LINK TO MY TR POSTED 10/30 - I'm Ali & I'm Addicted to Disney Planning - Oct '10 PTR

I just posted my itinerary on my PTR and after looking at it, I'm NOT happy with it, so I know I'll be changing it in the next 97 days! Probably a few times, so I can relate!

50's sounds good, I've always wanted to try that place, but I never get around to it, I love Mama Melrose's too much!

Ummm...where do you work!!! :rotfl: Can you get me a job? We both live in CT...I'll commute to get paid that much! :)

It's so hard to not touch anything! I am happy with how things are at this point, but I know if I let myself, I would start changing things again.

I always wanted to try the food at 50s but I'm nervous about the "atmosphere." I hardly ever finish everything on my plate, so I'm worried about getting yelled at! I come from an Italian family and Lumar's family is from Puerto Rico so for the last 27 years I have been yelled at about not eating enough (although my scale begs to differ) everywhere I go! Hopefully they won't be too hard on me! I do love Mama Melrose's and my original itinerary included dinner there, but I made all those changes and when I reverted back to the original schedule yesterday, Mama's didn't have anything available for the time we wanted. So we'll try PTC and see how it goes!

And we are all getting laid off before the end of next year so...The drive wouldn't be worth it!

Hi there! I picked up on your PTR because you'll be going the week after we do. Wasn't sure if I was just going to lurk or not but after seeing your most recent change I HAVE to put my two cents in.

We LOVE 50's Prime Time. My parents started taking us there when we were pretty young and we've had good experiences every time. I took my husband (then fiance) last April and was SO worried he would hate people messing with him while he tried to eat. But I was wrong and he STILL talks about that meal and the experience we had.

It's a blast if you're willing to play along. Just jump right in and have a good time with it!

Ugh I'm so not happy with my itinerary, I don't know what I was thinking with some of my days! It's hard because the hours of DHS are stupid...they have Fantasmic on Sunday and then extra magic hours the next night, which I absolutely cannot miss, but I'd like to see Fantasmic again too! But I also might want to go to Epcot again on Sunday since it's the last night of Food and Wine...I don't know! I have 3 months to figure it out. My DH is already sick of hearing about it!

I would be nervous about the atmosphere at 50's too...maybe you won't get a CM who's really into their role! :rotfl: Maybe they won't bother you guys too much since you won't have any kids with you!

Thank you for de-lurking!! I appreciate your input on 50s! You made me feel much better! My problem is that I'm way too uptight, and I admit it! I guess I just need to relax. Maybe instead of ordering water with my meal I will get something a bit stronger to help me loosen up! :rotfl2:

Back in 2005, we wanted to go Magic Kingdom and DHS on our last day. A couple people in our party wanted to ride ToT and RNRC again but we knew we also wanted to see Wishes before we left. So the night before our last day, we added the Park Hopper option to our tickets for the one remaining day. That may be something for you to consider! That way, you can go to Epcot in the morning for F & W, and then jump over to DHS for EMH.

The Fantasmic schedule really messes with us too! I hate that they only show it a few times a week. We schedule two days at each park and I have to make sure we stay for Fantasmic the first night just to be sure we do it. But if it's raining or they cancel the show for some other reason then we have to make sure we stay for the 2nd DHS night...and I have to make the schedule around the Fantasmic nights in the first place! It's very frustrating and I feel your pain!

LOL! I totally support that method of loosening up. :) Honestly though, not only will you have a better time if you play along but you'll also make the CM's day if you do. I've done plenty of "interactive theatre" (which is what I consider PTC) and it always made my day when people played along with me.

I'll let you know when I get to my story about PTC in my PTR so that you can see what our last experience was like. We actually didn't have a very outgoing server but the manager had a BLAST with us. He thanked us before we left. :rotfl:

Oh I always do park hoppers, I know they're an extra expense, but I can't live without park hoppers! We hardly ever stay in one park for a whole day, we're those people who need breaks in the middle of the day, so we usually do one park in the morning, go back to the resort in the afternoon to swim or nap, and then do a different park at night. I know lots of people avoid magic hours, but I LOVE them!

I would really love to see Fantasmic again, but if I don't, it won't ruin my trip, that's why I left that night up in the air. I don't like the idea of waiting an hour to get good seats and I doubt the dinner package is available anymore. We'll see how much I like F&W I guess, if I feel like I need another night there I'll skip F! but I really doubt I will need 3 Epcot nights in a row...who knows!

And I know what you mean about being too uptight for 50's...I probably am too! I'm just afraid of it, I would have to have a drink first to be able to play along with them! Although I though the same thing about Whispering Canyon last year and I did ok there, I loved their ridiculous little games! You will probably be ok once you're there, it's Disney World after all!

I never do hoppers and this is the first year we have planned for afternoon breaks. But I do love evening EMH. I've been trying to get to AK at night for the last 3 trips and it just hasn't happened yet. Hopefully this year!

AHH but you never are fully done! If you are like me and keep reading about Disney unitl the trip (yup like DIS boards), you keep finding new ideas of things to try! :lmao:
My DH finally said he wanted to leave the ADR's and no more changes:rotfl:
Although I have a few tricks up my sleeve yet!

I'M HERE ALI!!!

Sorry about your brother not going. I know you were really looking forward to it. It would have been nice to talk to someone while Lumar was in the bathroom. It has to get lonely all those hours alone!!:lmao:

STOP! changing your itinerary. Leave it alone. Words of wisdom from someone who tweaks hers on an almost daily basis.

Can't we have just a hint on the costumes? Just a wittle one?

I'm hoping I can get on here a little more now. I don't know if I will get back to doing mine though. Just ain't feeling it KWIM?

Thankfully, Lumar is usually OK with whatever I want to do. If I want to make changes, he tells me it's fine. I can't blame him, I am my own worst enemy LOL OK well maybe I'll blame the DIS....And WDWinfo....and the Disney site itself...and the Disney Food Blog....:rotfl2:

Hey Nik! How did your classes go?? Did you finish out on the Dean's List?

I am bummed that Mike's not coming with us, but at the same time I have been so frustrated with him and his general lack of motivation to do ANYTHING that would be even SLIGHTLY beneficial, that I don't even know if I could tolerate him for 10 days in Florida. You can only listen to someone complain about how terrible their life is (because of dumb decisions THEY made!) for so long before you just want to smack them.

And no! No hints! :goodvibes

I would LOVE for you to go back to your PTR/TR but if you're not feeling it...you're not feeling it. I felt that way on at least 2 of my previous TRs. You fall out of the groove and it gets hard to get back into it.

At 10 or 11 weeks out, NOW is the time to change itineraries and to think and re-think and then think it over again. The alternative is to 'wing it'....:thumbsup2

As long as you're having fun with the planning, that's all that matters...you're going on holiday soon

I feel the same way about some of my family members! I get frustrated with them when they complain and want me to shut my mouth and not say anything. Which is why with some family I have decided to just make small talk. However, it is difficult when you eat dinner with them every Sunday!

69 days!!!! :woohoo:

That's like my sister and my step-mom. We get along fine as long as we avoid certain subjects. With my sister, we have to avoid talking about our parents because I always side with my dad and she always sides with my mom (who is a notorious exaggerator), and my step-mom is one those "Disney Worldagain?" type of people. She asked me today why we don't go "somewhere interesting...like the Grand Canyon." I asked what was so interesting about a mile-deep crater in the middle of the desert. She didn't reply.

I spent most of the day yesterday pricing out limousines and rental cars. The best deal I got on a rental was $130, the best deal I got on a limo was $100. By flying out of NY instead of CT, I saved $100. I'm not about to spend that on our ride home...that would defeat the purpose. But it would be a 2 hour drive to NY for my dad then another 2 hours home so I couldn't ask him. I ended up calling my mom to confirm why she supposedly couldn't get us. Originally, she told me that it would be too dark and she can't see at night. But it occurred to me that our flight lands at 8pm in NY on a Friday night. She is going to need to leave by 530 or 6 at the latest because there will be traffic. At that point it will not be dark yet. So I asked her why either my step-dad couldn't drive or why she couldn't drive there and I could drive back. She suddenly decided that one of those options would work, so the problem is solved! We now have free transport to and from the airport.

The only thing left to do is buy our Halloween costumes!

That's great news! We just arranged our transport to the airport yesterday as well! We told someone from church that if they took us, we would pay them the same amount it would cost us to park. They were excited about that, especially since they'll have to get up at 3:00 a.m. to drive us! :rotfl:

Good to hear you got your transport to the airport figured out. That is always a problem for us when we all fly together. We don't have anyone to take us to the airport, so we always park and fly....well, except last time. DD took us and picked us up since she was not going. This time dd is going but dh isn't so....another ride. :woohoo: It is such a hassle not having a ride! or having to ask for one!

The airport we are using charges $26.10 a DAY to park there! It would cost us almost $300 to park there for the duration of our trip so that wouldn't be a good deal in our case!

Well Jet Blue decided that they will start flying out of the CT airport starting this November. So it doesn't help us for this year, but we will be able to go back to our old routine for future trips. It's worth it to spend the extra $100 on airfare if it means I don't have to go crazy trying to find a ride to and from the airport! Lesson learned!
