LISTEN TO "3" NOW!!! Britney Spears's new song, "3" to cause controversy???

I guess we just look at it differently then. If someone insults a person close to me, they insult me. Especially my husband or my kids. I would be very offended by it.

This isn't one of the things that bother me, but I do get offended by derogatory things being said about those who are a part of my belief system; so I can understand those that are saying this is offensive to them. Maybe not believing in the same things makes it hard to understand. Doesn't make anyone wrong, just means they feel differently about something that you do.

I spent 25 years as a practicing Catholic (but no longer), I have heard many derogatory things through the years, but not one really offended me personally. I figure those making the remarks had their own issues with my beliefs, but I wasn't going to let their issues turn into ones for me, I guess its just how I roll ;)
I'm not saying its wrong, I just don't understand letting something, that Britney Spears of all people says, have the power to offend you.

So the OP opens a thread saying how sad and pathetic it is that Britney has to resort to trashy, insulting lyrics... but all along it was just a ploy to promote the single.

Written by Max Martin, the writer of Baby One More Time and If U Seek Amy, writes another controversial track. What's it about this time? Not a threesome involving certain saints (though Peter Paul and Mary ARE in the lyrics still) as previously though, but a threesome and counting?

M.Martin/Shellback/T.Amber

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I'm caught in between
Countin'
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin' down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin'

Babe, pick a night
To come out and play
If it's alright
What do you say?

Merrier the more
Triple fun that way
Twister on the floor
What do you say?

Are - you in
Livin' in sin is the new thing (yeah)
Are - you in
I am countin'!

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I'm caught in between
Countin'
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin' down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin'

Three is a charm
Two is not the same
I don't see the harm
So are you game?

Lets' make a team
Make 'em say my name
Lovin' the extreme
Now are you game?

Are - you in
Livin' in sin is the new thing
Are - you in
I am countin'!

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I'm caught in between
Countin'
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin' down with 3P
Everybody loves ***

What we do is innocent
Just for fun and nothin' meant
If you don't like the company
Let's just do it you and me
You and me...
Or three....
Or four....
- On the floor!

I personally like these much more than the pervious ones. The others were just wrong. This may be classic trashy Britney, but at least it's not bringing Jesus into it. I know I'll love it when it comes out, but it's exactly my cup of tea, albeit too trashy for me. I'm sure it will make up for that with it's catchyness! I'm just happy the other lyrics were fake, those were just...:sad2:

It's not any worse than the disco stick song now :rotfl2:

Actually I was bringing the song to people's attention and expressed my concern with it as a fan (knowing that I'll love it no matter what), then it turned into something about Jesus should not be involved in such trashy lyrics, then about freedom a speech, then how Jay-Z's song had a hidden message, then to attacking beliefs, then back to freedom of speech. All sprinkled with a little Britney love and hate!

The whole thread was about making people aware of the song and what it's meaning, which the thread has done.

Welllllll...

I like that the song is about a threesome and it doesn't have the usual gender line-ups. More often than not, when threesome is mentioned, it is with a Peter, Mary and a Jezebel. :thumbsup2

The lyrics are what they are. I am not offended by lyrics at all, either I like then or don't. If they are of a subject matter I don't like or agree with I won't purchase the music. I would never protest a song or anything like that just because I didn't like the content. I am a big fan of free speech, even when I don't agree with it.

I know less than nothing about the music business, so maybe someone could enlighten me? Does she pick her own songs? I know that I have heard some singers talk about picking a song and of course some write their own songs. Does she just sing what they tell her or does she actually pick the song?

The reason I ask is I was just thinking how sad it is that this beautiful, talented young lady seems to think she has to portray herself as some kind of trashy slut that is only worthy if someone wants to have sex with her. It would be nice to hear her sing something about the power of women and the strength of overcoming obstacles. :sad2:

Everybody loves ***

What does everybody love?

The song goes "Everybody loves...ooh"

The "***" mean sex (or something more if you really think about it), but it's never said, just "implied".

I didn't blur it out and neither did the DIS, they came like that.

Right now, for the most part, Britney has no influence in what she records. She simply agrees to record them. She does not write the majority of her songs, especially not anything upbeat. If she does write anything it's a ballad about break ups or her kids. '3' was written by the man who wrote Baby One More Time and If U Seek Amy, both of which caused major controversy, so I guess it's no surprise that its so sexual.

Just heard it on the radio in the car today.

Catchy of course, but dirty. Must change the station when the kids are in the car.

She's a cheap, trashy woman, IMHO. I was really rooting for her to bounce back but her song choices make it difficult. I wish she's get some class and grow up.

:sad1: Its sad that she doesn't seem to have the strength to say "no, I want to record my own songs". Her songs may not be the number 1's that some of these are but at least she would have self respect.

I wonder what her real opinion is of the songs that she is recording.

Geez I must be getting old! I had a really hard time even understanding every word! Her voice is so digitalized it's crazy. That being said, I like most of her new stuff. Do I want my DD listening? No, not really.

However, try explaining Clapton's "Cocaine" to an 11 and then tell them they can't listen to this!!:rotfl:

Every generation ( God I sound like my Mom!) has music that is risque and pushing the limits, as long as they take it with a grain of salt, it's not worth getting riled up over.

No, your not getting old, it's the way her voice was manipulated to sound like a robot. The two biggest complaints are that it's too repetive and you can't understand her, so you just one in the crowd :thumbsup2

My complained is the "every body love ohhh (counting)" because it sounds like porn! :shocked

I couldn't understand most of it either!

I was thinking it wasn't as bad because I wasn't sure of what she was saying.

Just to let you all know, I've played it 67 times so far today according to my iTunes, LOL!
