Still can't decide where to stay when we go to FL in Sept. :confused3

We are mainly going because of Wizarding World, but will probably hit our favorite parks at WDW as well, AK and MK.

Just saw Liki Tiki mentioned on one of the threads and it looks really cool and might be perfect for our stay, I think! :)

Can anyone who stayed here offer their opinions? reviews? advice?

TIA, lori

You do realize it's way out on west 192? Not too terribly far from DAK, but will be a ride to US... not that it's a day long journey by any means, but it's through heavy traffic.

Can't help you with a review though, sorry. Have only ever driven by there. It's in a wooded area (at least road front) so bring your mosquito repellent. :)

We thought about it but were scared off by the timeshare talks and I also heard some of the older buildings were run down.

BUT... a friend just got back and loved it and had an amazing talk... and got $80 off her disney tickets from the timeshare presentation!

We stayed there about 2 years ago. We got to the first room which looked good and newer. However, there was a huge roach (I mean very large) in the bathroom that I had to kill. Of course we wanted a new room after that so we called the front desk. They had us re-pack everything and drive back to the lobby where they wouldn't even offer an apology. In fact, the desk person told us, "It's Florida, there's going to be roaches." That was a VERY unacceptable answer so they gave us a new room in a different building which was much older and run down. Then the smoke detectors kept beeping because of low batteries and they sent someone to replace them, but it was 10pm and it took them 45 more minutes to get to us. I see the place gets pretty good reviews, but given our experience I could never encourage someone to stay there.

Wow, sounds horrible. :scared1:

Looks like we won't be staying there after all.

We stayed ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO... IT WAS OK... BUT BEWARE THE PICTURES ARE VERY DECEIVING... THE POOL IS BIG BUT NOT TOO BIG... IT IS WAY DOWN 192... AND SO FAR THE 2 WE LIKE ARE ORANGE LAKE AND SHERATON VISTANA.. ORANGE LAKE IS BIG AND BUT SHERATON IS THE LARGER OF THE TWO... THAT IS WHAT DH AND I THINK.....

We stayed there at New Years and were disappointed. They told us we were in one of the newest buildings, but it was not impressive. And it was NOT clean. I'm not super picky, but this was beyond what I find tolerable. The mid-week cleaning was only half completed and we had to call for supplies and a sheet to replace the one they had removed.

If I couldn't get anything else I'd go back, but it certainly wouldn't be my first choice. Too many nice resorts in the Orlando area.

We stayed once at Westgate Lakes, which is VERY convenient to Universal. We left my teen there a few times and it was only 10 - 15 minutes to pick him up when he called, depending on traffic.

We stayed there about 3 years ago. I actually enjoyed it. The rooms were pretty decent. There were 3 of us, all adults, and the "suite" was comfortable for all of us. I liked the fact that each room has a balcony or a patio. The grounds are pretty decent too.
The location, however, can be a turn-off for those who can't deal with traffic. My boyfriend lost it a couple of times driving to US:)
Timeshare people never approached us.

Stayed there about 5 years ago...disgusting. I am happy to hear that some things never change judging from some of the posts on this thead. We were in a run down unit, holes on the walls, pee stains on the pull out bead...no screens on the balcony. It was beyond horrible. When we got to the timeshare tour they could not pressure us because when they said how do you like it I said, " you're wasting your time there is no way I would come back here even if it was free!"

ETA when I wrote a letter to the parent company they gave it to the manager and she blew me off so even complaining about the dirt did not make a difference to them.

Also, Vistana Village...there are great deals for Vistana and the Village on Skyauction right now and they are not an acution but a buy now price.

We stayed there in 2008 and we did like the resort. We did find cockroaches in the stair well and there was a very large spider in my bed one night but it was a nice resort. we had a two bed condo with a dining kitchen living room area all in one and a balcony over looking one of the pools. The connecting room was very noisy we could hear every word they said through the door - maybe they were a noisy family. the resort its self had a nice reception area with a fish tank and a basic shop. The water park was nothing to write home about and i'm sure small children would be bored quickly by it.

If your main reason for going is for US then its too far, its not far from the end of the 192, it was a fair journey to the parks but if you don't mind the journey time then I would recommend Bahamma Bay Resort that place was amazing, a home from home and I could easily live there.

My wife works with three different people that recently (within the last 6 months) went to Orlando and all stayed at the Palisades Resort (right near Liki Tiki). They all said it was great with very big rooms for low prices. The place was just recently built so there are no run-down rooms. I didn't ask about the pool area, though. I read that the walls are thin and when it is busy you can hear too much noise from rooms close by, but the three people that just went said the resort was pretty empty and they had no problems with noise. I also noticed people complaining about the distance to WDW, but we had a car when we stayed at Liki Tiki and it was no more than an additional 10 minute drive compared to closer hotels. Distance was never an issue for us. We drove past it to look at it last month and it looks great (from the outside).
