Lights, Christmas tree's and FAKE snow nowhere else but Disney! New 1.22!

Hey Cheryl! I did end up buying a camera. The girls at work talked me into a Canon. I spent more than I had planned, because the Canon I wanted that was less expensive was sold out, too! Bad timing. My cruise is through Royal Caribbean, and it is a Western Caribbean. We will have two days at sea, and stops at Belize, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. I am going with my sister, who has been on many many cruises and loves them. This will be my first cruise, and is a dream come true. However, I just am not jazzed up at all, like I am for a Disney trip. Which is so crazy - I've been to Disney so many times, and I've never been on a cruise. You'd think I would be more excited than ever. I'm wondering if it's because I just don't know what to expect. I remember before I went to Disney for the first time, I bought the Unofficial Guide book and read it cover to cover - over and over. I think that really fueled the excitement. Now I have to pick up the latest edition whenever I am going back. Plus there is just so much on-line about Disney. I seem to want to look at Disney stuff now, even though I am leaving on this cruise in less than a week. I think I need a 12-step program :lmao:

Glad you got a camera! I'm so jealous your on the ship right now!!!! You will hve to tell me all about your trip when you get back! I'm sure you are loving it! :goodvibes

great update and pics.

the parade looked nice.

I see the all my children stars a lot, they work 2 blocks from me

Thats cool they are down the st from you!!!

I am sorry you got such a headache. Those always suck epescially when they won't go away even after a nap. The MK looks great at night during the holiday season. I can't wait to see how your night at MVMCP went!

Great update! That does stink that you got such a bad headache. :guilty: I love the music in Spectromagic too...it's so...well, magical! It's on my ipod too. :) I'm excited to read about MVMCP!

Good for you to go despite having a headache. Although good for you for taking the nap too! Does that make sense? :confused3 I really hope the headache goes away for MVMCP! Being solo really does have it's benefits! You can go take care of yourself and then still make it back to MK, and find a spot for Spectro and Wishes... among others.

All caught up. Awesome updates!

Thanks, especially, for the Super Soap pictures. I'm a GH watcher from way back and loved seeing the actors! Sounds like it was really crowded!

Ugh- there was so much more I wanted to comment on and now I've forgotten.

Suffice it to say I'm thoroughly enjoying your report and look forward to more. popcorn::

Day 4- November 16

So today I decided not to set up the wake-up call and just sleep till I woke up on my own. It was going to be a late night with MVMCP and I didn't want to be draging.

I ended up waking up around 9:30 and got dressed and decided to hang around the room for a bit watching morning talk shows. Oh and I forgot to mention I woke up that morning with NO headache!!!! (yay!)

Around 11 I decided to head out to Downtown Disney to grab some lunch and as soon as I opened the door I got quite a shock...the nice warm FL weather was gone! It was sunny out but it was very very windy and cold. I turned right back around and layered up on clothes.

Ok so try number two and I was off again to the DTD bus. When I made it to the station there was a DTD bus just waiting for me! (I had extremely good luck with the busses this trip).

When I got to DTD I made my way over to Earl of Sandwich for some lunch.

After lunch I decided to head out and over to the Grand Floridian to see if the Christmas decorations were up.

ry%3D400

I only waited about 10 minutes for the GF bus which I ended up having all to myself.
ry%3D400

I never realized how far away the GF and DTD are. It was about a 25 minute ride but suddenly out the window I saw...
ry%3D400

This is by far my favorite resort on property!!! It's so beautiful and I just love the old victorian era.

The bus driver let me off right outside the main lobby where these beautiful victorian cars were parked.
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

I walked into the lobby and there was no Christmas tree in sight. But I could smell the most delicious gingerbread...could it be....the GF gingerbread house?!

ry%3D400

Yup! All the way at the end of the lobby on the left!
ry%3D400

The house was beautiful! So much time and effort went into making this and I was so excited I was able to see it!

So much detail...

ry%3D400

To make the house even more amazing there is actually a person inside that sells different gingerbread treats. Turns out though it didn't open till the next day.

ry%3D400

Look at the Mickey's on the shutters...
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

I even found a couple hidden mickey's...

After oooh'ing and ahhhh'ing over the house for a while I headed upstairs to check out the shops.

There was one shop upstairs that had beautiful items and it was a very high end gift shop. Of course I fell in love with a few things. One being this swarovski crystal tote bag...
ry%3D400

but there was no way I was going to pay that $68.00 price tag for a totebag! Yikes!

After realizing everything was out of my budget I headed out and found this wonderful balcony I had never seen before. The view was beautiful!

ry%3D400

The wind was starting to get to me in the shade so I made my way down to the beach to hopefully warm up on the beach.

At this point I didn't realize how late it was getting. It was a little after 3 and they start to let people in around 4 for MVMCP so I headed up to the monorail to catch my ride over to the magic kingdom...
ry%3D400

Next up...Mickey's very merry Christmas party!!!!

I am sorry you got such a headache. Those always suck epescially when they won't go away even after a nap. The MK looks great at night during the holiday season. I can't wait to see how your night at MVMCP went!

Ugh it sucked! I wasn't going to let it ruin my whole day though!

Great update! That does stink that you got such a bad headache. :guilty: I love the music in Spectromagic too...it's so...well, magical! It's on my ipod too. :) I'm excited to read about MVMCP!

Yay! I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with Spectromagic on their Ipod! :goodvibes

Lol yup I get what you mean!

All caught up. Awesome updates!

Glad you liked the supersoap pics! I wish I got pics of some of the women there because like I said they went ALL out for this event!

Thanks for the compliment on my tr!!! :wizard:

Yay for your headache finally going away! I know how big of a pain in the butt those are!

The Gingerbread House at the GF is so pretty and smells wonderful! Yummmm!

I'm waiting to see if we qualify for the new military deal they put out & once I figure all that out, I'll let you know what dates we'll be down there. It'd be so awesome if we ended up down there at the same time! We'd definitely have to do dinner or something AT LEAST!

Ohhhh that view on the balcony where you can see the Polynesian is gorgeous! I really miss staying in the MK resort area. I'm glad you got to see the gingerbread house! The things Disney comes up with are pretty amazing.

So glad that your headache was gone when you woke up!

Bummer about the GF tree not being up but you got to see that beautiful Gingerbread House! I wonder if anybody had ever tried to break a piece off and eat it? :lmao:

I am glad you were able to wake up without a headache! The pictures form the GF are great! The Gingerbread House looks so neat...I actually watched a special on how they make it a few years ago, it is neat. I know I keep saying it but I hope one day soon I will be able to see it in person.

Looking forward to seeing your MVMCP pictures and update. That party looks like so much fun!

Great update and pics.

I loves the gingerbread house. the smell was incredible.

Ugh so sorry to hear a headache put a dent in your trip but thankfully it was gone the next day!

I also get goosebumps when hearing Spectro. I absolutely love that music!

When I saw the gingerbread house for the first time this year, I couldn't smell it! I don't know whats wrong with me but when we walked into the GF, I was waiting for the aroma and nothing! Maybe I have a wierd sense of smell :confused3

Can't wait for more!

Okay now I'm craving a sandwich from the Earl!

Headaches on vacation are the worst. Glad you didn't let yours stop you from seeing the parade and fireworks (I know that I wouldn't have made it!)

Loved the GF pics and am going to try and find that balcony the next time I go. I would love to stay there one day! Oh to be on that beach today instead of stuck in the snow!

Wonderful! I'm so glad your headache went away! I love your pictures. I am making sure to visit the GF on my next trip, I had planned to on each trip I took, but didn't make it. My next one I will for sure! You are right, it is incredibly beautiful. I can't wait to see your MVMCP pictures!

I got off the monorail at the Magic Kingdom and it was 3:30. I noticed there was a line of people over by the usual tour entrance. Turns out they were waiting to get in for MVMCP.

ry%3D400

Before I knew it they started letting people in using the party ticket! It wasn't even 3:45 yet!

I went through the gate and got my wrist band and I could hear the Christmas music playing! The CM's were in their Christmas attire and I was so excited!
ry%3D400

I made my way in and down main st. There were not any party decorations up yet but it was very very early and it didn't really start till 7.
ry%3D400

Now I made my way over to get my favorite MK snack...a funnel cake! After enjoying my guilty pleasure I had some rides to get out of the way before the party. I went on the Haunted Mansion, PotC and Big Thunder Mt. Railroad. After I took my time and made my way over to tomorrowland. So when I made it to tomorrowland it was just about 6. I decided to hop on the people mover for a go around...ok maybe 2 times around. On the second trip I noticed people getting in line for the Mickeys "Twas the Night before Christmas" show. I decided to get in line after because from what I had read this show is often full and people are turned away and I knew I wanted to see the first show.

I got in line at the galaxy theater with about 15 people a head of me. Not even going to lie by 6:30 there must of been 100 people wanting to get in. One guy ahead of me was saying that he wanted to see this show last year and they turned him away. He also said that they had added more showes this year. The CM's started to let us in about 6:45 and I found a seat front and center behind the reserved seats. There were beautiful trees decorated on each side of the theater and lighted snowflakes projected everywhere.
ry%3D400

Ohhh and remember how I mentioned before how that morning it was cold? Well let me just tell you once the sun had set it got even worse...it was FREEZING! I couldn't believe how cold it was and I could actually see my breath. While I was waiting for the show I honestly didn't know how I was going to make it to midnight. I really wasn't dressed warm enough. :headache: I sat there trying to keep my mind off how cold I was. 7 on the dot the show started! There were a lot of people standing and I did see people turned away. I was happy that I had got a great seat!

The show lasted about 25 minutes and it was really cute. The live music was such a great touch. I agree with most here on the boards that this is a must see if you go to MVMCP and get there early! I can't stress that enough! Another tip is to see the castle lighting another night. If you want to catch the first show you wont have time to make your way from the hub to the theater show. I actually learned that tip from these boards. Back to the show: All the kids in the audience seemed to really enjoy seeing the characters and I would say all the adults did too. The music and theater sets are great and it's just a fun show to see!

Up next...More to come from MVMCP!

That house was just so beautiful. I went to school to be a pastry chef so I know the work that they put into that. Amazing!

So glad that your headache was gone when you woke up!

Bummer about the GF tree not being up but you got to see that beautiful Gingerbread House! I wonder if anybody had ever tried to break a piece off and eat it? :lmao:

Haha I wonder! I'm sure the secret Disney security is watching it like a hawk!
