Lisa's Journal (Life on the "Beach" - Part 2 all the way to goal!)

May 27, 2004 (Thursday) Day 179 on the Beach

I was feeling so bad about the clothes I couldn't fit into at LB yesterday that I came home and tried on some of my old stuff. I put on a pair of my size 26 capris and stood in front of the mirror. I can pull them up over my chest and they fall down at my knees. I also tried on a couple of other things to give myself a visual of where I am today. One of my friends gave me a beautiful cream colored top that said size 16/18 and it fits perfectly. I've been saying to myself that I'm a size 16/18 but I didn't think there were actually clothes in that size. I guess there are. I like how this top hugs me. Most 18/20's are so big in the hips, arms and stomach area and this one hugs in all the right places. I put it on with my size 16 slacks and feel like I see some progress.

I am also trying to step up my FIRM work outs. When I feel like whimping out or skipping some reps, I keep telling myself I wanna wear a size 14, I wanna wear a size 14. It really helps!

Today's menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat flakes and 2 small sausage patties
S: 8 whole small almonds
L: leftover beef stroganoff over 1/2 cup of long grain converted rice with an orange
S: Dannon light and fit peach 4 oz. yogurt
D: breakfast stuff for dinner tonight (3 strips of bacon, 2 scrambled eggs and 2 slices of whole wheat toast with sugar free fruit spread) and later in the evening 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Exercise and Water Gauge:
FIRM cadio sculpt blaster led by Lisa Kay. I have really been focusing on my water today. I would give it a 7.0. Excellent!

That's a wrap for Thursday!

Doe - thanks for stopping by. I hope all is well with you. I have to work tomorrow (Saturday) so I'll try to stop by and check on your progress at work. I am anticipating it being slow enough for me to catch on all my WISH-sisters' journals. I know what you mean about those evil manufacturers. They need to get their act together with these sizes! I hope you have a great long weekend!

Laurie - I appreciate your stopping by to give me some encouragement and inspiration. I'm short too (5'0 3/4" - like you said those inches make a big difference when you're short). I hope to be able to wear a size 12 one day. I think fitting into a size 8 would make me literally pass out in the dressing room. WTG for you!!! Keep up the fantastic work!

Lisa,
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are such an encouragement to me! :hug: Here I am, DISing because I don't want to exercise today and I read your post about FIRMing and wearing a size 14. For some reason, your comment drew me back to my tag where it says, I think I can... I think I can... I think I can. You see, I have been discouraged lately because I am not making as much progress as I thought I would. But your determination has inspired me to want to keep going! Look at how wonderful you are doing;

* A 60 lb. clippie!:Pinkbounc
*Almost 200 cheat free days!:Pinkbounc
*Wonderful menus!:Pinkbounc
*You are a FIRMie princess: !:bounce:
*You are wearing smaller clothes!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

So, I will definitely keep that in mind when I go to workout. While doing bicep curls, I will say: I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!

Keep up the good work Lisa! You will see a size 14! I know you can, I know you can, I know you can!:teeth: ;)

Have a wonderful day!
Tracy:wave2:

Lisa,

I feel your frustration with the clothes. I went clothes shopping last week. At the RL store EVERYTHING ran small and I was in a 12 or some 14's. I then went over to the Calvin Klein store and I was a solid 10! His sizes run more true. I know it can be stressful but try not to pay attention to the sizes. You are losing and doing great!:D

May 28, 2004 (Friday) Day 180 on the Beach

I only have time to post a quick menu and exercise report. Here goes:

Menu:
B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat cereal and 3 slices of bacon
S: 8 whole almonds
L: tuna salad with 8 or 9 whole wheat crackers and an orange
S: Dannon light and fit strawberry yogurt (4 oz.)
D: crustless pizza with low fat mozzarella, turkey pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and peppers with a 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Execise and Water Gauge:
I did FIRM Super Body Sculpt (upper and lower) this morning and feel great! Water level was a solid 5.0. Pretty good.

Tracy - I'm glad my ramblings helped to motivate you to get FIRMing! I also want to thank you for recapping my progress. Sometimes we can get so caught up in where we want to go, we don't look at how far we have come. Seeing my accomplishments listed like that really helps to put things in perspective for me. Enjoy the nice (but a bit chilly) weather we're having!

wilderness01 - thanks for confirming that buying clothes can be a trying and frustrating experience. I hope all things are well with you!

May 29, 2004 (Saturday) Day 181 on the Beach

I'm doing last minute running around for my trip and can't believe we leave next Sunday. I'm excited. This trip is without my husband and son and whenever I take a trip without them (not often mind you) I have mixed feelings. I am pretty sure this will be the last one I take without my guys. But I know me and sis will have a great time! I went to pick up our Disney tix at the Disney store so we are just about all set.

Here's my menu for today:
B: 2 slices of whole wheat bread, 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of lf cheese and 3 slices of bacon (made like a sandwich) with strawberry simply fruit spread (it was yummy)
S: cherries
L: Adult Happy Meal from McD's (grilled bacon ranch salad) with a diet soda
S: cherries
D: fried perch (in canola oil and rolled in parmesean cheese) and homemade coleslaw with 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Exercise and Water Gauge:
I did FIRM super cardio sculpt this morning. I felt so wonderful after that work out (and the feeling has lasted all day) that I'm doing this work out again tomororw. It was that fun and motivating! Water level was a 3.5. Not too bad for a weekend.

Weigh in: I'm down another 1.5 pounds. Steady weight loss is all I can ask for. When I snuck on the scale yesterday I was the same weight as last week and was afraid I wouldn't show a loss at all so I'm happy. I'm not only down 61.5 pounds but I've lost 10 inces in the last month and my shoe size has gone from a size 9 to a 7-1/2!

That's a wrap for Saturday!

Congrats on your loss:Pinkbounc Especially your shoe size loss!!!!:bounce: That is wonderful. I am also taking 2 trips this summer without my entire family and I am starting to feel guilty about it. I am taking my son on one and my daughter on the other. The baby is staying home each time with daddy. I very rarely do this so it really is a treat!:D Maybe it is a mom thing that I feel guilty. My husband goes away for short weekends a few times a year with his buddies and I don't know if he feels guilty about it but he comes back decompressed and lighter. It is good for him to be with his childhood friends. Have a great trip. :D

May 30, 2004 (Sunday) Day 182 on the Beach

I wore the cutest outfit to worship today. I really felt thin and I haven't felt that way for a few weeks. I just felt very pulled together and feel like my hard work is paying off. That is a nice feeling.

I've got pretty much all the details worked out for my Disney trip and even though the feelings of guilt in leaving my son at home are strong, I know my sister and I will have a good time.

Here's today's menu:
B: 2 slices of whole wheat toast with simply fruit spread, 3-1/2 slices of bacon and 2-1/2 scrambled eggs with a slice of low fat cheese (made into a sandwich - yummy)
S: no morning snack
L: Ruby Tuesday's: 1/2 bufallo chicken wing and a cajun grilled chicken salad with a diet soda
S: cherries
D: shrimp alfredo over whole wheat linguine with 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Exercise and Water Gauge: I did FIRM super cardio sculpt again for my work out. I'm telling you ladies that is one great work out. I feel so energized and so good for the entire day! My son and I went for a walk and thanks to my new hand dandy McD's pedometer, I was able to record our 5,800 steps which is about 2-1/2 miles. Two work outs in one day for me! Woohoo!!!! Water level was a 4.0. Pretty good for a weekend.

That's a wrap for Sunday!

wilderness - thanks so much for helping me to feel better. I'm just glad our November trip is a "family" trip. That should be fun. Thanks for celebrating my loss with me!

May 31, 2004 (Monday) Day 183 on the Beach

Today marks my sixth month anniversary on South Beach and I want to thank you all for being such wonderful examples of good and healthy eating and amazing exercising. You each inspire me so much! Here is a run down of what I have accomplished in the past six months:

*Weight: I've lost a little over 60 pounds*
*Shoe size: I've gone from a size 9 to a 7-1/2*
*Inches: I've lost 50+ inches off my body
*Clothing size: I've gone from a size 26 pants a size 16*
*Exercise: I've gone from doing nothing to working out 6-7 days per week with high intensity cardio and weights*

I'm not sure what the future holds but I feel like with the support I get at home and on-line that I will be able to reach my weight goal.

Menu:
B: skipped breakfast and slept in late
S: no morning snack
L: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat cereal, 3 small sausage patties and 2-1/2 scambled eggs with a slice of low fat cheese
S: cherries
D: bbq boneless pork chop and homemade coleslaw and 1/2 cup of n/s/a/ ice cream for dessert

Exercise and Water Gauge:
I did my FIRM super cardio sculpt work out. I just love this one. It's intense and works all the muscles in your body. You feel so powerful afterwards. Okay, I know I sound like a walking FIRM infocommercial so I'll stop now! Water level was about a 4.5. Pretty good for a holiday.

That's a wrap for Monday!

Lisa here's one bounce for each month :jumping3: :Pinkbounc :jumping3: :Pinkbounc :jumping3: :Pinkbounc you've been working at this healthy living thing! You are an inspiration and your success helps to motivate me! Thanks for sharing your journey with us here in your journal!

 and :sunny:

:cheer2: Go Lisa! Go Lisa! Go Lisa!:cheer2:

I've said it before and I'll say it again - you are an inspiration girlfriend! And actually I wanted to let you know that you have inspired me to try and go 30 days without cheating. I'm hoping that I make it through but I look at all your success and I want a piece of it!

Thanks for being my inspiration!

~Amanda

June 1, 2004 (Tuesday) Day 184 on the Beach

I don't have much time to post but wanted to make sure to get my menu and exercise recorded. I'm down to the last few days before my Disney trip and I've been pretty busy on the planning boards with last minute details that I haven't had time to post yet today.

Menu:
B: 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of lf cheese, 2 small sausage patties and 1/2 bowl of whole wheat flakes
S: Dannon light and fit peach yogurt (4 oz.)
L: tuna salad with 8 or 9 whole wheat crackers and an orange
S: 8 whole small almonds
D: beef stroganoff over long grain converted rice and 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Exercise and Water Level:
I did FIRM super body sculpt (upper and lower) this morning and feel just great! Water level is a steady 5.0. Pretty good!

That's a wrap for Monday!

Doe - thanks for celebrating my first six months of healthy eating and exercising with me. I know six months isn't a long long time but I hope the habits I have built up will help me to have a successful and cheat free trip to Disney. Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Amanda - Hi FIRM-sis! I hope things are going well with you. Thanks to you too for stopping by to check on me. I know you can be cheat free for a month. You can do it! We are all here to support you in your efforts to be successful!

June 2, 2004 (Wednesday) Day 185 on the Beach

I think I'll share what happened when I went to the doctor yesterday and I was discussing this plan with her. This is the first time I have seen my regular doctor since before I started SBD. She was so impressed with my weight loss that she was telling her staff about me. It was cute.

Anyway, when I told her my goal weight (140 pounds for a 5'1" frame) she told me that is a good place to "start". I told her that was my final goal weight. She said for my height I could be as small as 110 pounds. We both laughed at that. She said something more reasonable would be around 130. I told her firmly 140. We finally compromised and she said that when I get to 140, to "see how I feel" and we could discuss it again. I think that's fair. I told her how aggressively I work out and how much muscle I feel I'm building up. I also told her I'm in a size 16 and by 140 I might be in a 10 and would be happy with that but I do admit I've got my eye on an 8. Bottom line is once I get to 140, I'll probably take my weight down five or so more pounds.

Menu for the day:
B: 1/2 bowl of whole wheat cereal, 2 small sausage patties and 2 scrambled eggs with a slice of lf cheese
S: 8 whole almonds and 2 oz. of Dannon light and fit strawberry yogurt
L: tuna salad with 8 or 9 whole wheat crackers and an orange
D: pizza toppings of 4 slices (cheese, double mushroom, sausage and pepperoni) with 1/2 cup of n/s/a ice cream for dessert

Exercise and Water Gauge:
This morning I did FIRM cardio sculpt blaster with Lisa Kay. It was a great work out as always but I'm feeling a bit under the weather and it was somewhat of a struggle to motivate myself to work out but I'm glad I did. Water was a 5.0. Pretty good.

That's a wrap for Wednesday!

Hi Lisa,

I just wanted to pop in and say hi. As far as what your doctor said, I think you should wait and see. I know that ia already the plan. With all the muscle you have with the FIRM tapes, you may be in that size 8 at 140. See how you feel after that 140 is on the scale. Most of those charts are WAY off reality.

Anyways, have a fabulous trip and I'll be waiting for the trip report.
Beth

Lisa, your trip is almost here! I bet you're so excited!! I hope you have an absolutely fabulous time!

Setting a goal weight is a very personal thing. I mean, how can you know what you'll feel like and look like at a lower weight?? There will be time enough to decide on the final scale number down the road. I think 140 sounds great and you'll be much healthier at 140 than you were at your starting weight. That's the point, right - to be healthier?? You're definitely succeeding, Lisa!!

I hope you're feeling all better soon! :sunny:

I agree on the wait and see advice. I also think the charts are way off......You are doing such a great job! Have a wonderful trip if I don't get a chance to post again to you before you leave.:D

Lisa,
How exciting!! Your WDW trip is just two days away!!!:Pinkbounc I just want to WISH you a wonderful and safe trip! Have a great time princess: Lisa!

Tracy:wave2:

P.S. Please remember to tell ::MickeyMo and ::MinnieMo that we said hi!!!!!

Hi Lisa! I know that with only 19 hours to go, you may not get back over here to post. But just in case you do, I wanted to wish you a safe journey and hope that you have a wonderful, memorable trip. I look foward to a trip report when you get back (hint, hint)! I know I haven't been around much, but I've been thinking of all of you. Take care and have a blast!

Lisa:

I stole something from your first post:

My ultimate goal is to be at a healthy weight (somewhere between 125-150 pounds). I haven't been in that weight range in over 20 years so I'll have to wait until I get close to those numbers to figure out what weight I'll be comfortable at.

You are on such an amazing journey and are having so much success. Don't lose sight of the reasons you started all of this - to be at a healthy weight. Only you and the way you feel will determine this...not your doctor, not some chart, not the perception of others.

Again, have a super trip with your little sis to the World and please say hello to my favorite mouse for me!

-Laurie

:sunny:

I know you're off having a wonderful time at WDW, but I just wanted to comment on what your Dr. said. I think your goal of 140 is just fine and, as much as you respect your doctor, she just doesn't sound familiar with weight-loss patients. Your body is going through an incredible amount of stress and "normal" body weights just may not be possible. Nutrisystem couselors told me once I should weigh 115 (I'm 5'3") and I just about killed myself trying to get there (I was about 150 at the time). It was NEVER gonna happen. After years of experimenting, I now know what a comfortable size/weight is for me and you will find the same thing for yourself. Be strong in believing what is best for you.

I just wanted to stop by and say "hi" to all my WISH buddies and say thanks for wishing me and my sis a great trip. We had an absolutely amazing time!!! I'm working on a trip report right now and so glad I took detailed notes which I'm grateful for because I get to relive my trip as I write my trip report.

In case anyone was wondering, I was able to stay OP the entire time and I worked out 3 of the 5 days of our vacation so I'm happy about that. We left last Sunday (June 6th) and I lost 2 pounds for that week. Tomorrow is weigh in day and I'll report any loss then.

Thanks so much to each of you for being so supportive of me. Again, we had a great trip but as Dorothy said, "There's no place like home" and I'm so glad to be back and getting back into my regular routine.

I'll try to post a link (don't know how to do that) to my trip report when I get the first couple of days posted.

Hugs, love and kisses to you all!
