Sunday 17th December - Universal Studios
The nicest thing about this being an 18 night trip is the feeling you still have plenty of holiday remaining in front of you. Usually by the time youre settled and the sleep patterns are normal youve done a week and are starting to dread going home. Here we are settled with a few days under our belt and still more than a fortnight left.
I was up early which was nice as I had a bit of time to do my DIS notes then after a quick breakfast we were off to Universal. I win todays guess the car park we will be in (Jaws) We got the 5 park flex tickets as had plans to go to Sea World and Busch.
Shrek was a quick walk on straight into the pre show (still one of my favourites) as was Jimmy Neutron then after a quick look in the Universal store we went over to Twister for a good soaking. DS & I had a stroll around and dried off in the sun while DD & DH rode The Mummy (DS doesnt like the scarab beetle bit so has only ever done it once) The Christmas decorations are disappointingly exactly the same as last year.
We all enjoy The Blues Brothers show then stop off at the San Francisco bakery where DD & I share a Key Lime Pie, DH has a danish & DS a gingerbread man. We pass on Earthquake as nobody can be bothered and head for Jaws. Our boat driver was fabulous some of the worst cheesy over acting ever but so funny we laughed till we cried.
MIB was also a walk on we cant believe how quiet the park is especially as it is the weekend. DH gets the red button so is declared the winner. DS sulks so badly we do it again and let him win. Then he sulks because he knows what we did!
We exit the second time just in time for Fear Factor (not my cup of tea Im not big on spiders & scorpions) DS absolutely loved it particularly when four audience volunteers were given smoothies I cant remember the exact ingredients but know fish & sour milk were involved. One poor guy was heaving before he even started, he left with his head in a bucket. The winners received a Fear Factor Mug! (sorry but a thousand pounds wouldnt have got me to take so much as a sip)
As we were planning to go to the cinema in the evening we had a larger than normal lunch at Finnegans Irish Bar (opposite Blues Bros Show) we love the free soda bread an apple butter (have bought a jar home with us) we all shared a potato and onion haystack (yummy with loads of salt & vinegar) then DH & the kids had fish & chips and I had a chicken sandwich ($70) Absolutely stuffed we lay off the rides for a while and decide to hop over to IOA stopping off at Hard Rock & the MBA shops on the way.
Again the park is scarily quiet. DH & the kids do Hulk twice (Im still too full) then we all do Spiderman a couple of times. We skip the water rides (having done them on summer trips we know you get far too wet for winter even if it is a warm day) DH cant resist spending all our quarters on the water shooters soaking the riders on Ripsaw Falls (its a boy thing I think. I think its cruel but it keeps him happy for ages)
A quick skip through Jurassic Park and onto Duelling Dragons where we do Fire & Ice. We try out the new Trolley ride in Seusss Landing & I take lots of pics. Its only when I got off I see signs saying no photos allowed
After a quick trip on Cat in The Hat we decide to call it a day and after a quick stroll around Citywalk head off to Downtown Disney where we get cinema tickets for Deck The Halls. While we wait for our showtime we have a stroll around the shops and buy up a few CDs in Virgin.
I wont bore you with details of the film. Suffice to say I suffered enough for all of us. We went back to the hotel where DS watched some Sunday night WWE wrestling on TV and we had pizza from the hotel food court.
