I have read that you must have your tickets linked to your room only reservation in order to make Fast Pass reservations. Is this correct? I have tickets but was leery of linking them until we are actually much closer to our trip (which is in November) incase anything unforeseeable came up and we had to cancel. If we link the tickets and do not go, will that void them as they are 5 day park hopper tickets that do not expire until we begin using them. Thanks for all the input.

You do need to link your tickets in your MDE account in order to make FPs. It used to be that tickets did not expire until 14 days after you used them to enter a park, but I think that changed during the last price increase. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how it works now. They may be good until December 2018?

You must have TICKETS in order to make FP reservations.
If you have a WDW resort room booked, and you link the tickets to your MDE account (not to the resort room, per se,) then you can book FP+ 60 days before your check-in date, up to the
number of days that you have valid tickets.

1. That part really didn't change.
2. New tickets, if not used, currently do expire Dec. 31, 2018.
(But, even after that, the price you paid for your tickets will still be available
for helping to purchase NEW tickets.)

But if they do expire, you can put the cost of what you paid toward the cost of a new, non-expired ticket.

Yes, I worded it badly. I meant that the tickets expire now even if not used, not that they didn't expire after 14 days.

As others have noted, you need to link your tickets to your MDE account (not the room only reservation) in order to make FP+ reservations. If you cancel your room-only reservation, because you purchased your tickets separately, the tickets will remain in your MDE account. If you had booked a package reservation (room plus tickets and/or dining), the tickets would go away if you cancelled, but that is not your scenario.

Your room reservation is linked to MDE.
You link your tickets to MDE.
You don't link your tickets to your room reservation.
At 60 days out your FP+ window opens.
If you have tickets link to your MDE you can start making FP+ selections.
If you don't then you can't...
If you cancel your room only reservation after linking your tickets to MDE nothing will happen to them.
They will be there when you want them.
No reason to not link them now so you're all set and read for 7am eastern 60 days out.
