Lion King - DVD/BlueRay - any good prices out there?

Okay looks like I'm going to have to fight with TRU. I just got this email.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for shopping at Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us!

We wanted to inform you that we have not yet received inventory on your LION KING DVD AMARAY pre-order which was expected in-store on October 4th, 2011. We will send you a follow-up email once this item is available and ready for pickup.

They better be accepting the Disney $5 off coupon after it expires then. I guess I need to call on Tuesday and see what they say!

got that email, too. Hmmm.

Is anyone besides Walmart giving away anything "extra" with the LK BR? I don't need 3-D either...sure hope the coupon will work. Maybe need to go to Subway for dinner tonight..

TRU has LK for $27.99 for the 4 disc and $19.99 for the DVD/Bluray Combo. Ad says coupon will work on both bringing it down to $14.99 and $22.99.

So if you want just the DVD/Bluray combo if you preorder Cars 2 for $5 you get $10 off Lion King bringing it to $4.99 (plus the $5 preorder) minus the $5 LK deposit some of us put down for Dumbo. Equals $4.99 plus tax for LK and that includes $5 towards Cars 2. Great deal! Now let's see if it works out that way! (TRU better not fight with this pregnant lady!)

Thanks for the recap! This is what I plan to do, too. I'm glad you wrote it down!

Targets 4 disc pack comes with the movie soundtrack. Looks like Best Buy has a lunch box. Walmart is going to have a calendar with just the BR&DVD pack.

I haven't seen anything better than $29 for the 4 disc, and $24 for the BR.

I'm avoiding TRU.... I hate the store here. Maybe if I was in Texas I'd go there (the manger there was so nice with the Tink/B&TB/TS3 release)

Oh thanks! I hadn't seen those yet...will still probably do TRUs since they have been good to me in the past (esp now that the new manager understands coupons, preorders, etc) Sorry yours does not.

TRU has the 4 disc for $27.99 with a free poster; $19.99 for the BR. If they let you stack the Subway and DMR coupons, and you pre-order another flick it might be worth the inconvenience of dealing with a stinky TRU for a really good deal... :goodvibes

I'm debating on it, but I really don't want Cars 2. Wondering if I could roll it over to Pooh's new movie.

I guess wherever I can stack the two coupons will have to do. Plus there's the double reward points with the BB credit card.

Oh I wonder if they have a preorder deal for Pooh yet. When does it come out?

If not yet, I wonder if they will do a preorder for Pooh that we can use on Cars 2!

You won't be able to stack 2 manufacturer's coupons. (I'm assuming the Subway one is Manf.), so you wiil have to chose one coupon or the other.

Planning on hitting BB tomorrow for the four disk. I have teens that enjoy the digital download to iPads and I have $20 in BB Rewards in addition to my $5 coupon.

Just got home from Walmart.

19.97 for the BR & DVD
24.97 for the BR & DVD gift set (calendar)
29.97 for the 3D BR & BR & DVD & digital copy

I was a bit annoyed the gift set wasn't free, but I don't really need it for $5 more.

Has anyone been able to confirm this?? I'm planning on picking up my copy today at Giant Eagle as I've got a bit of grocery shopping to do anyways.

Wow!! So they are now charging for the "free gift". I agree, I wouldn't pay extra for it.

Since everyone generally had the same prices or price matches, I used to go with the one that gave the cutest, extra free gift, but I would never pay extra for that.

Ok, I'm waiting until 10am when our TRUs opens to call them to see if they got the Lion King BRs in yet...only got email that said they were delayed...

Just called mine (they open at 9:30am). They said they got their entire stock in. So hopefully yours did too!

I can't go until noonish (gotta take the dog to the vet!) so I'll update on what I paid when I get back.

Oh, thanks for the info! Maybe I'll just plan to go anyway...can always shop at Target next door if they don't have it.

Just came back from TRU, I also grabbed the pre order card for Cars 2. When you preorder it with the purchase of another Disney movie, you get 10.00 off. I have no idea how this rang up but, I paid around 24.00 today for The Lion King Blu/Ray 3d with a 3d Poster and that includes 5.00 down on Cars. The manager told me that when I pickup Cars, 15.00 would be taken off because of the 10.00 promo and my 5.00 deposit. I was very confused:confused3
Oh, I also grabbed a Mario 3.00 candy and got a Mario scarf for free. When you purchase ANY Mario item , you get the scarf for free. Even the candy!

I just got done eating my Subway kids meal for lunch! Hope to use the coupon after work tonight. Does TRU take coupons or should I go to Walmart?

Maggie

A rule of thumb with coupons - if the Subway coupon says "Manufacturer's Coupon" on the top banner of the coupon, it's the same as the ones printed from the internet, meaning you will be able to use only one.

Except the Subway coupon is for either copy BR only or BR and 3D. So for those not wanting the 3D version, subway is better than printed.

The Disney Movie Rewards coupon works on the DVD/Bluray 2 disc as well even though the coupon says 4 disc. TRU had it in their ad.

The $10 is supposed to come off Lion King when you buy it today. It needs to be manually entered though because TRU's computer is weird.

So I went to TRU. After explaining it all to the cashier, he then sent me to the manager who told me that their computer system applies the manufactor's coupon first which means the Cars 2 Preorder won't take off. I said, "oh then you can just manually take it off like they've always done in the past." He didn't argue with me, but he read the Cars 2 preorder card closely. I was like, "Yeah it doesn't say it has to be regularly priced nor does it say it can't be combined with anything else."

He didn't argue with me at all. I think he just wanted to make sure he was ringing everything up right. I got the free 3D poster as well. Its way more than I was expecting!

So I ended up paying at TRU
$19.99 2 disc DVD/Bluray on sale
-$5 Lion King Deposit (paid for with Dumbo)
-$5 Manufactor's coupon
-$10 Cars 2 Preorder deal
+$5 Cars 2 Preorder
$ $.76 in tax
for a total of
$5.76 plus the free 3D poster ($19.99 retail value)

Then I can apply the $5 to Cars 2 at the end of the month. I paid $12.70ish for the Dumbo 2 disc a few weeks ago. Plus Cars 2 will probably cost me $10 plus tax ($19.99 sale price - $5 preorder - $5 manufactor's coupon).

Less than $10 for each dvd/bluray combo pack (Dumbo, Lion King, Cars 2) plus the free LK 3D poster. Pretty good deal!
