My DS (11) and I will be staying at WDW Hilton 4/13 - 4/17.

I've spent the week reading through the board and was up til 2a.m. last night reading... I'm so excited...I feel like a kid!

A strange set of circumstances happened and we found out my H would not be able to take spring break and then we found out that the two of us (son and I) could do Disney together. Its last minute, we're off site and we'll only have 1 day each in the parks... but still, how cool is that!!!

I managed to get the ADR's I wanted yesterday. I had read last week the O'hana was out of PS when someone else called on the board so I was thrilled that we got a late dinner around 9:30. Does anyone know if we'll be able to see the fireworks at that time. O'hana has always been kind of tradition even if we are only there for a day or two. We also got 3 that we haven't tried before. Yak and Yeti, Tepan Edo (DS loves to watch teppan chefs!), and Sci-Fi drive-in (I know the food is average at best but I thought it would be fun for DS and its the one restaurant we've never tried there) Everyone I asked for... can you believe that!

I'm a little hesitant about how we'll work the fact that there are a few rides he's going to want to do that I WON'T do but we'll figure it out. I did agree to do Everest with him (is that crazy??? somebody stop me now if it is)

Also the fact that crowd levels have been so high scares me, but we have a touring plan so that will help immensely! Even this thread scares me about the crowds!

DD and her bff got together their old trading pins so that he will have pins to trade in the parks, which will be great as this is the first year ever that we won't be tracking down autographs (I hope!)

Sorry this is so long.. I wanted to introduce myself and all this came out! It's nice to have a place to share...I've kind of had it all bottled up!

We are also going in April and are really excited..however, we had to change a few dates and are now calling Disney Dining everyday trying to get new reservations
So if it is okay, I wanted to plug a thread that Dis members can go to trade/give up their ADRs if they are thinking of cancelling before they call to actually cancel it. In this way, it gives other Dis members a chance to get a reservation first.

We are looking for reservations for Chef Mickey on April 6 and have not had any luck yet.. so Please check out this thread if you are thinking of canceling a ADR in April:

We are coming Apr 7-14,staying at AS Movies.It is our first trip since 1994 and my wife and I will experience the Magic for the first time with no kids.We did great on ADR's Le Cellier,Ohanas,Wave,Cape May,Whispering Canyon,Shuttles,Spoodles.We are so ready!!!!!!!Come on April 7

LOL I so do the same thing...actually lose sleep over not being able to tear myself away from reading all the info and trip reports, looking at everyone's photos, etc. that I just can't wind down and go to sleep!!

No it's definitely not crazy doing Everest! It's an awesome ride!!! You'll love it!! It's even better when you keep your eyes open!! I'd worry if he wants to go on the Rock n Roller Coaster -- I haven't done that yet, but GMax, a fellow Diser, did it and survived, so I've decided I am definitely doing it this time!! Yay!!!

It does seem like April will be crowded - looks like we'll be needing to grab fast passes whenever possible - most of the times we've gone on EE we've needed fast passes.

What a great idea. We don't have anything to change or cancel. The only thing we have booked is HDDR.

Has anyone checked the April park hours recently?

I think Disney updated the park hours for the week before and after Easter, and the week after that (that is when I am going).

During April 20 - 24
The magic kingdom is now open until 10 p.m. not 9.
Hollywood studios is now open until 10, not 7 for april 20 & april 23 respectively.
Animal kingdom is now open until 7, not 6 or 5 from April 20 - 22.
No changes to Epcot hours or parade times.

If you look at park hours from April 12 - 18.
Magic Kingdom morning EMH all week, and is open until 12 am or sometimes 1 am.

I think Disney is expecting the parks to busier than originally expected. What are your thoughts?
