Oh, that might be an idea for tonight! Thanks :thumbsup2

no problem! i really hate not knowing what to make and Lumar is on this "no more processed food" thing where I'm not allowed to make chicken nuggets, chicken patties, hot dogs, Digiorno pizza, or basically anything else that comes already made.

Slightly random, but one really simple thing I like making is "simple" macaroni and cheese. Just make pasta and then put whatever kind of shredded cheese you like in it, then stir until melted. Mozzarella melts easiest, but cheddar and colby are good, too :)

I also make my own beef and broccoli or chicken and broccoli. If you like those, I can tell you how to make them :)

I have made macaroni & cheese, stove top baked ziti, and I learned how to make several different types of Asian food (sweet & sour, teryaki, something similar to kung pao chicken, and pork fried rice). I actually despise broccoli so that cuts out a whole lot of recipes for me! I can't believe how many recipes out there call for broccoli! :crazy2: Thanks for the offer though! :cutie:

:lmao: My parents were lucky - my siblings and I LOVED broccoli and brussel sprouts when we were kids. No trouble getting us to eat them :)

My favorite website for recipes is allrecipes.com They're user submitted and then people can comment on them with suggestions or corrections, which I really like. I've found some excellent things on there.

Do you guys like sloppy joes? We love them here, but we don't use the Manwich junk. We just brown the meat, then put a quarter of a bottle of barbecue sauce per pound of meat into the pot, and a handful or so of brown sugar. They come out pretty good, and it's not pre-packaged (unless you count the barbecue sauce).

I am addicted to allrecipes.com and also kraftrecipes.com! I've tried cooks.com but I'm not too crazy about that one.

Good idea for the sloppy joes! I think I may borrow that one for tomorrow night! :thumbsup2

First of all....I just have a confession to make.

I just changed another ADR! I was looking over the menu for Nine Dragons and it's really changed A LOT since the last time we were there. There is really nothing on it that appeals to me anymore so we decided to use this opportunity to try something new....some place we've never been. So, on Tuesday 10/20 at 1pm, we'll be heading to lunch at:

Rose & Crown in the UK Pavilion!

:woohoo: I'm really excited because I love Fish & Chips and Lumar doesn't eat fish so I rarely get to eat it. Needless to say, this is what my guess is for what I'll be eating at this meal!

So, I was telling Lumar about how I went through all the menus and decided to play a game. I told him I picked out what I think I will order, and then compare it to what I actually get once we're there. He not only liked the idea and wants to play along, but he took it one step further and said we should try to guess what the each other would pick, as well (with no hints of course). So he is going to try and guess what I would order, and I'm going to try and guess what he would order. These are my guesses for him below. I decided to skip trying to guess appetizers...that just makes it too complicated! I also skipped the 4 buffet meals: Cape May, Biergarten, Tusker House and Ohana.

Rose & Crown:
Rose & Crown Pub Burger

San Angel Inn:
He had the Tacos de Ribeye last year and if they are still on the menu, he will most likely order them again. However, the menus I looked at didn't have it listed. So if they no longer have this, then my guess is the Puntas de Filete en Salsa Guajillo (basically, pieces of steak in a slightly spicy sauce)

Captain's Grille:
Mickey Waffle (with whip cream and strawberries if they have it)

50's Prime Time Cafe:
Char-grilled Tender Steak

Yak & Yeti:
Baby Back Ribs

Kona Cafe:
Steak & Eggs

The Plaza:
Cheese Steak Sandwich

Sci Fi:
Butcher Steak (are you sensing a theme, here?)

Grand Floridian Cafe:
This is a tough one but I think I'll go with Mickey Waffle. It's between this and the Ham & Cheese Omelet but I think he'll stick with the classic.

T-Rex:
Cretaceous Chicken Fried Steak (his mouth has been watering over this since 2009's trip)

Jiko:
Oak-grilled Filet Mignon with Mac & Cheese

The Wave:
Multigrain Waffles

So there you have it! We should make this really interesting and play for a prize.... If I get more of his right, then he has to buy me something in WDW, and if he gets more of mine right, then I'll have to buy him one.... Hmmm... :scratchin

Love the game! It will be fun to hear who won.

BTW, I made the chicken sandwich thing last night. I even bought the bread that you had mentioned. My family was amazed and asked where I came up with this. I had to laugh and tell them it was from you on the DIS boards. :rotfl: My dh shook his head and said I spend way too much time on her. :rotfl2: Thank you though, cause it was yummy and everyone ate it! It was easy to boot!!!

Glad you liked the sandwiches! I love them! They're quick, easy, and tasty!

I like the idea of making it a competition between you two :teeth:

Me too! When I told Lumar to look at the menus yesterday and make his guesses, he got really into it.... but this lead to....

Yet another ADR change!

Lumar told me YESTERDAY (not last year, or the year before that, or ever when I sat down 2 months ago to make ADRs that he doesn't actually like The Plaza! :scared1: I love it, and I had no idea that he didn't. So I'm a little bummed out, BUT it actually works in our favor to change it... I'll post the details in my next update!

Family Circle has a recipe for mac and cheese that is the BEST I have ever had! Just a random comment on older posts!
I like the game idea as well very cute!

Ok, so yesterday, I sent Lumar the links to the different menus for the TS places we would be eating at on our trip. He drops the bombshell on me that he actually doesn't really like The Plaza.

Of course, The Plaza is one of my favorites, but he said he is not really all that impressed with it. So, in an effort to make him happy, I told him that we could see what else is available.

When I looked at our schedule,I found that it actually makes sense to change our ADR to something at DTD. We'll be leaving MK around 2pm to head back to CSR for a nap and/or a swim. Then we'd be heading to DTD for Cirque du Soleil. So I figured why not just change our ADR to something there, that way we don't have to go BACK to MK, then to the TTC, then transfer to a DTD bus. We can just go right from CSR to DTD, eat dinner, then walk around a bit before the show starts at 9pm.

So I canceled our 5:05pm ADR at The Plaza, and changed it to a 5pm ADR at Planet Hollywood. It's been our tradition for the last several trips to eat there on our first night, and we swapped it for Paradiso 37 this year. So part of me is glad to get to go back. ETA: And my guess as to what I will get at Planet Hollywood is LA Lasagna, and I think Lumar will get the Sizzling Fajitas.

So, after Cirque, we'll then head back to MK for EMH. I don't know that we'll make it all the way to 2am, especially since we have a breakfast ADR for Cape May at 9:40 the next morning...but I'm looking forward to spending more time there, and hopefully the crowds will thin out!

So I'm sure you're now wondering what I meant by The Great Parsley Debacle, mentioned in the title to this update.

Parsley is our dog and obviously she can't come with us to WDW (as much as I wish she could).

We adopted Parsley in March and my original intent was to leave her with a friend of mine, who has a German Shepherd that Parsley adores, while we were in Florida. My friend found out she was pregnant and her baby is due on 10/25...obviously, we'll be in WDW from 10/19 - 10/29. So I asked her if it was still OK with taking Parsley. She said it would be fine because her husband would still be home. Well, last Friday she took Parsley for us for the day and I asked her if she was still taking her while we were in Florida. She looked like a deer in headlights and told me that she was planning to take HER dog to a friend's house because her own house will be packed with visiting family members. Then she said "Don't worry about it though, we'll figure it out." Well, obviously, if you didn't remember that you were supposed to be taking her in the first place, you aren't going to help me "figure out" anything.

My first thought was to have my brother come back to our apartment to stay with her for the 2 weeks we are gone. But that wouldn't work because he is just too far from his job to do that.

My next thought was my mom's house, but one her two dogs hates Parsley. So that wouldn't work.

My next thought was my dad's house. He and my step-mom also have 2 dogs, but they are much more laid back than my mom's. I'm taking Parsley to their house today to see how she gets along with their 2. Wish us luck!

If that doesn't work (which I'm REALLY praying hard that it does), my last resort is to ask my brother if he can take Parsley to his house, where he lives with his best friend (who has 4 dogs of his own). You all know that I love my brother dearly, but I have made it no secret how flaky is. I'm not saying that I think Parsley wouldn't be taken care of, but she is still a puppy and likes to chew things. I'm afraid that Mike and his friend would be so wrapped up in other things (video games) that they would leave her unattended and she would tear down their $450,000 house. Or at least, destroy a few baseboards.

So...we're leaving here in about 1/2 an hour to try her with my dad's dogs. He has a 5 year old Boxer, aptly named Chaos, and a 10 year old German Shepherd/Collie mix named Skippy. Chaos and Parsley are kindred spirits...I know this for a fact. The two of them will be fine together. For some reason, my dad thinks that Skippy will not tolerate Parsley but I think they'll be fine. I'll be taking my camera with me and hopefully I'll get some good shots of them all frolicking happily!

I'll let you all know how that goes tonight or tomorrow!

:lmao: I love that your dog is named Parsley! That's so cute! I hope she gets along well with your parents' dogs. It's hard not knowing what you're going to do with a pet when you go on vacation. If we do this family reunion thing, I think we'll have to board Delilah. Either that or my parents will rent a camper and drive down and stay at the Fort :confused3 She gets separation anxiety when we're away, even just for the day.

Good luck with your dog. That is never easy. We always struggle with what to do with our pets when we go on vacation. When we had a dog it was the worst because we couldn't leave him alone AT ALL. Our cats...well, they just need some food and water and if we are gone a long time, someone to change a cat box. We always had to board the dog (which was not cheap)

Hopefully the dogs will get along and the problem will be solved. :goodvibes

I'll have to look into that one! I'm not a fan of mac & cheese at all but Lumar loves it.

The rescue actually named her and since we have rabbits, I thought the name was cute and fit right in! I know it's mostly me that suffers the separation anxiety and not really her....as long as she has someone to play with, she is fine. I am the one that's a wreck about it! I really don't want to board her because it's expensive, and I've had a lot of people tell me that their dogs are just "different" after being boarded. I would rather change my reservation to an off-site, pet friendly hotel and drive to Florida instead of boarding her! But I think it's just because I'd be constantly worrying about her. At least with family I could harass them about how she's doing!

They got along GREAT! I'm so excited! The older dog was a little apprehensive at first...no growling or anything just a lot of teeth showing. But once we got Parsley and Chaos (the boxer) together and they started playing, Skippy was like "oh ok, this is cool!" So I'm really happy that she has somewhere to go while we're away! And since I pet-sit for my parents all the time when they go away, they owe me! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

OK so now that I have made three more changes to our itinerary...I'm sitting here at work contemplating another... I need some opinions.

For Wednesday October 20, the original itinerary was to head to Epcot, have lunch at Nine Dragons at 1pm, then dinner at San Angel Inn at 7:15pm
Lumar and I decided we didn't want to do Nine Dragons because the menu has changed so drastically since the last time we were there in 2007. We changed it to Rose & Crown.

The only reason we had scheduled Nine Dragons in the first place was because my brother requested it. Since he is not coming with us, we could technically revert to our ORIGINAL original plan and eat QS.

It is the F & W Festival afterall, PLUS there are two new QS locations opening in Mexico and Italy.

Of course, I am dying to try Rose & Crown, but Lumar's only demand is dinner at San Angel Inn.

So here is my dilemma...

Option A:
Do I just cancel Rose & Crown and we go with QS for lunch? After all, there is always next year....

Option B:
Do I change Biergarten on 10/26 to Rose & Crown instead?

Option C:
Do I leave everything as it is?

Of course, I still have to discuss this with Lumar after work today...but I wanted some other opinions. As much as I want to try Rose & Crown, I am leaning towards Option A.....

I would just snack around the world at F&W or try one of the new CS places. Honestly, I would cancel San Angel because the last time I was there I was really disappointed. But being that is Lumar's only request, I guess it's not possible!

I personally would stick with Rose and Crown, I ate there last November and really liked it! But eating at a QS or just snacking around the booths at the Food and Wine fest is a good option too! :woohoo:

Nope, not gonna happen! We actually have never had a bad meal here so it's not that I don't want to go....I would prefer to try something new, but it's OK. As long as they have those crab cakes again, I'll be alright! :thumbsup2

Tough choice! I would snack around the world as well, so many choices!

I talked to Lumar about it and he opted to just keep things as they are. He did bring up a good point: We have 3 full days at Epcot and this is only our first one. On our 2nd Epcot day, we only have dinner in Germany, and on our 3rd day, we have dinner at Ohana. So we will be able to snack around the world on those two days for lunch. :goodvibes So things will stay the same....for now!
