Lion King Storyboard Sketches At Auction 8/22

This isn't a for sale ad, it's a heads up for collectors. I have no stake in this one way or another it's just my local auction house.

August 22 Gallery 63 will be auctioning off a set of conceptual storyboard sketches for The Lion King Gallery 63 isn't a fly by night operation it is going to be the featured house in a Discovery Channel tv series starting in the fall. I don't know if they take Internet bids but they definitely take phone bids. If you go to this link and click on the picture under the motorcycle you will see the sketches.

I was down at the auction house today and got to see 4 of them. I was kind of dissappointed in them. It looks as if somebody actually took storyboards and cut them up into pieces. The ones I saw were approximately 5 by 8 inches each. It would have been a lot better if whoever did that had left the storyboards intact. Maybe they thought the individual panels would be worth more than the whole.

They went for $900, with buyer's premium and tax a bit over $1000. That's a lot more than I expected them to go for but I'm sure whoever sold them was happy with the result.
