Monday 25th December - Christmas Day Epcot

We are up bright and early to open our presents. We had a mini Christmas at home before we left where the kids had their main gifts DS had a bike and DD money for a holiday she is going on from college this year so it’s just stocking fillers here of a variety of bits and pieces, soft toys, photo frames, giant gob stoppers, cups, a variety of spongebob stuff, Marvel Bobble head figures, lego, a spudtrooper & a couple of WWE t-shirts for DS, clothes, shoes, handbags, CD’s, DVD’s & perfume for DD and a couple of selection boxes bought from home (well it wouldn’t be Christmas without a Twix for breakfast) DH & I phone our respective families to wish them a Merry Christmas and we head off for breakfast

First mistake of the day is allowing DD to stay upstairs to phone her boyfriend on my mobile while we go down to breakfast. She comes down after ages saying she wasn’t on long and has been ‘doing her hair’ when I check the phone the last call duration is 19 minutes!

We arrive at Epcot at just before 9am and find it relatively quiet. We ride Soarin an amazing 3 times before I declare I am too dizzy to do it again. We head out and ride Nemo again and then go off to get FP and do standby queue for TT. We start a leisurely stroll round World Showcase starting at Mexico for a change and are in the American pavilion having lunch when a really bad storm starts. DH is sure it will stop so after lunch we shelter on the veranda at the side of the restaurant for a while but it soon becomes clear this storm isn’t going anywhere and the rain is absolutely torrential

We put our Mickey macs on and head out trying to head from country to country between the worst of the rain. We talk about leaving and going somewhere else and had it been any other time undoubtedly would have done but it’s Christmas Day, we are unsure what will be open, what else will we do and we also have an ADR at le Cellier for 7pm.

(rain rain go away ...)

We get back to Future World where we spend the rest of the afternoon in Innovations, Universe of Energy, Spaceship Earth & The Land anywhere to keep out of the rain really.

Eventually cold and damp we head out to Canada where as we still have short time to spare we watch the ‘Oh Canada’ film (how old!) and into Le Cellier for dinner.

I have to say if the day was a bit of a disaster then dinner more than made up for it we started with Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup (mmmmm) followed by steaks for DD & I, pork for DH and the most delicious deserts DS had make your own ice cream with assorted dishes of toppings to make his own sundae, DH had creme brulee selection & DD & I had the campfire smores (oh my god!)

(probably the best pudding in the world.....)

More than a little full it was back to the hotel to dry off and warm up.

You never did say but did your Ds try anything in Germany or had he learnt his lesson? So funny.

Happy Christmas

:thumbsup2

glad you all enjoyed your dinner after the rain
this is a most for out next holiday

We once got caught in Epcot in rain like that, everything is so spaced out you end up soaked no matter what!

To be honest with the rain and all we didn't spend much time in Germany but I also think he has learned his lesson. There again that's the trouble with kids ..... you never quite know what they're planning to do next!

Hope you had a great christmas, Ashame about the weather though :sad2:, And that pudding looks deliousious :goodvibes

We spent Christmas day 05' in Epcot and it was raining then too, not as heavy though.

Glad you enjoyed your meal at Le Cellier.

Apart from the rain sounds an excellent Xmas day :)

Would hate to see the size of your mobile phone bill :scared1:

A very happy Christmas day. You have also made me happy because I am hoping to try the smores dessert on our next trip, but wasn't sure it was only for kids, very happy too see it isn't. Looks delicious.

What a nice Christmas dinner. We had that pudding the last time we went to Le Celier. Must try to go again.

Thanks for the great Christmas Day trip report
