Like Mother, Like Daughter - I've Turned Her Into a Disney Freak!

Terrific news on your daughter's speedy recovery:thumbsup2
My DD gets down in the dumps when it is time to leave also. She usually starts a few days before we leave -- "We only have 3 days left" then "We only have 2 days left." Then she usually cries the last night. I think I read this saying on the DIS boards.
"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
That is what I tell her now.
There is something else that eases the sorrow - having another trip planned:banana:
I'm so glad you two had a great time on this trip and wish you the best on your next with both girls:goodvibes
Amy
ps I love the 2 pix at DAK to show how she has grown.
I am doing something similar in Dec. We are going to WDW to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We went to WDW on our honeymoon. I have a pix of my husband near SE taken back then. I'm going to have him stand in the same spot and take one this Dec.
I just think it will be fun to have both! I really think the only difference is the gray hair!!

Wonderful news that Amanda is doing well and home early!!!!:goodvibes

I will have to remember that one, for my son and myself.

Just read through your trip report, It was great!

I didn't know about the draw bridge either, so I'm glad to have learned something new.

Great to hear your daughter had a quick recovery!

Can't wait until your next TR!

popcorn:: :sad1: Loved it, Cammie. I just read thru the entire thing! How lucky you are that you got to do this w/Lauren. What wonderful memories you have made. You are such an awesome mom! This just made me miss my girls so much! DH and I enjoy the quiet week and couple time while the girls are away, but being Mom is my main job, and I miss the girls when they aren't with me for days (they're at my parents this week). I try to do individual things w/each of them, but know that I need to do more. For us, it's usually "girl outings" w/out Dad. Megan just turned 15 in July, and we are still exrtremely close. She is feeling the growing pains, and I am struggling w/giving her space and "letting her go".

You have two beautiful, blessed girls!

Pam2

Oh Pam, you're so sweet! And who says you have to let go? I plan on giving Lauren her space, but they'll be no letting go. I plan on bribing her with Disney trips for the rest of her life!

Cammie-

Thanks for the absolutely wonderful update on your daughter!!:cool1: :cool1: Hope she continues to do well!!

Thanks, Theresa! And I hope you and your daughters have a great trip also. Did you say you were going to do a TR? Sign me up if you do!

So happy to hear how well she did! I know you must be relieved, take it easy, get some rest and catch up with us whenever you can.

Yay!!! So happy to hear such a great update on your daughter!!:yay: :yay: Thanks for tellin us the good news!:goodvibes

Ok, you two - what thread are you going to be hanging out on until November? You're not going to disappear on me, are you? Kathy, I know we cross paths on the food porn thread, but where can we find Ellen these days?

My DD and I do the same exact countdown - crazy I know. We should just enjoy the time we're there instead of thinking about when we have to leave. I do love that saying though - I'm going to remember it!

I love the idea of taking the same pic each time you go back. Believe it or not, I didn't do it on purpose this time. When I got my pix back, I knew I had an earlier shot of that same location. I think from now on, I'll make it a point of doing it every year!

And congrats on your 20 year anniversary!:flower3:

Thank you! She's a strong girl!

Thanks for reading! And I hope to do a TR for my Nov. trip - be on the lookout for it!

And, I learn something new everytime I go to Disney too!

Praying that your daughter remains strong and continues to heal at a fast rate.

I'll hang on the food porn thread with you girls!:thumbsup2 Actually, I'm packing for DS14 to go to sleepaway camp on Sunday and the rest of us to HHIR- when I'm not, I'm reading up on HHIR on here. I'm also looking at those Adventures by Disney threads- they look SOOO good, also SOOOOOO expensive!

Cammie - You can always find me on the "What's for Dinner" thread and the Metro New Orleans thread. I'm always on the dining reviews & restaurants board too!

OK, clue me in what is HHIR?:confused3

I am planning a trip report but I think two years out might be a little early for a pre trip. :lmao:

Since reading your trip report I realized I've been stalking you without really meaning to:rotfl2: .

We all love the food porn thread so I am sure I will get to "see" you there.

podsnel-I told a DIS friend that I would be happy to give her a tour of the west doing the same thing Disney does...and I wouldn't charge as much:thumbsup2

You know, I got confused because I read one of your posts on the food porn thread about doing concierge for your daughter's 16th birthday - thought that plan was in motion already! Wishful thinking, huh?;)

Oh, thank you! So far, so good!

Adventures by Disney - I don't even want to tease myself!:lmao:

I'm usually all over the place food; resorts; theme parks; transportation; CB boards! I have a special group of friends on the Control Freak thread - come on over if you'd like!(we're not that weird!)

OK, clue me in what is HHIR?:confused3

I'm thinking it's Hilton Head something?:confused3

But, seriously, I'm finding more and more reasons to start that pre-trip report - if only to have one central place for all my new Dis Buddies to hang out on!:goodvibes

nope...she wants to do concierge for at least part of her graduation trip....just for the food (and one of the safaris).

and thanks to that dang food porn thread we will probably have to do the deluxe dining plan. :lmao:

Hey Cammie! Just got back last night from our trip to the beach this past week and I'm catching up with my DIS buddies! :beach:

First of all, I am SOO glad to hear that Amanda's surgery went well and that you were able to come home ahead of schedule. That's wonderful! We will continue to keep her and you in our prayers.

Secondly, your trip report was fantastic! I hated to see it end...and I know you did as well. I'm so glad that you and youngest DD were able to share that time together, and I definitely think you should be thinking about planning another trip in the spring. (perhaps mid to late May? hint, hint.) :thumbsup2

Finally, we all hope you will start a pre-trip report! I know that your plans have pretty much been made for the November trip, but that gives us several months to anticipate along with you! As you stated in one of your posts, at least it gives all of your DIS friends a place to congregate!

I will be updating my pre-trippie sometime today. Stop by and say hello!

Hi there Cammie,

I just got caught up on the last 3 pages (I went back to work full-time on Thursday for the first time in 12 years  ). I am so glad your DD got to come home and is on the road to a strong and speedy recovery.

I hope there is a Pre-Trippie in the works for you. Your TR was fun :)

Cammie - I'm so glad that you did the TR! I've really enjoyed reading it!!! Such fun! You did a really good job with it!

Hey, with her hair - is it twisted or braided? I couldn't tell.

Also, I was looking at the fact you said you raised two hands on the coaster in MK - think that would be okay for little Man? He did okay except the scared face on Barnstormer. His dad is a scarey ride junky, so I know he will try to get him to ride it with him. I dunno....

Oh - and didn't you do the DDP? I may have missed it, but was wondering how you liked it with your ADRs you picked.

Off to do bedtime. Thanks for the dose of Disney today! BTW, LOVED that sulky face on the chair! Just too cute!!!!

PLEASE do!!!!!!!!! We'll have a blast.....:cool1:

Ok - I took the bait. See the link below! Come by, girlfriend - miss chatting with you!

Thanks for your family's thoughts and prayers, Alan. Amanda continues to do surprisingly well!

I would LOVE to plan a WDW trip in May; we went one year when the girls were younger and stayed for 10 days over Mother's Day - it was glorious. Now that Lauren is in middle school though, it seems alot of testing is done around that time, so I wouldn't be able to pull her out for fear of missing something really important. Darn school!:headache:

And, as noted, above - the pretrip has been started!

Hi there Cammie,

Thanks for your good thoughts. I hope going back to work full-time is working out for you (and is what you wanted). But, honestly, as moms, I think you can say you've always been working full-time - you just weren't getting a salary for it! Hope to see you over on the pre-trip!

I just finished reading your trip report and it was great. I am glad your DD is doing good.

Jeanine

Thank you, Jeanine!:goodvibes Follow the link to the pre-trip report and say hi (although I haven't posted much there yet!)

Cammie - I'm so glad that you did the TR! I've really enjoyed reading it!!! Such fun! You did a really good job with it!

Hey, with her hair - is it twisted or braided? I couldn't tell.

Thanks Renee. As for the hair - it was about 10-12 little braids across the top of her head. And she never complained that it was too tight. It held up well for the first 2-3 weeks; but by the end of week 3, it was really fuzzy on top. Here's a pic of what her hair looked like when we finally took them out:

Don't think DS would like BTMRR if he got scared on Goofy's Barnstormer. BTM is alot faster and the turns are alot sharper. You might want to do the parent swap for that one!

And, no, we didn't do the DDP. Now that Lauren is 12, I'd have to pay the adult price for her, and I didn't think it would be worth it. But, honestly, she really showed me on this trip, that her appetite has gotten bigger so now I'm re-thinking that logic. I may have to really sit down and do the math for this one.

Ok - so I've started my first pre-trip report. I hope you all can stop by and give me your thoughts and opinions -- or just chat!:) I have my upcoming trip in Nov. with both my girls; and then I have a trip for Feb. that I'm trying to plan as a second "mother/daughter" trip - which will also celebrate Lauren's 13th birthday! And I'm thinking I might want to keep it a surprise - that is if I can keep my big mouth shut!

Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1901602

Hope to see you all there! Thanks for reading everybody!:flower3:
