Linked, but never used, park tickets - Can I use them for FP for an earlier trip?

Please forgive me if this is a question I shouldn't ask, but something just occurred to me that I am trying to figure out.

We have 2 trips coming up in January, but I am the only one going on both. I have bought hopper passes for everyone going on either trip and have linked them all on MDE. Would it be possible to use the tickets for the teens on trip #2 to make FP+ reservations for the teens going on trip #1? It certainly appears to be an option on MDE. My only real concern is that the usage of the trip #2 passes on the earlier trip for FP+ purposes only could possibly activate the passes, starting the 14 day window for their use. The second trip is about 3 weeks after the first, so obviously I wouldn't want to do that!

Again, I'm sorry if this is an inappropriate question.

Thanks for any help you can give!

1. Yes. (You'd have to take the "#2" tickets for use for FP+ and NOT use them at the entrance gates.)

2. It won't activate the "#2" tickets (if you do NOT use the "#2" tickets at the entrance gates.)

All that said, I have no idea if once you have used the "#2 tickets" FP+ allotments
on the earlier trip, if that will negate those "#2 tickets" from being able to make
FP+ reservations for the second trip.

I don't know if the software is that sophisticated.
(It certainly COULD be.)

Thanks, Robo! I'm already using the hoppers for trip #2 to make FP+ reservations for that trip (#2). Is your concern that after 14 days after using those passes for trip #1, that those FP+ might disappear from the account?

But you're comfortable that they will still work to get the teens in the gate on trip #2, right?

Thanks again!

1. Yes.

2. If you don't scan those tickets at the park gate (and if they are not accientally used if they are connected to MagicBands) then they will remain valid.

Well, now I have another question for you, Robo. I had decided that I was willing to roll the dice on the 14 day FP+ issue, since we all seem comfortable that using the trip #2 passes for FP only on the first trip won't effect the ability to use the passes to get in the gate on trip #2. MDE is letting me book FP+ for both trips (over 14 days apart), so I'm thinking that probably won't be a problem.

But now I'm seeing another potential glitch - MDE won't let me make FP+ reservations for trip #2 after I have made FP+ reservations equaling the number of days on the trip #2 tickets. When I tried to make FP+ for the 6th day on the 5 day hoppers for trip #2, MDE tells me that the FP+ limit has been reached.

So I guess that's what you were warning about but I didn't really understand till now. I had been thinking that the 14 day issue was the only issue. But now I see that the fact that they are 5 day hoppers may limit them to 5 days worth of FPs.

Do you have any thoughts on whether MDE will "forget" the usage of the FPs for a day once they are used and therefore no longer appear in MDE, or whether it will "remember" that they have already been used for one day of the 5 after that day has passed?

I know all this is risky, but I'm willing to take a certain amount of risk given that trip #1 is at a very busy time (New Years weekend) and trip #2 is the opposite (late January - low crowd levels), but I want to try to understand what I'm possibly giving up if we use the trip #2 passes on trip #1.

Thanks so much!

1- Sure.

2- That's the way it works.

3- Yup.

4- That's what I meant in Post #3 above, "I don't know if the software is that sophisticated.

5- Please be sure and come back and find this thread and make a new post with your results.

1-4 - Gotcha

5 - Will do. Thanks!

Hey Robo - I think the software is thankfully not that sophisticated. We used the linked tickets for the second trip this past weekend for 3 days' worth of FP+. (They are for 5 day hoppers.) I now have made additional FP+ reservations for 4 days on those same tickets for the second trip for late this month. Since the website let me make them, I think we won't have any trouble using them.

Just wanted to report back with this info. If anything changes during the trip and they won't work, I'll let you know.

As always, thanks for your help on this board!
