Well, this week was another busy week. I read some of the posts about the Hurricane and I have a hard time watching the news because it just breaks my heart! Ironically, weather is one of the science units we teach in 5th grade and it really takes some mental thinking of how to talk to the kids about this. We are raising money as a class and so far we have a couple hundred dollars! I figure it's the least the kids and I can do. :)

My kids are great for the most part. I don't want to post to much because you never know who is reading, but I will say I have a few kids (like any classroom) that have big struggles both academically, socially, and emotionally. I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed because their needs are all so very different and I'm not quite sure where to start...

Did I mention that our amazing PTO moms provided us with a Hawaiian Luau? We had the whole bit...pulled pork, hawaiian salad, etc. The real kicker was the (virgin, of course) pina coladas that they made for each of us. Yeah...they are amazing parents!

Hi Lisa,

Hope that you having lunch watching your nibbling while cooking dinner. That is a challenge for me too.

Very cool about your PTO parents throwing you a Luau! How nice to be recognized and appreciated, no? I totally believe that teachers get far too little of that! :sunny:

Have a happy & healthy weekend!

Today is a very exciting day! My first friend is getting married! :bride: :groom: Woot woot! :sunny: Right now, I'm feeling so nervous...not because of the marriage, but thinking about what she is doing, what her dress will look like, etc. I'm sorry, but I need some banana dancing for this awesome day!

Here is your thought for the week:

Sounds like you are doing GREAT!!

Glad your class, for the most part, is good. That always helps!

Hope you have fun at the concert!

Well it is calming down a bit for me, although with the first year students testing their boundaries I have about 20 judicial meetings scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week!!! They will learn very quickly though!

Have a great time at your friend's wedding today! Teach em all the banana dance! hehe!

Happy Labor Day! I had a great time at the wedding last night! My friend looked beautiful (who doesn't look stunning on their wedding day?) and I couldn't believe the excitement she had all night long! She just kept jumping up and down every three seconds! :) It was a magical night and just a wonderful memory! :goodvibes

I'm off in a little bit for our Labor Day/end of summer concert at Ravinia - our local outdoor music festival. I'm planning on bringing my own dinner so that there will be no extra snacking for me!

Thanks to all for the nice compliments on my picture...when I get a chance I'll upload a picture of my dress for the wedding last night! It's so cute that I'd love to show it off! :teeth:

Have a wonderful day everyone!

What aren't they up to??? LOL As usual for this time of the year it is mostly alcohol issues so far. YAY! NOT! hehe

Glad you had a good time at the wedding!!

Lisa - YOU LOOK AWESOME!!!!!! Good job on your accomplishments and glad you had a great time at your friends wedding.

(clearing throat) - I noticed in your signature that you have a countdown for NIU's first home game!!!!!! I'm going to be there working at our Habitat booth (we have a concessions booth but I have no clue where it is). I've heard it's in the northwest corner of the stadium. If you get a chance, come see me - I'd love to meet you!!!!! I'll be the short woman, short hair, round (fat) body, with a shirt that is WAY too big for her now (and a lighter shade of yellow because I had to get such a large size). If I'm not there, we might have two, ask where the other one is. They didn't do so hot on Saturday at Michigan but that's okay - first game jitters I hope. We'll see what the Star says tomorrow!!!!!

Keep up the good work!

Keep on

Hi, all!

I'm caught between two worlds...should I keep working or take a nap? School is going as well as can be for the back to school time, but I've got so much work for my Masters. In the end, I'll be very happy when it's all done, but right now I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed.

I didn't get to the gym, but sure did get a good workout in this weekend with cleaning and all. I was so flustered this morning that I forgot to step on the scale. Oops!

Here's your thought for the week: (but personally I really don't like it! LOL!)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :)

My dad is doing that, too! He is teaching 7th grade and working at night on his Masters. It's a lot of work!! Good luck to you!

i can totally relate to the overwhelmed feeling--school is going crazy for me this semester too, not masters, but still crazy!!

hope you have a great week
