sorry! You've got one more Dave Ramsey fan here. We have 1 credit card that we've used exactly once in the last 10 years. In fact, they cancelled us, and wouldn't renew it because we had to "use at least once a year to keep it active". Next, it will be a chip in your forehead... :sad2: If we don't have the cash to pay for it, we don't need it.
I wish I didn't have CC bills. A few years ago when we lived in a condo, I walked out to goto work. As I was walking up to my truck one of my doors were open. I was think 'WOW I left a door open all night. I'm such an idiot!' As I got closer I saw something wasn't right. Someone broke into my truck taking over $20,000 in music and another $1000 in DJ equipment. Althoug there was another $10,000+ of equipment that they left in there. I cannot tell you the feeling I had. They tried to pop my ignition but they were unsuccessful. I'm not sure is something spooked them. Why would they leave all the other equipment? They also stole my radio and took all my change.:lmao: I find that comical.. steal a $100 radio and take $10 in change while leaving all that other equipment in the back. What dummies!:sad2: Then when a certain someone needed 2 root canals in the dead of winter and another certain someone has not really been working too much, how do you pay for it?

So I've been working to get our CC's paid off. We are getting there. But I can say that if I need to charge something on there like a rental car or plane tickets, I just pay what I charged and I also pay a monthly payment. So my balance is still going down, not up!

Whew, I didn't think that would of taken so long!!!

But we do have one (from a diff. company) for emergencies, like an evac. out of here if things go to hell in a handbasket.
LOL!!!!!:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

Okay, I went back and took a good look at where we'll be eating, and after seeing again, only 1 (:scared1:) of our TS meals is a place where we CAN split! The rest are either buffets, set meals, or in places that I would just plain old feel weird about doing so. (Tim, I know you live to guess where these places are, so there you go- the hint of the month ;)) So, after all that, there won't be as much splitting as I'd like. However, ALL of our CS places can be split, which brings in another dyanamic... I like to eat small portions, but often. AND I LOVE VARIETY!! So, I can totally see us getting a CS meal around 10:30 when we get there, and then another one later in the day for an afternoon snack. Anyway, stretching the CS credits sounds great to me.
So when can we start guessing??????:confused3

We only have plans for one TS credit going toward a breakfast. The rest for nicer sit-down places at dinner (and a few lunches). I think you're right... after all this debate, and a loooooong phone call with maroo last night, here's what we came up with. We're keeping the FD as it stands right now. After adding and re-adding, it is still about $210 cheaper. BUT IF a room only discount comes our way, we'll probably take it. Time will have to bear this all out.
Nice hints!!!!
I think you should keep what you have for now. And then hope for a PIN or a crazy discount!

I will concede though, that the thought of having it all "taken care of" is very tempting! Not thinking about cost and having that hang over me like a dead horse would be very nice indeed!

This was a plus on our trip. I still found us pulling out the money. When we ate at Tony's, DW & I split a salad before dinner. And they always ask for tax & tip... I wish that was included!

Like I said before, up above, it turns out that only 1 of our planned places is condusive to sharing. So out went that idea.
More hints!!!!!

Yeah, so WHAT is up with the $8 and $9 for a drink?? A good happy hour price is about $4. Not being a big drinker either, NOT BY A LONG SHOT, in fact, that's a hard price to swallow. The only ones for sure I want is the Lapu Lapu (which is even more than $8!@!!!!) and a mint julep if I can find one. (Anyone know where a good minty would be found?) Those 2 wine flights will be a treat as well. (splitting those!)
Welcome to 2009. When you have drinks out they are expensive. But only having a few, I'm sure the TC3 can swing it!

In March, we stopped at the grocery store to buy some snacks and we picked up 2 6packs and just left them in the fridge. At the end of the week
we still had a few drinks left. But we saved quite a bit of money doing this. Plus when you are sitting in a room at 9:30 with all the lights off, it's fun having an adult drink!:rotfl2:

Chip in your forehead?!?!? Girl. :scared1:

EVACS??

Goodness.

Is there something you know across the pond that we don't? ;)

OK...I know I am going to sound absolutely crazy...

But what night did we talk?? I thought I had Lauren the past couple of nights? Wait...it is your night? Which is my next day? Or last day? Or current day?

What day is it? When did I talk to you? What did I say? :lmao:

I will concede though, that the thought of having it all "taken care of" is very tempting! Not thinking about cost and having that hang over me like a dead horse would be very nice indeed!

No clue on the drinks...:confused3
I think I will skip enough drinks to be able to afford my airport parking!

Wait...did you have to add in airport parking to your budget?

Girl- you make me laugh!!! First you don't even remember me telling you I had a PIN code (I'll give you this one, since it was the night before you left) and now you don't remember our conversation about 2 days ago (my evening) all about FD vs. room only. I think it's me who should be doing the asking if things are ok! :rotfl2:

Basically, we had decided to keep our pkg. as is unless we get something better, ie, 40% room code. I think it was actually a chat NOT a real live call. You even sent me the link to mousesavers. You DO remember this right?

Nope. No airport parking for me. Good old mom and dad will drop me off! I so love them to pieces. Remember how nice they were when we had lunch with them in Nashy??

Yeah, at $9 a pop for one drink that adds up quick. Good thing there will only be a couple.

My head hurts!!

ITA about keeping free dining - I've been going back and forth on buying the DDP vs OOP - even if its $50 savings... :rolleyes1 but the problem with paying for DDP - you will eat it!! ;) If we went w/o the DDP, I'd skip desserts, I'd order the cheapest thing, and I wouldnt make an adr for TS every day! So we'd save ALOT more than $50!! :rotfl2:

Disney Math! :thumbsup2

Also didnt Tim have a hint about a 4/3 deal coming up? Bet that wouldnt include free dining!! Get out the calculator!!

Adult Beverages woohoo!! I will pay for the Grey Goose Slush - HORRID Expensive... then beyond that, I have a few tricks I do - I love the Rosa Regale in Italy - its a berry flavor/smelling "champagne" Its $10 for a glass - delightful! BUT do buy the whole bottle for $19 to take back to the room! (and if you cant split the whole bottle do make sure you have a champagne/stopper its $4 at our liquor store - not sure if they sell it at Disney!) and the stopper will keep the champagne bubbles fresh for a week!!

Also you can buy bottles of wine that have screw tops!! IF you are into the wine!! I also have a tendency to get the OJ or Coke for my breakfast CS in the resort - save it for my "adult beverage" (I bring or ship rum or vodka!) for later in the room....

I am about to post this in about four places...

So if this is a duplicate, please disregard - or pray twice ;)

Lauren - my dear friend with severe CP - has the swine flu. Despite our best efforts to prevent it.

I am very, very nervous about this. We have lost several kids in MS to this flu this year and with her underlying conditions, this can be very serious.

She started Tamiflu last night because William already had it...so that is good.

Please pray for them!!

Oh No! :sad2: That's terrible!

Add me to the prayer chain...

Maroo and Liesa, you are cracking me up!

Get a bottle of wine or 6 pack for the room :) Or if you prefer, a small bottle of rum and 6 pack of diet coke

You'll save $64!

:rotfl:

It is nice having it taken care of even if costs end up being equal, for me it less me relax a lot more, but I think waiting to see what discounts come out is a good plan. Also, those desserts can be taken back to the room in a box and sometimes they will sub fruit if you prefer.....That said I can't see them doing the 4/3 at the same time as FD. Could be a 40% PIN though....

Love the dining hints!

Goodness, you people make me thinks I gave a wrong impression!! Here's the plan... ONE Lapu Lapu, one (or possibly 2) wine flights at TS dinners and MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYBE a glass of something fun by the pool on a quieter of our evenings, or maybe a little something at the Yeehaw Bob gig. That's it. Really, I hope I haven't made myself out to be a wine-o, word slurring, slobbering drunk. :lmao:

Having said that, I do lOVE your idea of getting a whole bottle and champ. and taking it to the balcony one evening :)

Can I just for the record say that TK's installment of her and Tink sitting in a quiet place sipping something nommy-good just really sat well with me?? Starting the trip off with good friends in a quiet place, catching up with one another, getting the feel and mood for things to come- I'm so all over that. Maroo doesn't imbibe at all, I don't think (am I right?), so we're really going to stress the "getting to know one another" part of this, def. not the drinks; although it has been said that wine "makes the heart merry". ;)

4/3 Deal? Tim are you holding out on us? Did I miss something? Maroo, did you, queen of all deals? :lmao:

Oh No! :sad2: That's terrible!

Last I heard she is improving quite well, but that's been 12 hours or more. Hope that's still the case.

Maybe Garden Grocer can take care of these add-on items. Anyone know if they do alcohol?? Probably not, I'm guessing.

I admit, I really do like the thought of not having to think about it once there. On the other hand, I really don't want more food than I can eat either. What a horrible dilemma!! Ah well, it probably won't matter in the end~~

yes - garden grocer does alcohol as an add on - in the comment section you add it - then you either fax a copy of your Driver's License, or you have to be there to show that you are indeed over 21 ;)

If you havent had the Rosa Regale - its bubbly like champagne, but not harsh bubbles, not yeasty - its truly fresh, smells like berries - AWESOME!

Lapu Lapu - ask the bartender to make one 'virgin' for Maroo!! And then know that drink goes down real smooth - to slow the slurping it up I take the straw and dig out the pineapple on the side! Then its a fruit, its a drink!! :thumbsup2

What? NO GREY GOOSE SLUSH! :rotfl: and you think we may believe you are a lush! :rotfl: Guess that will be relageted to me!

See. There ya go, maroo! A fruit!!! Which if I recall correctly counts as a veggie on this trip?

Great to know about Garden Grocer. This indeed is my latest obsession. Since maroo announced she would be flying, as opposed to driving, we'll have to either pack our own groceries (not so sure about this option) or order through GG. That way the yogurts and fruit and milk/cream arrives fresher than if it had gone by way of underbelly of aeroplane.

Well, although I've heard many a wonderful thing about the grey goosie, I think I'll most likely pass. I just can't bring myself to spend that exhorbinate amount of dough on it. I've heard good things, in fact, about a lot of nommy concoctions in EPCOT and elsewhere, but the prices just plain old scare me off.

No, I was totally just kidding! Really, I just don't drink a lot. I do like a nice glass of wine with dinner about twice a month, and a mixed drink about once every 4 months. But I figure, I can let my hair down an eensy weensy bit more with no culture that has a 75% alcoholic rate and a bunch of kids kidding me about having my one glass. :lmao:

Oh no! :scared1: I love  credit cards! I should mention though that I love credit cards for the rewards - we pay them off every month and have never carried a balance. To me, if I can get free stuff, why not? On our upcoming trip to WDW, DD and I are flying for free from credit card points. This will be the 3rd time we are able to do that - I charge everything then make a payment every time we get paid. I will say that I know not everyone is disciplined enough or knows their budget well enough to do this but it works great for us!

Now THIS is the way to do it! And I am so glad it works for you. I know me...I would not be able to keep it up not charging stuff...I am sure I would use it to float credit eventually.

I think it was actually a chat NOT a real live call. You even sent me the link to mousesavers. You DO remember this right?

Thank you...and please keep praying for her.

We are not really surprised...but she is not really bouncing back. She can sit in her chair for a few hours. And if she sits still (doesn't write or move around much) then she is "fine" - but if she writes (which requires her to move her whole upper body...if that makes sense) or moves around much, then she doesn't feel well and has to lie down.

The plan is to let her continue to catch up on homework this weekend and basically rest. She will probably go to church on Sunday since she has not had fever for days.

But please pray for her. She is so sensitive to illness. It can take her down very fast.

The fact that she got the flu and we kept her out of the hospital...is actually a very, very good feat!

I don't think we will have a 4/3 deal going still in Sept. But I hope EVERYONE takes advantage of the 4/3 deal this Spring (since it is such a good deal)...because we all win... FD people get FD and empty parks! :thumbsup2 (and hurricanes...but who's counting)....

Here is another thought...

Something I discovered when I was planning Rachel's trip.

Mods and 40% off and FD are about a break even. If you just BUY the dining plan and add it to a room only reservation.

There is a big difference though...

Room only ressies have distinct advantages:
- You can buy tickets from Undercover Tourist and save a little money
- You can decided separately if the Dining Plan is right for you....after you make your ADR's and just weeks before your trip when we can all look at the menu and guess what we might be in the mood for...(I think 6 days?)
- But the BIGGEST savings and advantage...I think...Is to be able to "buy" insurance for $0. You can cancel up to 6 days in advance. Which gives you a good bit of "hurricane" insurance for free.

So...if we can get an AP discount...that may be the way to go. It would save us on insurance, too. :)

Maroo :rotfl2: I feel a change coming on!!

well if you dont want to spend money... :rolleyes1 Honestly that grey goose slush is made with a high end vodka - it tastes NOTHING like an alcoholic drink - so in that regards - its dangerous!!

We like wine with dinner- but refuse to pay 4 - 6 times the price (we do know the price of the lower end wines ;) Its hard paying $10 for 1 glass when you can buy the whole bottle for $19!)

and if you are not a drinker - Oh my that Lapu Lapu is going to knock you down girlfriend!! I googled - read this review!!!

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/features_orlando/2007/09/beware-the-poly.html
:rotfl2: They are so right!

Lapu Lapu
Myers rum and tropical juices served in a pineapple and topped with Bacardi 151 and its $14 - not much room in the pineapple for the juice!

1. Glad you are not hanging out in the Twilight Zone anymore my friend. That's a weird place to be. Our time difference can be tricky, though, so I understand.

2. Glad you think we're still funny! Just wait til I get my Lapu- and NO I don't need wheelchair- a hammock will do just fine- on the beach- with WISHES in the background- and a cool breeze on my face.

3. We'll keep on our knees; how's she doing now after church?

4. Are you trying to tell us something?? Like it would surprise ANYONE here that YOU might take advantage of the 4/3??!!

5. Oops! I had totally forgotten that you are apostate in your dislike of pineapple, and thus shun even the Dole Float. Is redemption even possible??

Uh yeah!!! With a Midori Sour!!! That's it!! "Apples", see it even has half the word "Pineapple" IN it!!!

6. 4!? No! Only 2, I promise. ;)

and if you are not a drinker - Oh my that Lapu Lapu is going to knock you down girlfriend!! I googled - read this review!!!

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/features_orlando/2007/09/beware-the-poly.html
:rotfl2: They are so right!

Lapu Lapu
Myers rum and tropical juices served in a pineapple and topped with Bacardi 151 and its $14 - not much room in the pineapple for the juice!

REALLY?! A change? Naw....:lmao:

Yeah, I know what you mean about the prices, but hey it's vacation, I'm going to spring for a couple of glasses.

From what the review says there's only about as much liquid in there as Tinkerbell can pee. Which can't do too much damage, right? :rolleyes1

Ummm we will allow a little word slurring, but the slobbering is just uncalled for!!!!!!:drinking1

UMMHUMMMMM this is getting interesting!:rolleyes1

And a terrible headache!

This deals is going to go to the end of March.. It's not going to help you.:sad2:

Okay, then I'll save my slobbering for the Pavlov's dog thing when my dinner arrives. (That's your second hint this month- do with it what you will.)

Huh? Aren't we always interesting?

Tylenol PM, my friend; that's where it's at.

Yeah, too bad I live so far away.

Hey Lushes...

I found the planning pages I was looking for!! (I know it was a few pages back Leisa, and I think esquared offered to make you a cool one - but look at these!!!

:yay:

Hey, howdy, ho!

I actually USED these ones. Everything is printed, cut out, and redneck laminated (ie. wide Scotch taped) to cardstock for durability. I'm about halfway done making Excel sheets of all my little lists and pages. After I finish a little bit more, I'll post a few pictures. :yay:

what no clear contact paper over there??

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

someone get me a kleenex! tears are rollin - THAT is so TRUE - so true, why do you think I suggest the stabbing of pineapple with straw, taking straw OUT of pineapple, sucking down the pineapple meat? It makes the dern drink last longer - but the Myers rum, while SMALL in ounces overall - tends to have a strong smell = hence people think they are getting A LOT more than what they do actually get in alcohol!!

see, when my niece came back from afghanistan my mom was determined to celebrate BIG - the bar she took everyone (I stayed in IL! this was in ft myers FL btw) OMG - they somehow shoot rum down the straws!!

Nope, not a single sheet. Really, I'll get over it. Wide Scotch works great. I just don't like the overlap lines I get. Whatever. It's a planning journal for heavens sake, not a framed and certified copy of my marriage certificate. :lmao:

huh?? shooting rum down straws??

**WARNING- For those of you who read my blog, I apologize. This was all posted last week. But what's an excited soldier to do??**

Okay, 11 months is a long, long, very long time! How on Earth am I going to get through this winter? I must have a few projects to help me pass the time besides working on researching everything I want to see and do! I'm sure you've all been there too! What's a good soldier to do??

I wanted to share with you a passion of mine that I am really, really enjoying! I especially love to be busy with these during the cold months when I don't venture out too much. (If truth be told, I'd be the wimpiest soldier to ever roam the earth if I were called out to anywhere cold!)

I've been making these for about 15 years, and with every finished project I love my craft more and more. I finally think I am ready to actually try my hand at selling one even. :confused3

Besides making them myself, I'm busy teaching a class to 5 ladies who've for years begged me to teach them. I caved and it takes a ton of time, but I do enjoy the fellowship with them each week immensely! Here is the project that we are making together; each week they've made a new square and we've finished 9 of them (I went on ahead).

Without further ado, here's what will keep my busy all winter. I love to sit and listen to my Disney music on my IPod while I sew. :thumbsup2

This quilt is actually a little further along. When I get the last border put on, I'll post another picture. I have a couple of ideas, and wanted to bounce them off of you...

1. Outright sell it. I think I can get about $200 for this one- there is no less than $75 worth of materials in it. The money would be be profit. This fabric was from my own supply, not donated, so I feel morally ok with this.

2. Approach our church and ask if they would want to auction it off for donations that would go towards our work here, including $$ to buy more fabric for my next class. I don't think I'll have any problem raising the money, but it might be a fun way of getting people familiar and excited about what's going on over here.

What do you think??

I do have some other fun ones I'm working on:

This one is special to me! I have been working on it for a long time, and spent many hours hand appliquing every flower and leaf on. After thinking about it for a long, long time, I finally decided on the name Flower and Garden Festival. It's ready to be quilted.

Here's a shot of some of the detail:

This one is made from leftover fabric I had from a queen-sized quilt I had already made that matches. This will hang on the wall behind our bed.. It is mostly hand pieced and painstakingly HAND QUILTED!

Detailing of the hand quilting:

So, that's what Soldier #1 does in her "spare" time. After the homeschooling is done, in the evenings, on Saturdays, etc... Keeps me out of trouble, and from going crazy thinking about a trip that's far too far off.

1. Glad you are not hanging out in the Twilight Zone anymore my friend. That's a weird place to be. Our time difference can be tricky, though, so I understand.

I suddenly have theme song music going through my head....

2. Glad you think we're still funny! Just wait til I get my Lapu- and NO I don't need wheelchair- a hammock will do just fine- on the beach- with WISHES in the background- and a cool breeze on my face.

We are hilarious! :)

Now THAT.... :cloud9: Sounds wonderful!

3. We'll keep on our knees; how's she doing now after church?

Lauren was not able to go to church. She was just too tired. :( This flu has really taken it out of her. We are so thankful she has not had any major complications, but she is still not well. I am sure she will go to school today, though.

4. Are you trying to tell us something?? Like it would surprise ANYONE here that YOU might take advantage of the 4/3??!!

I have no plans to take advantage of the 4/3. I won't have any trips that last 4 nights. It seems just as good (to me) since they are not offering 4/3 tickets...to just use an AP discount...assuming I have an AP?

5. Oops! I had totally forgotten that you are apostate in your dislike of pineapple, and thus shun even the Dole Float. Is redemption even possible??

Uh yeah!!! With a Midori Sour!!! That's it!! "Apples", see it even has half the word "Pineapple" IN it!!!

I do like Midori Sour! :)

6. 4!? No! Only 2, I promise. ;)

:)

I knew there were a few very good reasons I invited you!! (and a whole bunch of good reasons too). This happens to be one of them. See you can do math. Well, I can, but you are just so much better! Plug away my friend, and just send me the bill.

So, what is this sayin' about the fate of your AP?? hmmmm....:confused3

Jury is still out on the fate of the AP. ??

I LOVE the quilts!!!

My great aunt? Or something like that... was a master quilter... is that what you call it?

They have these quilting competitions and she has won several? Of course, she is no longer with us...but I will have to find some book that I have somewhere of one of her quilts that won?

I love quilts! I wish I knew how to do that!
