Has anyone tried the light up cotton candy? Price? Is it worth it for a daughter who loves cotton candy? Thought this might be a better place to post rather than restaurants. Thanks!

I am wondering too. DS is trying to plan his souvenir/ special snack budget. I have a feeling he will want the light up cotton candy when he sees it. But I also have a feeling it is far more than this momma will spend on sugar!:rotfl: He will need to save his pennies

Can anyone tell me where this is sold? We've asked several CMs at MK and all of them have said they've not heard of it!
We leave Tues and hoping to get some!!

TIA! :goodvibes

If it has a light, add $10. If it cost $0.50, add $7. I would say it is about $17 :)

I've never seen or heard of light up cotton candy

After googling it..looks like it's sold at magic kingdom at certain street vendors around Main Street/hub.

It glows due to a wand in the middle

Light Up Cotton Candy

And you can find it at select Popcorn and snack carts in the park (mostly around Main Street and the Hub).
I read that it was $7, but if it becomes a craze expect WDW to raise the price.

I feel super cynical saying this but...it's probably at least a $1 or two more than average cotton candy, and it's essentially just average cotton candy, except with a glowing stick in the center. I don't know, I just don't think it's a special thing--more like a gimmick to get you excited about cotton candy even though cotton candy is about as exciting as white bread, at this point. Okay, I feel very, very cynical now. I'll see myself out :rolleyes1

The only thing my savvy 6 yo GD asked for on the upcoming trip. Oh, if i could only escape the parks just buying that souvenir lol

I'm good with it, she's a cotton candy junkie, $7 is a WDW bargin when it comes to a snack, let alone a light up whatever

Of course it's a gimmick! It's a gimmick people will pay for. It's a gimmick children will beg their parents for. It's a gimmick that I saw mentioned on a Disney site and immediately resigned myself to the fact that I would, of course, have to purchase one of those on my next trip.

Do not be cynical. It's a beauitful, simplistic idea. Think of the random Disney staffer in a meeting one day who bravely raised his or her hand and said, "I've got an idea. What if we used glow sticks to wind cotton candy?" That person now has a better desk and a bigger paycheck. That's Disney imagination folks. Think of something simple that no one else has done before and make $1 million on it.

I still someday want to meet whatever imagineer it was that said, "You know what would make bumper cars cooler? Cannons."

That brave little Disney staffer is probably closely related to the one who raised their hand and said, "What if we just remade all the old movies....but live action?" With the two of them working together in different areas of the Disney company, all original thought will soon die, replaced forever by fun gimmicks that make money!!! :rotfl:
(No? Not funny? Well, if nothing else, I amuse myself)
In any case, for all my love of Disney magic, I was born a cynic and I'll probably die a cynic....at least I can admit it!!!
