Likely that I can get more than 5 FP in a day?

I read that the FP system has changed so that I can get a FP at 9am, 10am and 11am and at 11:01 I can try for a 4th. I am wondering if anyone has heard rumor if it will stay like that for at least the next month.

Any guesses? I figure with summer crowds there can't be many FP available later in the day, but wondering if someone walking in the gate at noon will be grabbing the same inventory of FP as I would even though I might ahve already used my 3. Is it the same set?

Any ideas/guesses?

I'm thinking I am changing my FP to earlier in the day and hope for more, but am going early June.

From the reports I've been reading back, the odds look pretty good at pulling 4, 5, and even more fastpasses if you diligently are pursuing that avenue. This would work best at the Magic Kingdom where there ar elots of FP+ options and would be less effective if park hopping or working with less options in one of the other parks.

Going early June myself and hoping to get a few more than the three initial allotments, though it will neither make nor break my trip.

Thats interdasting I am going in early June as well :rolleyes1

I agree with the PP. From all the reports I am reading, it looks like people are easily pulling 5-6 FP's a day or even more, and not just for the minor attractions, especially in MK. I've also noted a huge drop off in the FP+ negative threads/comments, so I am taking that to mean that it is working pretty well for a lot of people or we would be hearing a lot more complaints about it. We will be there mid-June, so I guess we will find out first hand.

You most certainly can get a 4th and more. The moment the 3rd one is used (no need to wait till 11:01), you can go to any kiosk in the park and schedule your 4th. After your 4th is used, you can get a 5th, and so on.

I too have noticed that there aren't as many negative threads regarding FP+. We will be there next Friday and I am so glad that the extra FP+ were rolled out because our family easily used 5-6 (sometimes more) FP- in a day, I really wasn't liking the whole 3 FP+ a day and then you were done. I am so happy Disney listened to their guests and gave us this new option. Now if they would just make it to where we can add these extra FP+ on our smart phones and iPads rather than going to a kiosk each time, I would be even happier .

If the 3rd FP is for 11, wouldn't you need to actually ride and then try for 4th? So at 11:01, even though it's within the window of the 3rd FP, you can't actually obtain the 4th until you've ridden. At least that's how I understood it but I could be wrong.

You understood correctly. You can't get a 4th FP+ until your first 3 are used up, and after you get your 4th FP+ you can't get a 5th until after the 4th one is used up and so for and so on. That is why when this upgrade was first introduced, so many (I included) went onto the Disney site and tweaked our FP+ selections from having them later in the day to earlier in the day so that we could take advantage of the new system for when it got rolled out.

What some people are doing is editing their fastpass times as soon as they use the previous one to immediate use. So if you use your first FP+ at 9am, you can technically adjust your second time up to be available as soon as you use your first entitlement.

It would take a bit more playing around with the MDE app than I'd want to, but technically by doing it this way, you can use fastpasses as fast as you ever could under the old system, faster even considering general availability and the fact that you won't have to worry about pushing times out later as the day progress. It takes a lot of manual editing of return times and switching of fastpasses through a phone though. But in theory, you could be pulling your fourth fastpass way earlier than 11:00am with a 9am park opening.

It's too much work and hassle though for me to even bother with that. I figure I'll get six or seven at MK and maybe four or five at HS and AK. Epcot will be four if the fourth is Maelstrom and/or Illuminations. No need for fastpasses after 11am when we hit the World Showcase.

(1) You don't want to use them too early at MK because lines are shorter earlier in the morning. The 11 am-2 pm range is best and pack the most punch. Your first three FPs are more valuable than any that come after because you can reserve them with certainty ahead of time. So to waste a FP at 9 am to get another one at 11 am is like spending 2 dollars to get 1. Don't need to do it. The same is true for AK. Epcot and HS is probably different because of tiering.

(2) I got three extra FPs (#4-6) in a 41 minute window last week. So once you use an extra FP, you can immediately go back for more. Overall, I use 10 FPs in MK last week. You can also use your FPs 5 minutes early, which can add up over time.

I was there this past weekend. Saturday our 3rd FP was Wishes so we couldn't get a 4th FP. The Kiosks wouldn't allow it after Wishes. CM said all FPs were booked. We had a 10 min wait for Buzz and a 15 min wait for Astro Orbitor. I wouldn't give up the Wishes FP for additional FPs. While people were busy securing their spots we walked into Laugh Floor, Stitch, and a 10 min wait for Speedway.

Earlier in the day about 1:30pm we were leaving HM on way to Swiss Family Tree House. The line for the FP kiosk (cross through between Adventureland and Frontierland) was 50+ deep. I'd make sure you know where those kiosks are.

At DHS Sunday (we had planned to go to MK again but change mind last minute) At 9:05 App was showing no available FPs for TSM. At 9:30 we were by TSM wait was 90 mins, Kiosks by TSM said "limited" FPs but for a party of 4 none were available. The people in front of me had party of 3 FP were available at 7:30-8:30. They didn't take them. At 2 I left with DGD5, DD and DGS8 were going to stay. We handed them our MBs. Nothing available for TSM. She booked RnR and ToT. Standby for TSM said 60 mins she waited 90.
I'm not thrilled that you can't change and still have a chance at getting a FP for TSM. I don't want to plan my day 60 days out. I'm an AP holder and usually go with a day or two notice.

1. That really depends. Space mountain used to run both sides for standby guest at park opening. But now they are immediately putting one side up for FP+. Sure, they'll divert guest over, but it could mean an extra 7 minutes or so of going through the standby line versus going through the fastpass line. I know it's peanuts, but you can hit that, and be almost through with Buzz and on your way back to Fantasyland to catch a second moved up fastpass on Peter Pan before you even finish your standby ride. If you are planning to fastpass or catch short waits on Jungle Cruise or POTC before noon, it really pays to get through the other bottlenecks as quickly as possible. I'll still prescribe to jumping the standby lines if they are insanely short but with FP+ no longer limited, the only major deterrent I see would be waiting in a kiosk line for the fourth fastpass on. With a cap on them, it certainly was the case, but now if it can reasonably save me more time than I would spend later on getting a fourth fastpass, I see no reason why not to do it.

Yes, you are spending two dollars to get one, but you get that dollar right back later. I certainly wouldn't advocate wasting one with no standby line, but in that first hour I'd gladly spend it to even cut out a 5-10 minute wait, because that can quickly compound into shorter waits and quicker pulls on secondary fastpasses. My fastpasses will remain set at park opening. ;)

The only issue I see to using the first 3 FPs right away is if the crowd levels are high. If you use the first 3 up during the timeframe when the crowds are at their lowest of the day, you risk not having FP availability for your 4th, 5th and so on. This would result in uber long waits during the busiest times of the day, even for B and C list rides. In this case, Daddy Mack's suggestion might work better. This is all predicated of course on being there at rope drop.
