Lists of overlooked attractions and little extra things to see and do??

Dh and I like the tin toy museum in Japan in Epcot--we had passed it by so many times before we finally went in! Just had never noticed it.

Where is this located at MK and is it on the times schedules?

This is located across from Cosmic Rays, to the right of the castle, if you are facing the castle. There is a little nook kind of area, there will be a sign outside of the area noting the times.

I'll be staying there for the first time in January, so I'm no authority, but it's my understanding that you can take Disney buses into the resort for touring the grounds. You can drive your personal car only if you have reservations at Boma or Jiko or if you're a resort guest. I know that there is a viewing area available to all guests at the AKL - I am not sure if that area is off limits to non-guests.

They will let anyone go to the AKL. I have just driven up to the guard station and mentioned that I just want to look around. I had my son with me, and we walked through the lobby and out back. They had a fire outback with rocking chairs around it, and when we walked around, a cm offered my son night google visions to see the animals out there in the dark. He was a young teen at the time, and thought that was very cool!

Just booked that for my DH and Dad (thanks to all the great feedback about it here on the disboard when I asked!). I booked the two hour session for $80 per person (they do have discounts available, AAA, DVC, AP, Disney Visa).

Now, a few more things that are not a direct response to one comment in particular. I believe there are campfires with Chip and Dale at Fort Wilderness. You can go over to the Wilderness Lodge and watch the geyser erupt. There used to be a petting zoo, (free) Fort Wilderness, and you used to be able to go up to the stables and talk to the people who care for the horses that are used to pull the trolley on Main Street, and the little white ponies that pull Cinderella's Coach. They have a native islander who blows a shell when they light the torches at the Poly. We also like just riding the boat from DTD to OKW, having a beverage on the porch there, and then riding back. My very favorite things, however, are to spend time on Main Street and Hollywood Blvd, just watching and interacting with the "streetmosphere" characters.

We are not into VMK, but go into the theater on Main Street, pick up the VMK quests, and do them, you will learn some little things you didn't know. Turn in your filled out quests (2 I think are the requirement), and you can register for a free VMK tour. That includes riding Jungle Cruise on your own boat, going in the back door of HM, and doing a quest there, and then fp the BTMRR. This is free, and again, you learn all kinds of things you may not have known.

Can you explain what this is? If VMK is the virtual MK online how do I turn in the filled out quests?? And what is the VMK tour? somthing online or at MK? The rest sounds great but not really sure how this works. Thanks

Keys to the Kingdom is a must!

If you start your walk around the World SHowcase in Canada, don't skip the silly El Rio Del Tiempo in Mexico. Never a line, and it is soo campy it is funny for adults.

Take a few minutes and enjoy the Rose and Crown and bring your yard to see the British Invasion

Another show that I absolutely loved that I rarely hear mentioned is the World Showcase Players in Epcot...I can't give you an exact location b/c they perform at a couple places, but check your Epcot Times Guide. The show is hilarious.

Another little gem is the horse-drawn carriage rides offered at POR in the evenings.

Yes! When DH and I first went to Epcot, we were surprised at the pockets of darkness here and there throughout the World Showcase. The lighting gives you a feeling of a real town rather than a "bright lights everywhere!" carnival atmosphere. We just love it--feels very intimate.

Nighttime is our favorite time at Epcot. In fact, knowing that Epcot will be darker, earlier, is the only thing that consoles me for losing the evening sunlit hours when we go off Daylight Savings Time in the fall.
