Literally one single point over my 50% borrowing limit.

Im on a waitlist to add an additional night to our June trip. We need 36 points and we have 35 left of our 50% borrowing limit. I know, assuming the wait list goes through, that the room is temporarily booked and then canceled shortly after. What should I do here? I do have points on another contract left, not 36 but enough to cover the one point needed. Should I let it go through and quickly call MS? Or just call them now and transfer a single point and for the waitlist before it goes through?

Well. I don't think anyone is "quickly calling MS" these days. I'd just transfer the point (or buy a OTU point).

I assume the points are in a different membership? Then you need to transfer.

If just a different contract, but same membership, I think they will just pull it from the second one.

If it were me, I’d call and do it first.

I'd just bite the bullet and transfer the 1 point now. You otherwise risk losing the room if the waitlist matches.

you can't buy the point until you have the room in my experience. I was waitlisted and needed 2 points and was told I couldn't purchase them unless I had a reservation to hold them so I booked a room that was the same amount of points i needed (which included 2 points purchased) and then put a waitlist on the room I wanted with the one single night room I had booked on purchased points. waitlist came through then I had them combine the reservations.

You can work around that by making a reservation that requires the purchase of one OTUP and then cancelling the reservation. The OTUP remains in your account and if the waitlist comes thru, it's already there for use.

It's a moot point since the OP will probably be transferring a point from a second membership that they have but I thought I'd post this work around for anyone else who is following this thread.

I just want to add that when you do this, be sure to pick a date far out so when you cancel there is no holding.
