is trying to become a certified stylist.

The cut truly does last quite awhile, my DD thought that once her hair started growing out it would be horrible, but it is not, she gets between 3 and 4 cuts a year mostly because she needs highlights, and finds that EVEN her highlights are better from Attelier because her hair is so manageable.

YIKES! I just re-read the site and it's $100 for the Ouidad System Haircut, it's the standard haircut that's $50. Well, maybe the kid's haircut will be cheaper than the $100, one can only hope ;)

I'm assuming my DD would need the Quidad System haircut, not the standard; right?

Yup, sorry to say she would need the Quidad System haircut, I KNOW it is very expensive and if I had to pay for my daughter to get it cut I could not, but my DD is single and a teacher so she can afford the luxury......we often tease her about what will happen to her hair if she can no longer afford the *cut* and she says she will ask for it for birthdays, Christmas, etc. :)

Maybe I'll tell my daughter to ask people for Quidad gift certificates as X-mas gifts ;)

LOL! That is what happened to me ... since our son was born, ouidad is not in my sahm budget :( last year, i did get enough gift certificates to get one haircut and enough product to last me until recently!

LOL....Do you notice a remarkable difference in your hair with the Quidad cut?
My DD hair looks like different hair. When see pictures of her preQuidad we are amazed at ALL the hair and how poofy it looked.

It has been raining non-stop here in Jersey today and DD went out tonight and hair was manageable and NOT the least bit frizzy, I remember when she would have to have tied it up in weather like this.

I have VERY thick, curly hair. mine always frizzed when I was little. I recently found something to keep it from frizzing. It is called Luster Cream, and it is made by ion. You can get it at your local Sally's. I highly recomend it. You use it on dry hair, and it keeps the curls together, and from frizzing. It is the best thing I have ever put on my head. :)

:worried: Yes- it has been raining the last three days and mine has been UP! :) Otherwise, people would look like this lil guy ... when they saw me! LOL! I couldn't believe the difference. One of my relatives told me about the place on her way home form her 1st haircut there! I bought the hair dryer that I sit underneath, so I am trying to keep all the basic idea of ouidad up!

sparx- thanks for the info on the luster cream. I will have to check that out this week! :)
