A mole is having a field day in my yard. How the heck do I get rid of it?

I've googled and yahoo'd and am competely at a loss. There seems like a zillion different gimmics and solutions out there. It's in the front yard otherwise the dogs would have already chased it away.

Anyone successfully gotten rid of a mole?

almost thought you were talking about MY yard and my fuzzy animal who happens to be my dog....
Hope you find a cure........call the University Extension center ......maybe they have an idea

I had a mole problem for years. I have tried everything suggested to no avail. My neighbor even hired a professional and she had no luck! I am willing to listen to ANY suggestion short of Weapons of Mass Destruction!

not sure this would work quickly...but I've always heard the best way to get rid of moles and voles is to eliminate their food supply in your yard (i.e. bugs/grubs)

Getting rid of them "fast" usually requires chemicals, so you might want to check with your City or County for environmental regulations, etc. You might even find some more organic methods, but those definitely take a lot longer.

Talk to someone at a local nursery or lawn care place...and

Good luck!

The other think that got rid of them in our yard was our cat.

Just saw a garden show yesterday on HGTV and they said that mixing Castor Oil with water and dumping down the hole gets rid of them. Haven't tried it myself, but planning to if I notice moles in my yard again this Spring.

Now, if I can just find an inexpensive trick for those rascally rabbits!!! I've used Shake Away which is really good, but costly and I've got lots of garden beds to cover.

Good luck!

 Guy at work says use gasoline & a match.. :stir:
Wouldn't recommend it to city folk though....Might upset the neighbors...

My parents have had a mole problem for years! They have tried everything and they can't get rid of them (yes, them!)! They've caught several, but they keep coming back.

My DH did this one year. Poured about a gallon of gas down the hole and lit the match. Of course I stood there with a garden hose. Nice flames! :thumbsup2 Definitely NOT recommended as the darn things just escaped out another way.

My mom used to put moth balls in the holes the moles made. Not sure if it worked, just remember her doing it.

Oh man, it doesn't sound good. :sad2: I heard the moth ball thing from a co-worker too, may try that.

DH is about mad enough to try the gasoline thing! lol

Sounds like it's going to come down to letting the dogs out front more - Benny (my rat terrier) caught the last one - THAT was comical!

He didn't want to hurt it but wanted me to see so it was like - look Mom! A new toy :) The mole kept going down, and he kept bringing it up all the while it was screeching and DH wasn't home so I was just freaking out and finally got it on a shovel but it kept riding up the shovel and falling off so I was kinda scooping and going all the way across the street. It was NOT my finest moment. :confused3 :lmao:

Well, you could call this man.

He has a lot of experience with gophers (and later groundhogs), so I'm sure he could handle a mole. :teeth:
